Ordered through Uber Eats and my food got here FAST. My mistake for thinking it was going to be fresh. Everything was COLD and gross.

I was craving fries and happened to be nearby, so I decided to give this place a try since I love…read moretheir fries at Petco Park! I thought I'd just get the fries since cheesesteaks seem to be their specialty, and I don't eat beef. But I decided to try their Chicken Ranch sandwich. The sandwich was better than I expected. I was picturing the basic grilled chicken sandwich--a piece of grilled chicken on a hamburger bun. Instead, it was loaded with tender, flavorful chicken, bacon, white American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and ranch. Totally messy to eat, but in the best possible way! And the Cheez Whiz fries were exactly what I was craving. They definitely hit the spot. Customer service was excellent too! So glad I stopped in!

After a six-hour tattoo session, I had earned two things: a cheesesteak and absolutely no judgment…read moreabout the amount of food I was about to eat. Being from Philly, I take my cheesesteaks very seriously. Probably more seriously than a reasonable adult should. So when I finally tried Gaglione Bros. in San Diego, I went in hopeful. First, the good stuff. The staff was wonderful, genuinely friendly, the place was clean, and there were plenty of options. They even had Amoroso rolls and fresh-shaved prime rib. On paper, we were speaking my language. But whenever I try a new "Philly cheesesteak" place, I order my first steak plain. No cheese, no onions, no peppers, no hiding behind toppings. If you want to call yourself a Philly steak shop, the steak and bread should be able to stand on their own. Unfortunately, this one didn't. The meat was heavily salted and peppered, surprisingly dry, and every couple of bites I was pulling out pieces of fat. And nothing makes you question your dining choices quite like discreetly removing a piece of steak from your mouth in public. For me, a great cheesesteak has balance. The meat should be tender and juicy, with enough seasoning to bring out the beef rather than overpower it. There should be a little richness from the griddle, the steak juices, and everything cooking around it. Then you add the onions, mushrooms, peppers, cheese or whatever your particular Philly allegiance demands. This steak just didn't have that softness or heart. It honestly reminded me more of the tourist cheesesteak experience in Philly. And my fellow Philadelphians know exactly what I mean when I say that. A real Philly cheesesteak isn't complicated food, but that's precisely why every part matters. The bread matters. The meat matters. The griddle matters. And somehow, when someone really knows how to make one, you can taste the heart in it. Would I try Gaglione Bros. again? Probably not for the cheesesteak. The people were great and the place itself left a good impression, but the steak didn't. Mostly, the experience just left this Philly girl Jonesing for a long weekend back home, a walk down South Street, and a cheesesteak from that place. If you're from Philly, you already know which one I mean.

Quick stop at Crack Taco Shop on our way down to San Diego. Unfortunately, the line took longer…read morethan expected as the cashier couldn't figure out what was wrong with the tap-to-pay hardware. Other than that, the Al Pastor Nachos were great! Large serving for ~$15 was more than enough for my husband and I. The indoor seating and bathrooms were all clean, many families sitting around for their meal. The cashier was also serving / bussing tables - hope they can get more help in the future.

Overview: 3.5 clean restaurant but food and service was decent but fell a little short…read more ---- The inside of the restaurant was clean and decorated nicely so we were really excited to try this place out. My boyfriend is a fiend for California Burritos so he had to get one here. We also got the hot carrots and the Al Pastor Burrito. The cashier at the front wasn't super friendly but the food came out quick. ---- California Burrito $15.95 - tritip, fries, guacamole, sour cream, and cheese - too much sour cream, the ratio of it compared to guacamole was way off and he ended up with a large pocket of sour cream at the end of his burrito - at the other end of the burrito he also got a large pocket of unmelted, cold cheese that wasn't pleasant - he said if he would get it again he would ask to remove the sour cream, and it would've tasted better if the cheese was more melted Hot Carrots $4.95 - good pickled flavor - my bf really liked it - I prefer pickled carrots with more crunch, I thought the texture was a bit too soft for me but I still enjoyed it Al Pastor Burrito $14.95 - al pastor, guacamole, and pico de gallo - very juicy/saucy which i enjoyed - flavor was pretty good, I like that they have different salsas available at the tables - a bit too oily for my liking - I cut mine in half and as I was eating, the oil was dripping from the bottom of the burrito, there ended up being a small pool of oil that was unappealing to see ---- Notes - both inside and outside seating available - fountain drinks and canned drinks (including alcohol) are available to purchase - water cups and complimentary and they have soda water as an option as well as still water - utensils are free to grab too - food came out really quick around 10 minutes or less! - portions are filling too ---- Overall: some small kinks to iron out, filling food but quality can be improved, I liked the cleanliness of the seating area and atmosphere
