This is the slowest McDonald's ever. Drive thru moves at a snails pace. Every time. It's rather ridiculous.

Time for a little update!…read more It's been a hot minute since we've been back to visit -- four years, actually -- and the fact that this gem still exists says something! This time we brought the whole family for dinner. I'd recommend reservations on weekends since it was packed, but we got seated right away because we planned ahead. Our waitress was top-notch -- high energy, charming, attentive. I'd give her 6 stars if I could! She read our crew well and adapted to each individual at the table -- a skill that clearly came from experience, and it served her (and us) well. Everything we had was great: cocktails, appetizers, dinner -- not a bad thing on the table. But the standouts for me were the Buffalo Cauliflower and the Spicy Shrimp Shio Ramen. For drinks, the seasonal Crazy (whiskey, Amaro Montenegro, beet, cayenne, lemon, egg white) and the Veruca Salt (tequila, coconut, avocado, pineapple, lime) were both incredible. I loved them so much I'm making a special trip back to town during my stay just to have them again ;) Bravo, State Lunch! You've got a fan for life. Book that reservation -- you won't be disappointed.

I got a burger with egg and it was flavorful and well constructed. The garlic Parmesan fries were some of the best I've ever had and I recommend that you add the garlic aioli! Although the other wait staff had feelings about us requesting to sit outside, Ethan was awesome and more than made up for the other staff's prickly response to the request.

The A1 diner was a spot we had to check out on the family's trip to Maine. Lucky for us, the Mayor…read moreof Flavor Town gave his stamp of approval on Triple D. An old rail car sitting on the corner. It is a small and unassuming spot. You step in and it is a very tiny place. Your typical diner set up. Counter seating and booths opposite them. And the window to get the food from the kitchen. They don't have a gluten free menu, but they are well aware of small changes they can make or take away to fit the dietary needs. I went with the South of the Border Burger. No bun, pepperjack cheese and chili. They all blended together so well. The slight spice of the chili and cheese was a great topping mixture for the beef patty. The fries were right in the middle of crispy and soft. The North of the border burger was, "very tasty. Awesome flavor!" Which is a good review from my Dad who isn't much for extra on details. My brother got the Korean BBQ sliders special (not on menu pictures provided). The flavors were awesome. Lucky the kimchi came on the side, my brother wasn't too keen on the fermented cabbage. My mom had the curried chicken wrap, no wrap. So the kitchen made it a salad for her. Sh loves salad and curry. So why not put them together for a dish she really loved. The staff were all extremely friendly. They seemed to know a lot of the patrons coming in. We had a fun time reminiscing about the Guy Fieri visit and other Maine celebrities that have stopped in. If I'm ever out this way again, I would love to come back. Excellent food. Excellent service. Great experience!!

It took a bit to get our order taken and over 30 mins to get our food: a strata with 2 eggs as a substitute for potatoes and greens, and 2 eggs, bacon, toast, and a side of corned beef hash. They had also run out of clean coffee mugs which left patrons we waiting for their coffee. The strata was a small portion and quite tasteless, except for the overwhelming taste of red peppers. Strata are usually made with eggs, stale bread, and other ingredients. There were no eggs listed in this one, so that is why I ordered sunnyside up eggs with it. The sunnyside eggs where overdone and quite browned on the bottom yet the yolk was not runny and the eggs were still undercooked on top. The corned beef hash, which we were told was stellar and television personality Guy Fierii loved, was abysmal. There were only tiny shreds of corned beef, not well seasoned, and mostly undercooked potatoes, celery, and onion. Even ketchup didn't help. Prices were very high for the serving size and quality.the strata was $18.00. Only on street parking, cramped quarters, high prices and less than stellar food. While by water, there is no seating overlooking the water. You can go outside to view. The service was excellent and the retro establishmnet is unique, but based on this experience, we would neither recommend nor return. Only on street parking.

I had chicken tenders, they were real chicken ++, crispy and cooked perfectly. Ice cream was amazing too!! We sat outside because we had our pup with us, plenty of clean places to sit. They were short staffed but you wouldn't really know it because everyone was nice and they still got everything out quickly.

We arrived during one of their car shows, what a fun event, all sorts of beautiful cars but they were very crowded and busy, but fun! The walls were plastered with old photos of hollywood stars from that era, they had a prop of an old gas pump outside, the booths were old fashioned and just random other things that time jumped you back into time. The waitress was prompt and attentive, surprisingly with how busy it was. They accept debit, credit and cash. The menu wasn't overly extensive, kinda wish they had a little more on it but it had enough to select from. They have two parking lots, both free, on a normal day there is plenty of parking. They are wheelchair accessible also. I wasn't a fan of the bathroom being outside, if your inside you have to go around to side of the building but it has electricity, it was cleaned and stocked, but still a little inconvenient on the location of the bathroom. You can definitely eat outside, there's so many places to sit, with a fully stocked condiment station located outside. They only open seasonally so call and make sure they are open. You can order your food from a couple windows from the outside, you don't have to go inside. If you want to order from your car you turn on your headlights to order and they come to your car and take your order, it's a pretty interesting system they have going on, when your done you leave your dishes on your hood and they retrieve it. Prices were decent, I didn't consider it super expensive. My husband had the greased lightening burger with sweet potato fries. It's a double patty burger with veggies, cheese and two mozzarella sticks inside it. He says it was good but the mozzarella sticks were dry but he loved the sweet potato fries. I had the blue cheese with bacon burger with onion rings. My onion rings were burnt and the burger was good but the american cheese didn't melt at all on it, it looked just like it was added last minute and never had a chance to melt. I enjoyed it but I've had better, we also had a couple clam cakes. Now those were very good! The peanut butter sundae soft serve was amazing, creamy peanut butter all through it. The soda was crisp and fresh, not flat. Don't get me wrong, we liked our food, we were happy and we will definitely be back, but there was no "wow" factor involved. It was very busy, they probably didn't have enough staff, so we understand. It's not a deal breaker. It's a very fun place, the staff was great and prices were reasonable. I would encourage families to come here, it's very family oriented, your children will have a blast here and there is plenty of dessert. The online menu is not updated, the menu at the restaurant is. Keep that in mind. They also have seafood such as, lobster rolls, whole belly clams, clam baskets, haddock baskets, scallop baskets, etc. Tons of burger choices, some dinner entree choices and salads. With that all being said, it was a pleasant experience, upbeat and a fun atmosphere. Overall, 3 stars!

They have a sideshow menu with wonderful and tasty options and a heck ton of drink options. Service was standard, someone graciously taking orders at the cash register, cheerful kitchen full of teens slinging pies in and out of the oven, and another busy person running orders out to tables. The vibe was fun, exciting, noisy, but we are happy to be here. Love it! If I was a teen growing up in this town, I'd be here after school everyday. Center of town. Doesn't get better than this!

So firstly I would recommend showing up early or to expect a wait especially on weekends. Also related to this their space is quite small it can be a little chaotic with finding a spot to sit. Despite the small space they have made sure it is very beautifully designed and amazing vibes overall. Makes sense why it is so popular honestly. We snagged some of their outdoor seats and enjoyed the nice weather with our breakfast. They have a good mix of sweet and savory and talking to some others in line they said you honestly can't go wrong with anything on the menu. They have a great amount of coffee drink options too and when you order a large they are not lying, it is huge. I finished mine during breakfast but my wife and mother got theirs in a to-go cup before we left and looked like a normal sized large still. Food wise I felt like I had to try their Blueberry French Toast and it did not disappoint, great take on the dish. Only real complaint I could say is I would prefer a little thinner slice of bread so it can soak a little better but no real complaints. My wife got the Librarian Omelette (minus mushrooms) and it was large and jam full, they did not skimp on ingredients. Her only real complaint was some bacon was thicker than she prefers but again minimal. If you are looking for a spot to grab some delicious breakfast and/or coffee in central Maine this should be near the top of your list. From the overall vibes to quality of drinks and food you will likely have a difficult finding a better spot.
