Ok, this place is an older McDonald's; but it's in Kalkaska and everything there is a little dated. But the cool thing about Kalkaska is that everyone is so damn nice. The people at this drive thru were some of the nicest McDonald's employees I've ever met. Talked about the beautiful blue skies on a 24 degree day and when they said have a good day they meant it. If you use this McDonalds, as I did on November 15, 2023, be alert to likely problems with your order and getting charged for something you did not order. Had a very simple drive through order for a milkshake, which costs around $3. Gave the attendant a $10 bill, and realized I only got a dollar and some change. When I pulled up to the pick up window [realizing too late that I had just spend $9.41 in a milkshake] they attempted to give me someone else's order; I got the right item but the staff refused to assist with the wrong charge, stating "Sir, we don't set the prices." read more

Tried the curbside for first time. Recieved only half my order when lady handed us the bag of food and left immediately. I had to go inside for missed food. Left and opened my burger bun and it was not even what I ordered. I then had To go back. When I arrived the manager was the same 19 yr old that forgot half my order the first time. She looked at my order and became very sarcastic when I had commented about the less than acceptable service. No apologies, just all mouth and not professional and in my opinion, not yet ready for managerial position, atleast not on the social side. She was snippy with the other two eldery ladies ahead of me, and 3 people Left inside because nobody came up front to take their orders. Higher wages doesn't mean better service. This Macdonald's has inadequate customer service. Today I thought I called hungry Howies but I had the wrong number and the woman over the phone was disrespectful towards me and cursed at me. This is not the way to treat costumers, even if you think they're question is foolish. And to the lady on the phone, I'm aware it's a business and I'm sorry if I interrupted your very hard day at work. But the food is great! Love McDonald's. read more

Employees are very rude! I kindly asked the female at the second window to take back the cardboard drink carrier as I don't need it for two beverages. She proceeded to shove it in my car window and stated, "I can't take it back, you touched it." I had NOT in fact touched it. I took the cups from the top, not touching the carrier and she let go of the cardboard carrier, turned around and closed the window. The employees should be less lazy. It really wasn't all that big of a request on my part. Will pass by this location and get my coffee elsewhere from now on! read more

This McDonalds is a really good one. It's owned/managed by the Holka family. You can tell they really care about quality.

The person at the counter couldn't understand a coupon for a free coffee. I just wanted the black coffee as pictured and in writing on the coupon. I thought that the manager would set them straight but they were too busy. The next McD's that I went to had no difficulty understanding the coupon. read more

The woman's bathroom was not very clean. I know the building is old an needs a little work, but the corners are gross. We always stop at McDonalds because they are usually clean. This is the second time it was this way here. Food was good. Just need help on cleaning! read more

Drive thru was fast. Order was correct. Food was hot. Woman at the window was nice. Main reason for the 5th star, tho, is the fact that she wiped off my drink. Nothing turns a 4-5 star place into a 1 faster than a sticky drink cup. Well, except bugs. And hair in my food. And, of course, toenails. I was at this McDonald's while visiting my brother at the beginning of August 2015. There was a very destructive storm with downed trees, power lines and power outages. This McDonald's did have power- and was extremely busy the morning of Aug 3rd when I was there. It was packed with people both inside and at the drive thru. The staff was AMAZING !! Everyone was working so hard and working so well together to get everyone served. The staff were all so nice and helpful too. No attitude from anyone and they all worked their butt's off ! They deserve big praise... and raises ! GREAT JOB ! read more

Food is good despite it all. Service is consistently terrible every time I stop there. Won't be stopping here again. Manager had a young lady training on the register during lunch rush today. The trainee said that she didn't know how to count change and wanted her shadow to double check it. She even said she flunked Math. Not the right person to put on a register, especially at a peak time. Take her in a back room and teach her how to count change first. Been at the drive through before where it took forever and now I know why. Then after I ordered, I waited 10 mins to fill my order for 2 people. I wrote this so hopefully someone will read and let McDonalds Corp know that this location is mismanaged. read more

First, it was hard to understand the man at the drive-though. I ordered at Pico-Guac/gr. chicken. The chicken was so tough that I had to use a steak knife to cut it. It was impossible to bite it. Three napkins were in the bag but I was glad I waited until I got home to try to eat it. It was so sloppy you need a bath towel. read more

This is my favorite place to meet friends for coffee and light food. The staff is exceptionally friendly. Only three stars because the music is so loud it's difficult to carry on a conversation, which is the purpose of socializing. When we've asked them to turn down the volume or turn it off, we've been told they can't do either! read more

Horrible service. Walked out after waiting 20 minutes with NO help, not even a nod although they weren't busy inside and only ONE car came through the drive-thru while I waited. How workers can completely ignore customers outright like I was tonight is incredulous. I'll go to Burger King from now on! read more

I just wanted to say that the one worker I had who took my order and did the money at the first window seriously deserves a raise. She was working at 9:25 pm on 8/8/20. She dealt with my long order, and made me feel so comfortable while ordering because I'm usually shy and panicking. I asked for ketchup and she said she would give me 10, which would be 5 extra just for me. I got 15 which is amazing. Might seem like a very small thing but that rarely every happens when I go out to eat. Then at the window she was super friendly. Seemed like the sweetest woman I've ever met and she definitely deserves a raise. Not that she did this but the food was hot and fresh. The only reason I didn't give this a 5 star is because I got pickles on my burger when I didn't ask for any. I checked the receipt and she had actually rung it up correctly, someone just made it wrong. The woman at the window handing out the food on the other hand, slammed the window open and was talking in a rude tone, didn't say goodbye or anything. Other than that, amazing experience. read more

Worst McDonald's ever, stood there for 15 minutes waiting for food, they would keep taking orders without sending out food until the counter was full of receipts, then they got confused and gave my order to someone else. This place obviously lacks management. I would have flipped a table if they weren't attached to the floor. P.S. if you do go here for some reason get your food to go, the loud 50's pop music is really annoying. read more
