(This review is for a class, I'm not a Karen) Personally, I avoid this franchise as much as possible. The food served is mediocre at best and arguably one of the most unhealthy options in the US. On a rare occasion, I will stop by if necessary. One of those occasions happened to be with my dad. We had been on our way to Dr. appointments out of town and stopped, as it is just off the 65. Upon receiving our drinks, to "much surprise", we noticed our teas looked old and foggy. After receiving our replacement soft drinks, with a hint of attitude, I might add, we drove off. It wasn't until we were back on route that we realized they messed up on half of our very small order. I got into an argument with a customer service manager over emails and on top of that with Mattoon Illinois McDonald's manager because I ordered food in Sullivan Illinois because I was in Sullivan Illinois and went to go pick it up in Sullivan Illinois. They screwed it up and sent it to Mattoon Illinois so when I pull up the Sullivan they said they could not give it to me because it was sent to Mattoon. So I called and asked for refund. They proceeded to tell me that I did not make the order in Sullivan Illinois. Well we went back to my phone records and got all that stuff that I needed and the proof is there. They have owed me a refund since January 13th 2026 and it is February 25th 2026. These scumbags still haven't sent me my money. So on top of Mattoon manager running her mouth and the customer service manager running her mouth I got threatened that I was going to be trespassed. And now I'm still trying to get my refund every time they tell me they're going to send it to hire they're going to send it to the hire people they're going to send it to the higher people. Never happens. Nobody ever says a thing. All because this lady abused her power to try to have me trespassed and to make it even worse the same night that she did that her family and friends and even the franchise owner's family and friends were stalking my Facebook page because they're scumbags. And I still not gotten my money from these idiots. These people are scum. And the franchise owners are worthless pieces of crap. They don't deserve to stub their toe. Because some customer service lady and a manager at McDonald's had a bad day I'm the one who had to pay for it. Literally. There has to be some way to hold these idiots accountable. We ordered 2 Squishmallow happy meals, in commercials this was advertised, it was advertised as soon as we walked in the door that the happy meals contain the Squishmallow toys. Even on the menu it said Squishmallow happy meal, and EVEN on the receipt it said "Squishmallow happy meal". When we received both happy meals, there was no Squishmallow. We asked the cashier if we could have a Squishmallow toy instead, she said they were all out. Quite disappointed with this, call it silly but this IS false advertisement and it is something establishments get sued for. read more

This woman was incredibly rude with my husband my two friends and I , she literally kicked us out , she said that it was passed 11 pm so we needed to leave, but we were still finishing our meal, and secondly because I was with my dog ( 6yr yorkshire) that is an actual service dog, and she didn't believe me, so she treated me like a lier, she discriminated me and also my dog, and we couldn't finish the meal that we pay for. I've noticed this McDonald's has the worst customer service in the evening than any other time of the day. I recently came here for a frappe and two kids meals. The young lady who took my order was nice. Wish I would've seen her name to include in this review but I didn't however I can describe her a little (so hopefully if the manager is reading this, he/she can know who the nice employees are.) She looked young, maybe early 20's, Caucasian, and had on a tattoo choker necklace that was super popular in the 90's. When I pulled up to the next window, I could see another employee making my frappe. When she was done, some of the frappe was on the outside of the cup, dripping down as she put the lid on. Common sense would be to wipe it off before handing it to the customer. I expected too much from this employee. She just hands it over, getting the frappe all over my hand. I nicely asked for some napkins and the look on her face made me think McDonald's charges their employees for every napkin they give to customers. (Do they? I've never worked here.) She hands me some napkins and didn't say a word and walked away. I had two more items I was waiting for, chocolate milk for the kids meals. They are in a small refrigerator. She could have easily grabbed them and hand them to me so I could be on my merrily way but no, she chose to start making the other customers orders instead. I'm waiting, she's ignoring me and by this time there are about 3-4 cars behind me. So, to the people who were behind me, this employee who I think "Cecilia" is her name, would rather you wait longer in line and by the time you get your order, it has been sitting, getting cold or melting (I saw her make a frappe) just so she can be petty. The other employee (90's tattoo choker necklace gal) comes walking up from the other window to ask Cecilia what I'm waiting for. "Chocolate milk" grumpy Cecilia answers. The nice employee quickly gets the chocolate milks and hands them to me. Took her three seconds. I read an article that McDonald's is looking to hire people this summer who are a lot older, like in their 40's and +. The reason being they provide better customer service. Watch out, Cecilia, you could be replaced by someone's aunt or uncle or even grandparent. read more

Today 2/6/21 about 6pm we arrived to order and as we were ordering there was a rude person taking the order and sounded with attitude (hey if this is not your type of work don't somewhere that requires customer service". Then as we drive up we made the payment and the receipt was not clear so I know they over charged me for my food. As we drove up to the next window to get our food we were looking to make sure everything was in the bags. Meanwhile we asked for light ice in our drinks and my husband asked that if we can have less ice in one drink only and they did give us less ice along with the drink all they did was spill some over and didn't add more soda! So by the time the drink was given I was still making sure I had everything at this time the manager looked through the window and she had an attitude as she ask "is there a problem" and I just told her that we didn't order a certain burger and she said "well that's what you ordered" so we kept it. The manager first off is okaying for her workers to be rude and not have great customer service. Remember manager all eyes are on you and if this is not what you want or like to do then let someone that has a better attitude about things and know how to help the customer better take over! Our boy's soccer team stopped here for dinner and the cashier assumed because our players are not white skinned that they couldn't understand English and made the accusation verbally! She was the only cashier and our boys were patiently waiting on her slow order taking and inability to count change properly. Management was informed and she asked her if she'd lime to switch stations. And the women's restroom was in dire need of attention. No paper, no seat guards and trash overfilled cans in stalls.
