It is quite the cozy spot. The ladies behind the counter were very friendly and appreciative of my business too. Will be popping back in at some point. I will have to take a closer look at the drink menu as one of the beverages the lady was describing to someone made me almost want to get up and get one myself. Something with toast and marshmallows. Either way, good spot to come to off of Boston Road.

The whole place has a funky, eclectic vibe that makes it worth exploring. It's the kind of place where you go in for coffee and end up wandering around to see what else you can discover. But let's talk about the coffee, which is why I was there. I ordered a light roast drip coffee and a house-made apple cider donut. The coffee was wonderful, with a rich, flavorful taste that made me appreciate a good cup of drip coffee. The donut was equally impressive. Soft, light, and with a genuine apple flavor that didn't get lost behind the cinnamon and sugar. A great pairing! The staff was friendly, and the prices were right in line with what I'd expect from an independent coffee shop. I also got an unexpected bonus when the barista made an extra latte and offered it to me. Naturally, I wasn't going to turn that down! Between the drip coffee and the latte, I was a little over-caffeinated by the time I left. No regrets! And I'm glad I didn't turn it down. The latte was excellent. It had a strong espresso flavor without being overpowering, which is something I really appreciate. Too often, I find espresso drinks where the coffee overwhelms everything else. This one had a nice balance. Between the quality of the coffee, the delicious donut, the friendly service, and the character of Gasoline Alley, Monsoon is definitely worth a visit. I'd happily come back, and next time I'll make sure to leave some extra time to explore the surrounding shops.
