Sorry for the lateness of my Yelp review, here. Mia Culpa. About three weeks ago my hubby and I decided to check out the renovations that were recently finished in this particular McDonalds at 1927 W. Franklin Blvd in Gastonia, NC. We were especially interested in seeing what the new kiosk machines looked like as well as finding out how easy they were to use (or not), especially for older people who might not be too 'computer literate'. :) We found that the kiosks were basically very easy to understand and use, and the Menu words and pictures are definitely large enough to see. Also, figuring out how to order a single item versus a meal, and something small, medium, or large wasn't hard at all. These kiosks are very similar to using a cell phone in that you can move a 'page' up or down with your finger if you can't see everything posted on that particular 'page'. You can pay by debit card/credit card at the kiosk or you can pay cash at the register (with a real person manning it!). The only thing I don't know is how to get your sandwich WITHOUT something on it...like pickles or mustard. But then, we didn't order anything that needed something kept off of it. Thankfully, though, there seems to be one or two employees stationed by the kiosks for your "questioning pleasure". (They also tend to the tables/floors, keeping everything neat and clean.) Now to the food we received: We ordered a Double Quarter Pounder w/cheese meal and a Fish filet meal. Both meals...meat, fish, fries...were cooked just fine. The Sweet Tea was a bit overpowering in the 'sweet' department', though. They could easily cut the sugar down by a third of what they're now putting in and it'd still be sweet...just not "teeth-curling" sweet as it was, yesterday. Also, the tea tasted 'old' as though it had come from the bottom of a pot or pitcher. Also, it seems the employees may have forgotten that their soda machine doesn't make its own ice but, instead, has to be manually filled by an employee just like the Sweet Tea 'pot' which also has to be filled manually. BOTH WERE EMPTY WHEN WE ATTEMPTED TO FILL OUR DRINK CUPS RIGHT AFTER ORDERING AND BEFORE SITTING DOWN...(Thankfully, one of the employees stationed by the kiosks got our ice tea and ice water.) AND THEY REMAINED EMPTY WHILE WE ATE OUR FOOD THERE, CURIOUSLY WONDERING JUST WHEN SOMEONE WOULD COME OUT FROM IN BACK AND REFILL THESE TWO ITEMS. NOPE...NEVER SAW ANYONE REFILL THE ICE, THE SWEET TEA OR, FOR THAT MATTER, ANYTHING ELSE. Overall, this McDonalds is still basically like all the others except that this one now uses kiosks for food ordering. Oh...and upon entering this building, WATCH YOUR STEP! The floor was being washed at the entrance AND NO "WET FLOOR" SIGN WAS PUT OUT! Yet, I observed that the closet where these signs are stored had its door wide open...with several "Wet Floor" signs leaning against the back wall area. In fact, just about the entire area where customers walk to get to a kiosk or the register was very wet! (Thankfully, I was looking down and caught myself as I started to slide!) True, it's possible that this No-Wet-Floor-Sign situation was a one-time occurrence but then, it only takes one time for someone to slip, fall, and SUE. THE EMPLOYEES AT THIS MCDONALDS NEED TO BE TRAINED THAT "NO SIGNS WARNING THE PUBLIC OF FLOORS BEING WET MEANS LAWSUITS IF A PERSON SLIPS AND FALLS!"...and that employees could possibly be sued, too. read more

Respectfully all workers are slower than a fucking turtle. Can't even pack food in the right order. all need to be re trained

If I could give zero stats I would. I have lived in 9 different states and the West Franklin location in Gadtonia is the ABSOLUTE worst McDonald I have EVER experienced. The staff is extremely incompetent, extremely rude, and have no idea what customer service is all about. After a minor verbal altercation, an employee threatened to call her boyfriend to come and blast me. That is definitely a threat on my life. I will never go.there again. They should be shut down for good. YES, its that bad. read more

Absolutely terrible and I LOVE McDonald's normally. They are never able to get your order right and when they do get it right, the food takes at least 10 min to be made. Place is just bad. read more

Worst run McDonalds I've ever been to. if you order and pickup at the drive thru, once you pay they make you leave the property. Crazy, right? They come over, knock on your window and tell you that you can't eat there, and that you have to leave. When I asked why, they tell you that the parking lot is only for "inside customers", not drive thru. In a post Covid world, many people prefer to eat in their vehicles instead of a dining room. If there ever was a restaurant that deserved to go out of business, this is it. read more

Horrible experience tonight. All that McDonald's swms to be hiring is ghetto people. How can you not read what an order that litteraly was ordered in store has? Was missing a happy meal, and one of the young girls was mad and made an "OH MY GAWD " yell. Please teach these kids manners. The 2 McDonald's were cold, and we asked for the Pokémon meals they had given us the tot toys ‍ I guess the manager tried, but tbh lately McDonald's is not what we grew up with. Didn't get my order correct. Wanted me to drive 10 miles back to the store to pickup my drinks. Offered no options and said they wouldn't refund $ to the card I used... Was belligerent and uncooperative. read more

Every time I get food from here, it seems the order is wrong or missing something even when I place a mobile order. How hard is it to read a ticket and put the items in a bag? Today, I ordered a happy meal and the McDouble meal deal. I chose honey for the dipping sauce and they gave me honey mustard. Then they forgot my nuggets with the meal deal. Of course I didn't realize until I got home. Come on people, do your job. read more

Food is okay for most part, but the service is horrible. It's like they don't even read the orders on the screen. But this time in particular I order a breakfast burrito and a gravy biscuit meal and we get there and they claim they have NEITHER, which is a blatant lie. They just didn't want to make it bc they were switching over to lunch and I'm furious. All together we spent almost 30 dollars on just breakfast and they gave me a bunch of breakfast sandwiches instead bc, again they were "out" of everything? Yeah okayyyy. The ambiance is mid, mid bc the workers and service are way below mid it's not even funny. read more

They always park you in a drive thru spot. Very poorly managed. Food is cold by the time you receive it.

Every time I go to this McDonald's it's always something. And now here we are in the middle of a pandemic I haven't tried eating out at all to keep everyone safe. The workers are essential and seem mad at everyone that is going to their restaurant and doesn't care. I ordered a cheeseburger kids meal with extra fries and a 2 cheeseburger meal large. Go to the pay window and the woman says NOTHING then puts out her hand so I paid her. No receipt, no have a nice day, I look up and say is that it? she gives a thumbs up. Get to the pick up window No happy meal boxes No happy meal toy Was told that I received an extra fry instead of a toy because they were out. So I should have received at least 2 kids meal fries and a small. No I received a small fries for the 3 that I was told I was given. I have my 3 year old and there's a line behind me it's dinner time. I get halfway home and go to take a drink of my soda and it's only 2/3 full. No I didn't ask for no ice and no I wasn't told that they were out of ice. Get home my buns are hard the mayonnaise tastes sour. It's like they know that since we're taking our food home so who gives a S$&T! All of the fast food employees seem to think that the ones that are utilizing their service to serve food aren't all of the people that are out collecting unemployment. I'm not getting paid anything to be a stay at home mom... yet here I am trying to do great at my job... The employees at this location are a bitter bunch of people who will never deserve more than minimum wage. I worked the McDonald's drive thru at 16. It's not hard to be decent. It's not hard to understand that others might be going through something that day. OR MAYBE because our child begged to eat out for a change. Oh and nice move not giving me a receipt so that I can't have a record of my purchase and maybe I can't complain about it either. Get your head out of your ass a do the job you applied to have so that you can pay your bills. If you can't do it right there are others right behind you ready for the opportunity. read more

Please note that I am aware we are in the middle of a pandemic, but the challenges we have had and continue to have with this McDonald's started way before the pandemic. I have contacted the district manager in the past and received a "we will work on it", "let me send you a gift card for the trouble" and "I will address this with the team"! I don't know what was said but no change happened and no gift card for a whole order that was wrong. All I can say is check your order because it is never all there. There will always be something missing and since you can't go in you have to wait in the ridiculous line to get your missing product and by that time the remainder of the meal is cold. Also, we have experienced the reason behind wrong items, the staff is too busy flirting with others to pay attention. Now, what we keep experiencing is getting in line and they are "not accepting orders", but they are open 24 hours a day but fail to let anyone know they are not accepting orders and the lines are wrapped around the building and out in the street or you wait in line to only be informed that they can only accept cash because their card system is down.This is not occasionally, it is EVERY TIME!!! Also items that show in the app as not available after midnight, this locations stops preparing after 10 pm. Management of some form would be nice because when they "can't take orders", it is a party inside the building for the workers. read more

Since the Dallas, NC location claimed their system was down, I was forced to go to a different location for breakfast. So I went to this location. 5:30 am & they were only accepting cash. These days, what are the odds of people having cash on hand, especially at 5:30 in the morning? Luckily, I did. When I got home, I found that they had messed up my order. I ordered 2 sausage, egg & cheese mcmuffins. Both had no cheese & they had folded eggs instead of the round eggs they were supposed to have. My husband was unable to eat his breakfast.He said it tasted funny. read more

Don't ever try to go to this McDonald's early in the morning! They always have an excuse as to why they can't take your order! My husband even tested it out one week and 5 out 6 days, the "system was down" or they had some other kind of excuse. Also, it takes at least 15-20 minutes for each order. Every time. I cringe when my daughter wants McDonald's. I usually tell her I'm not going because of how slow it is. I wish they'd actually do something about it because complaining to Corporate hasn't done anything either. It's been like this for the 9 years I've been living in Gastonia. read more

When the machine is broken (as it always is) at the Walmart McDonald I would drive a few minutes to this McDonald's. It's seem to be a common practice that if you order a medium frappe you may as well just order a small. (SEE PICS). As there were other vehicles in the drive thru I didn't say anything so as not to hold up the line. I have on several occasions complained. I'm apologizing in advance if I hold up the drive thru because I will take the tincomplain. If there was on option for zero star that's what I'd give. read more

I am a DoorDasher and picked up an order. Went inside like we are suppose to do. Two managers on duty and 1 was bagging orders. She was not wearing gloves. Also the girl doing fries was also not wearing gloves and I witnessed her pick up a fry that fell out on the tray where they put the fries and put it in the container for a customer. I would never eat at this restaurant. They clearly don't care about Covid. I can't review without any stars but believe me if I could there would be none. read more

This place needs closed down. Fully staffed but still messed up my food, brought it back, and been waiting for 15 minutes. Ridiculous

Imagine being such a bad manager that your employees can't even do their job because you're yelling constantly. I came through drive through a I got 2 mcchicken plains, with some other things. My order was messed up 3 times. We went in to get it fixed all we heard was the manager constantly degrading her employees to the point they are not able to do their job. read more

I pulled up expecting the ice cream machine to be down at quarter till 11PM, but I was proven wrong. I was also expecting lackluster apple pies, however I received apple pies with chunks of apples & well proportioned filling. Drive thru associates were courteous and prompt. Well damn! I deserve one star for going in with low expectations & this location needs 5 stars! read more

I downloaded the Yelp app just to give this place a review and only gave one star as it's required to give at least one ... they suck to say the least . I get the same thing every morning and every morning I have to send it back bc it's not correct . And when you let them know it's not correct they act like they are so incredibly busy they can't help you . I usually am the only one in line as I come after my third shift job. This is the worst McDonald's I think I have ever been to in my entire life I sit outside for an hour waiting to get my food in the line and then they're going to tell me that they're closed. I came another day and waited an hour in line for them to tell me that they don't have no chicken nuggets or patties or no meats they are always backed up they are always so slow I think everyone that works there deserves to be fired read more

Can't get orders right to save their lives. And the only way you're going to get it fixed is to talk to a manager. If you tell them they messed the order up, most employees get an attitude and demand to see the receipt and order. It's like the employees don't believe that they can't make mistakes. I only recommend going if the line isn't as long as the other places around, and you don't have time to drive further to go anywhere else. read more

Placed order at 8:16am and it took until 8:33am to get the food. We ordered in and sat down and was told they would bring it to us. And she forgot. I turned around in my seat and was looking at the counter and the lady that rung us up was walking back from talking and laughing with the lady at the drive-thru window and she just happened to look out to the lobby and seen me looking and she said, "OH", and turned and walked to the back and then another lady immediately brought our food. Pay attention and do your job or stay at home and allow other people that actually want to work do the job. read more

One star is too much. The grounds are kept nicely during the day!! And the staff day or night are very rude. Snatch your money from you. Give you wrong wait times. The ice cream taste funny for whatever reason. They just did a remodel but if you don't change the people with the remodel it doesn't change! The women who work in the windows and front counters need to be retrained on how to speak to customers. The fake nails shouldn't even be allowed makes my skin crawl, how often do you see anyone wash their hands????? I haven't in the many times I have been there. Store manager is never there to answer questions or resolve problems. People are always arguing with the managers and staff period, it makes the neighborhood look the way you expect! It's like Walmart on west end people don't care!! The only thing nice about this restaurant is the fact that there is one maintenance man who works and keeps the grounds clean trash cans aren't running over when he's there that's nice to know at least it's clean!!!!!!
