Prices tend to be on the expensive side especially when buying a prime cut of steak but the meat is top quality, so give them a try. I'm sure you'll be pleased. Also inside is Vera's Burgers. One of the best hamburgers in Ottawa. My buddy Brian and I go there several times a year and enjoy the great food. I'm upset that they stopped selling Coke in the glass bottles. That was a nice touch. Drive out to Bells Corners and enjoy Vera's and the Butchery. Cheers! Zee Mitchell

Don't come here hungry! Wow!…read moreThis popped up when I plugged in 'butcher' near me. 15 min away. My first visit was a Sat. So busy! And for good reason. I was blown away by all the meat, the prepared goods. Burger counter. Some seating. Freezer choices. Some dried goods, bread. I got away with Chorizo, some lean ground beef and some beautiful olive oil. Is this place cheap? No! But, I pay for quality without batting an eye. Especially foodie stuff. Next round was a Tuesday aft. Ahhh. Better. I could see everything, not so packed. It was just after a long weekend so some things were sold out but I grabbed more lean beef, a chicken parm portion, a beef Jamaican patty and a stuffed potato. All were good! The chicken portion from the fresh cabinet was $11.50! More than my lb of ground beef! But it was a filling piece and fed me x 2. I love this place.

It was nice today and not too busy. Tons of the tables in the middle of the butchery to sit at. Service was pretty quick too! The hubs ended up grabbing so prepared items to take home, and some fresh sliced ham. Its not cheap, but a nice treat once in a while.

The staff was attentive and very accommodating, and allowed me to change my order slightly after paying for it (I asked to add pickle slices) (which they did at no extra charge, I might add!) They were well organized, and efficient - all the while, with everyone wearing face masks thanks to COVID. There was a long lineup, which moved swiftly. Note: Vera's shares store space with The Butchery. Obviously they get their meat next door; good advertising for each other!! Five stars for being very impressive for this visit! They have shared seating between the counters, and a variety of sauces and spices to choose from, to take home and try out. Already looking forward to my next visit!!

After having a horrible experience with this chain a few years ago, I wrote them off completely. I…read morewanted to give them another chance since I was out of town and wouldn't be giving the Waterloo location business. Now, I'm done completely. I was going to an event that I had a time reservation for and planned to have an hour to dine here, as that is usually more than enough in most restaurants. There was an accident, which prolonged traffic by 10 minutes, but once I arrived, I figured 50 minutes would be enough. The restaurant is on the smaller size and it seemed as if they were really busy. There was a baseball team eating in there, but they got up and left a few minutes after I sat down, so they had been finished for a little while. I waited for almost 15 minutes for someone to just come to my table and take my order. Now, I'm going to harp on something that restaurants have been doing to cheap out on their diners for a few years now. You used to go to a place to eat and get a full sized drink, I'm talking tall glass, at least 10-12 oz. Drinks back then were $8 - $10 average, but you got a DRINK. Now they use little highball glasses and charge $14 -$18 a drink. This has really started to get under my skin. It skyrockets the price of your total bill, especially if you indulge in a second. It's gotten to the point I've pretty much decided to stop having a drink with dinner anymore when going out. This place was the extreme. Another way they cheat you is by filling up that tiny glass with ice so that there is barely any drink in it at all. I asked my server to go easy on the ice. Please, look at the attached picture of the drink. The picture I took was before I had even a single sip. I was so angry, I was done right then. I had been at the restaurant for 45 minutes and still had no food. I flagged down my server and told her I had to leave because of an appointment. They did pack up the food to go, but have you ever tried to eat poutine in your car? I decided to at least take a bite before leaving. Took a BIG bite because at this point I was starving. No pineapple. I opened up the bun and there was no pineapple in sight, no cheddar cheese, no bacon jam. ALL of which this ripoff joint charges extra for. 2.50 for a slice of pineapple and the bacon jam. $1.50 for the cheese. I really needed to go, but went back in to tell her. She apologized and went into the kitchen and came back and said the pineapple was there. She had me life the patty. Yes, there was, I kid you not. 1/4 of a ring of pineapple slice. No wonder I didn't taste it. 2.50 for a quarter of a ring? So I paid 6.50 for toppings I essentially didn't get. She told me they took half off the burger for the extreme wait and the bill was still over $40! Horrid service, skimping on drinks and food. When you cheat your customers like this, they won't return. Did you really save anything? This place is overpriced anyway. When I eat out, I don't mind paying $100 for a bill with a good portion of quality food and a fairly priced drink. But this crap? I'll never go back again. They should call it The Ripoff Works. Done. Forever.

I actually think I've had it once before, but that would've been 15ish years ago so I think enough time has passed haha I also had it topped with shrimp, which I don't think the Works even has anymore as an ingredient. I chose a sesame multi-grain and upgraded to a Kobe-style wagyu beef patty, bun and sweet potato fries with a side of Beechhouse sauce. As you can imagine, this order was quite expensive, since the Works burgers are already pretty pricey. The sweet potato fries were worth the upgrade, in my opinion, especially with the extra Beechhouse sauce for dipping. They were crispy, not too greasy or salty, and there were plenty. I always love their unique Beechhouse sauce and it's perfect with the sweet potato fries instead of mayo or ketchup. I know it has carrots in it because you can see the small shreds, but it's not like a carrot dip (ha!); I just find it really flavourful. The burger was good, but I wish I had just ordered the standard Canadian beef patty. My husband ordered it and his was less done than mine, which I liked better. My patty was smaller and more cooked, which made it drier and bit less flavourful, in my opinion. The Beechhouse sauce and avocado helped the dryness of the patty, and the crumbled feta added that bit of salty flavour. The tartness of the few sun-dried tomatoes brightened it up a bit and wasn't overpowering. I also got a Caesar that was the daily special and it was good. The food was made and presented well and service was friendly. I'm sure we'll be back here if we're craving the Works in the future.
