I recently had an incredibly frustrating experience with the McDonalds at 1020 Ottawa St N in Kitchener where I've been a regular at for over 20 years. What started as a simple visit for a coffee quickly escalated into a series of issues that left me deeply dissatisfied with both the service and the way I was treated. It all began early this month when I ordered a coffee. The person making it was wearing street clothes, which struck me as unsanitary. After taking a sip, I noticed something foreign in the drink -- it appeared to be a piece of fabric or lint from their clothing. Disgusted, I called the head office to file a complaint, as I felt that the restaurants hygiene standards were clearly compromised. Instead of a simple apology, I was told later that same week by a manager that I was now banned from that location. According to the manager, this was because I had made a "false complaint," which is completely untrue. My complaint was legitimate, and I was treated like a criminal for raising a concern. Things only got worse when my adult daughter and 12-year-old son tried to visit the McDonalds the following Monday. The same manager told them that they, too, were banned from the establishment. This was not only baffling, but also completely unfounded. My son, a child, that had nothing to do with this situation, was banned for no reason. What if he was to be invited by a friend to go there? Is he supposed to tell them he can't because his mother made a complaint and got banned for it? To make matters worse, my daughter had already placed an order through the app and, after waiting nearly 20 minute, was unable to get a refund. When she contacted head office, they couldn't issue a refund but instead gave her loyalty points, which is hardly an adequate resolution. As a customer who has supported this business for over two decades, I've never caused any trouble or raised complaints without reason. I've always been respectful and patient, but this experience has left me questioning how they handle their costumers. When I tried to get help from head office, they told me they couldn't intervene because this McDonalds is privately owned and that the owner already knew and agreed with the restaurant's decision. It seems like this lack of accountability allows for poor management and customer service to persist unchecked. I'm beyond disappointed, l wouldn't recommend this location to anyone else. I have a large personal and professional circle and have made all of them aware of this situation and all agree with me that the way all of this was handled was highly unprofessional and have all decided they would not be returning to that location or any of the two locations owned by the same person. If you value good service and respect as a customer, you may want to consider other options. read more

Went at 3 am expecting it to be slow... I had to try and communicate through a drive through window. All they had was poutine and cold fries. It was a 15 minute wait for the grill to heat up...left with a milkshake, fountain drink. If I could give zero stars I would it was a waste of 22$ and the gas to and from. This place differs depending on who's working. The staff can be friendly and quick when bringing out orders, but is often times disorganized, social with each other instead of working, and never has the condiments and straws table fully stocked. I've also noticed some of the staff is quite rude to the teenagers that share fries or something in there- kicking them out for nothing (an actual quote from employee "you haven't bought anything worth you sitting there for 10 minutes" as group of kids sit drinking soda and being perfectly quiet.) It is usually very busy, too, and in my opinion, not worth going to most of the time. read more

I sat at the speaker for like 10 minutes without any response, then the lady finally came to the speaker and I ordered a grand big mac, then she yelled at her co workers asking if they had grand Big Macs without muting her mic, she told us she wasn't getting a straight answer so we got Big Macs instead, and there was 1 out of the 4 missing in the bags, the lady at that till should be fired and shamed for the lack of brainpower, and the ability to speak and take basic orders. read more

Worst McDs experience ever which says a lot. Was here for an hour and a half for a family catch up. Saw only one table be wiped down, after it was requested. A spilled drink at a booth went uncleaned the entire time I was there rendering it useless. Saw several people look for a clean booth and upon not finding any, leaving without buying anything. Our orders were missing items or wrong, requiring several trips back to the counter. When we went to leave and tried to throw out our garbage, the cans were overflowing forcing us to leave it neatly stacked at one of the uncleaned booths. Will avoid in the future as I fear for the state of the kitchen. read more
