A…read morefantastic atmosphere with its ultra comfortable leather booth seats, skylight bringing in natural sunlight, even plug sockets for laptop users and free wifi. It also seems the place to watch live sports over a drink and a burger with tv screens on each corner of the restaurant yet it is still very family friendly and service has always been impeccable. In my honest opinion I do believe they serve some of the best American dishes around and can even compete with some of London's favourite diners. Wild wings (cajun) x6 Incredibly moreish and can see myself finishing a higher quantity bucket load. The wing sizes were quite average but very succulent and meaty inside. The cajun spices gave it a nice sweet paprika garlicky flavour and latched on well on the crispy skins of the wing showing that they were well fried, Sloppy Joes Ticked all the boxes for a fantastic burger. First that lovely pillow soft brioche bun, slightly charred so it came warm. Then came the rich tender minced beef fried with onions and peppers in there to give it some texture and boost of flavour. The sauce it came with was generous, with lovely rich sweet and and savoury notes keeping everything moist and juicy throughout. Finished off nicely with a fine slice of cheese, melted perfectly to intensify the umami flavours. Full rack ribs A delicious slab of ribs, keeping its meaty texture and flavours which suggest it was slow cooked the full length of time to tenderise and soften the meat. There was no pre cooking the ribs beforehand here. This allowed the rich BBQ coca cola sauce to penetrate through to the bone whilst reducing in liquid to create a rich and sticky coating around the ribs keeping everythign moist and juicy. A nice light creamy coleslaw on the side to cool things off. Curly fries These were perfectly fried. It had that moreish fluffy inside and crispy outside that was coated in the sweet mild spices which you find collapsing on itself as you chew, sending the rush of flavour through each mouthful. I say mouthful as who just pops one in their mouth per bite, not if they are this good. Chilli fries Not the spicy chilli as I imagined but chilli consisting of a wonderful well flavoured mix of red kidney beans, onions and red peppers in a lovely thick tomato slurry that helped bind the sauce and flavours on each and every chip. Drizzled with sour cream to add a lovely creamy consistency. Very wholesome dish. Sloppy suits every occassion whether it's your quick lunch or a celebration feast. Food has always been fantastic and paired with that is it's lovely bright and spacious atmosphere. Those who can eat a lot like me should definitely go for one of their food challenges. try their Sloppy Joes challenge and knock me down the top of the chart if you can.

Then more joined and it turned into me watching this table of really really drunk people trying to order food. Two of them ended up just falling asleep. It was super strange. Anyway, me being distracted aside, I really loved the cocktail I ordered- Sloe Boat To China, and everyone else seemed happy with theirs. I was dying to try the pimiento cheese starter and the fried pickles. The cheese was particularly sharp and delicious. The pickles were good, but quite skinny (I mean come on, you're in an American restaurant I was expecting some serious pickles). The vegan gumbo was super spicy and delicious. I was impressed and enjoyed it. My husband dropped the ball and ordered the regular jambalaya (with sausage) rather than the seafood one which broke my heart a little bit, because I really wanted to try it. You know, I guess that means we'll just have to come back. Oh also another bonus, this place has brisket which is really hard to find. I can't say how it tastes but my friend said he defo approves (am I becoming more British with these words, or just more annoying?) Anyway, to finish it off I had the oreo cheesecake which the bomb. I love oreos. And it tasted like oreo. So all was right with the world. A wonderful place to come if you have people who want to try American food, or if you have out of town Americans who are too scared to try other food, or if you have hungry friends that want to try cajun food, or if you just want to try some really yummy food.

All of their amazing sandwiches come with an individual pickle that is made in-house. We shared a Chicken Cobb (Corn fed chicken, smoked bacon, avocado, blue cheese, boiled egg, tomato, red onion, lettuce & mayo on 3 slices of toasted white), The Toronto (Slow roasted topside beef, melted English cheddar, leaf lettuce, tomato, pickled hot peppers, red onion, & horseradish mayo on toasted sourdough), and The Medley (Roasted turkey breast, smoked ham, bacon, melted cheddar & emmental, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickled hot peppers & basil mayo on toasted sourdough). This place is locally owned and the vibe is very laid back. We went around 12:30 on a Saturday and this place was packed. They take reservations so you might want to make some (we did). In America you only see stuff like that at gas stations, and even there they hold the mayo. In England, they put so much mayo on those sandwiches that it actually gets listed as an ingredient. So whereas you'd have a chicken sandwich with mayo in America, in England it becomes a chicken mayo sandwich. That's just wrong. And nasty. Enter Pickle & Rye. If this place were in Soho or South Kensington then there'd be lines out the door. True Mortlake is in London's upscale southwest and thus home to several affluent American ex-pats, but I feel like that this gem of a sandwich place is missing out on a golden opportunity by being stuck out in the middle of nowhere. It was a trek to get to even from Fulham, and I've got plenty of friends who think that Fulham is enough of a trek already. Or at least that's their excuse for never coming to visit us. This place would merely have to not completely suck to be one of the best sandwich places in London, but it's really taken the art of the sandwich to another level. The owner / head sandwich dude is a culinary school graduate who roasts all their meats, cures his own corned beef (known around these parts as salt beef), makes his own dill pickles (which are easily the best that I've ever had in England) and Russian dressing, with the result being the finest reuben this side of the Atlantic. I then had the homemade chicken and leek pot pie, which was fabulous - a lovely thick, crunchy crust with fresh ingredients and fresh side veggies. For dessert, I had the sticky apple and blackberry pudding! (A nice summery twist on the traditional sticky toffee pudding) And it was every bit as good as I'd hoped. Served hot with piping hot custard... The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating, and were very patient trying to get the best photo of us all! Wandering outside to get some fresh air, we admired the large beer garden at the back, and my husband and I went on the swings! Very peaceful out there, with the antique tractor at the back, and the view over the field of daisies. Lots of lovely colourful hanging baskets of flowers in the front too, and I loved the foxgloves planted right by the painted sign "The Fox Revived"... Our assigned waitress was pleasant but we had to flag her down twice for more beverages, it wasn't really busy yet and three wait staff were talking amongst each other. The semicircular bar immediately came into view as we walked through the doors. I was pleased to find some UK craft beers on tap in addition to the usual Fuller's Brewery offerings. One of the best brews I had earlier that week in London, Beavertown's Gamma Ray (American Pale Ale), was available and I ordered it with enthusiasm. The hoppy and juicy brew tasted as great as I remembered! We grabbed a cozy booth near the front window and enjoyed entertaining conversation with the birthday girl for hours to come. I ended the night with an English take on the American IPA, Electric Bear Brewing Co's Livewire, and it was solid as well. The Market Stores played a nice soundtrack of '90s jams which our group fully appreciated and danced in our seats to. Overall, this is a wonderful pub to grab a pint and the large crowd that showed up on a chilly Friday night fully confirmed this.
