Well the employees were friendly. That is about the only nice thing I can say about this place. While I have never actually been to a hobo camp, I imagine this is what one would look like. There were more homeless people both inside and out than paying customers. While I realize homelessness is a serious issue I don't see why this restaurant doubles as the local homeless shelter. I counted at least a dozen homeless some with carts bikes and missing shirts loitering about and panhandling. I had a hard time locating the combination of both clean table and chair. When I went to fill my drink the drink station was covered in fruit flies. I felt uncomfortable with having my child there and ended up taking our order to go. Overall a disgusting experience. We stopped at the drive-thru on our way to the beach. What a mistake! First, the person taking our order cut the communication off before fully taking the order and giving us the total amount of the order. He just left us hanging there wondering if the order was complete or not. Maybe he was new and not very familiar with the system...anyway we got our order and went to the beach to eat. I can to this McDonald's ordering food and a large water with no ice. They handed me two small waters with ice so I kindly handed it back to them. The lady told me to pull forward so I did. The manager comes our and proceeds to yell at me saying I pulled into the wrong place and to pull into the online orders parking spot. He comes back and yells at me to tell me I and not driving fast enough and blocking the drive thru. I get emotional at this point because this has NEVER happened to me before I have never been yelled at over water. I work in fast food and I would never act this way with any customer. Tonight I tried the curbside pickup at this McDonald's and am so irritated by the results. Instead of getting a large orange soda, I was given a coke. My son's yogurt tube was hot so it wasn't safe to eat anymore. My bacon, egg and cheese biscuit was old and stale and my hash brown was cold. Yes, I should have checked my order more thoroughly before driving home, but I had a crying two month old and a tired four year old in the car so I quickly made sure all of my items were there and drove home. Once I got home, I realized everything that was wrong with my order so I called and after four attempts finally got a hold of Bertine (the manager?) I was mostly upset about getting the wrong drink and the yogurt that had to go in the trash, so I told her about those two issues. She never apologized, just told me to write her name on my receipt and bring it in whenever I can to get the items replaced. I went to grab the receipt while I was on the phone with her only to realize I was never given a receipt (yes, I later re-checked my car, diaper bag, etc. and I definitely was never given a receipt)! I let her know that I didn't get one and she said, "Sorry, without a receipt I can't replace any items". After explaining three more times that the employee never gave me a receipt and Bertine acknowledging that it isn't my fault that the receipt was never given, she offered no solution and told me I can't do anything without a receipt. Give me a break! McDonald's must be hard up to not be able to replace a soda and a yogurt without proof of purchase which I can actually provide since I purchased the meal on their app. But no, I don't have the receipt so I'm out of luck. So i was born and raised in Dana Point, been here about 28 years now. Been to this McDonalds countless times and have had no issue whatsoever, certainly nothing like what happened to me and my friends tonight. Me and two friends went up to order some burgers at the drive through around 12:30am tonight. We were taking a second to decide what we wanted to order, so naturally the young woman taking our order asked us what exactly we wanted. My friend in the back seat told her that he would like three cheeseburgers. The young woman taking our order then asked us to clarify. We told her three cheeseburgers. Again, the young woman asked what we wanted. My friend, who knows a good bit of Mexican-Spanish, then proceeded to ask her for 'tres hamburguesas con queso'. The young lady then told us 'have a good night', which we took to mean that she understood the order and wanted us to pull forward. Unbeknownst to us, when we pulled up to the window to take the order, we were met with a stern looking lady who informed us that she would not serve us. After a bit of incredulation and glances back at my car-mates, i asked her to clarify why they would not serve us. I was nothing but cordial to her, yet she could not give me a definitive explanation, other than the young lady taking our order was somehow offended that we tried to help her with the order by speaking Spanish.. Even after I realized this and asked the woman in the striped shirt who was at the pick-up window was upset for whatever reason, I pleaded with her to please clarify and maybe get our small order. She slammed the window closed and proceeded to pretend to call the police. We also noticed that this lady in the striped shirt, who I assume is the manager, removed her name tag before the entire encounter.. We are completely confused. read more

We ordered, payed, and drove off... I check the bag no peanuts for my sundae fine no big deal. This location needs to be visited by a health inspector right away. The bread is so stale you could probably get better use out of it for building material rather than food. The lettuce (if you can even call it that) is rotten and disgusting. The fries are terrible and often have a few odd/non-fry looking objects mixed in. It's obvious from the demeanor of the management and employees that absolutely no care or consideration goes into the preparation or maintenance of fresh food. Cutting corners at the DMV means waiting for long service, in the food industry it could mean a trip to the hospital with food poisoning. Do your stomach a favor and go someplace else. If you do make the regrettable mistake of entering this McDonalds, be ready to be set upon by dozens of homeless people asking you for money. read more

Camping at Doheny and stopped by here on 6/24/20 around 1:30pm to grab happy meals for the kids. Female took our order. As soon as I confirmed that my order was complete, I forgot to add another item in which I mentioned immediately. She sounded extremely annoyed and replied "Okayyyyy, I have to go back and open up your order again and add it..." so it came across very rude and unprofessional. There were 2 males at both windows when I drove up so I didn't see who she was. I ordered a plain cheeseburger meal with just ketchup and a plain hamburger meal. The hamburger meal came with cheese on it. So on top of the rude experience and customer service, my order was incorrect. As purposeful and patient as possible I waited, and waited yet still received the worst customer service and dining experience in years. Earlier tonight I arrived hungry but optimistic to a drive through line of 8 or so cars. I figured I could park, walk in and order quickly and be on my way. I planned for that and was like well since I am already here and parked let's order for here and if they messed up I could have them get it right. I would assume other people would Love to complain but I hate it.. there was a fair number of people eating in the place I got in line waited again ever so patiently. I was ignored by everyone handing out orders until the lady who took my order approached. She yelled I need a whole new burger and apologized. I told her what was missing and waited. She said it would be a while and she would bring it out to me. When she brought it to me and walked away I opened that clam shell box to find what looked like the same burger I returned sans Pico. So lettuce and a bun with a dry Luke warm Patty. She called from across the counter is it alright now and I said "no it isn't but I'm too hungry to try again". I had been there 30 minutes and just now was eating... I had not eaten anything since 1:30 so I shamefully was stuck with this crafted creation of carelessness. If anything I'm upset with myself for not causing a scene. To not be more upset but I think they didn't intentionally mess it up. They aren't 100% to blame. Their job doesn't pay them that well... I made excuses for them to be anything to keep myself from being less of a person. I decided I could suppress my dissatisfaction and cool down after my stomach settled and my day had ended. I wasted my time and money and if you go here you will too. The employees here don't do their job, lack any sense of pride and don't care. That much was obvious. There was a manager I met with here my last trip who was great and I remembered she has been there for like 5+ years. If I ever was to return to this location and I don't see her I will walk out Immediately no matter how hungry I am. This has got to be the worst restaurant I have ever been to.You would think that since they're by the beach you can enough a good meal with a beautiful view of the ocean. It's sad, really. This McDonald's used to be a favorite spot for PCH drives. I don't know if it's COVID or what but the past few times I've gone this location has been a disappointment. Allow me to explain. Because there's nothing to do, for the past few months my dad and I drive down to this area of PCH every Friday night. The first time we went to get ice cream at the drive-thru at this location at around 10:40 PM they told us that they had just shut down their ice cream machine at 10:30, I assume for their closing duties. Now, as far as I'm aware they close their drive-thru at 1:30 AM on Fridays, so 10:30 PM sounds a wee bit early to start cleaning the ice cream machine but whatever. We went back another time and they gave us the same spiel, so we decided we'd rather get milkshakes at the Jack In The Box in Laguna instead. Their ice cream machine was up and running! But that's not even the worst part. Lately my dad and I have been going out earlier. We went to this McDonald's on two separate occasions, assuming that because it was during the wee hour of 9 PM that their ice cream machine would be running. Oh how wrong we were! So first they told us that they shut it down at 10:30. Now they're shutting it down at 9!? When they close at 1:30!? Preposterous! Look, I used to work at a restaurant that closed at 9 PM. I get it, we all want to get our closing duties over with as early as possible. Sometimes we would dismantle the ice cream machine at 8:30. But doing so hours before closing!? What!? Anyways, enough of my ranting. I really want to believe in this McDonald's, I really do. I have good memories of coming down here with my parents to get a bite to eat. Hence the 3 stars instead of 2. I'm writing this review more out of sadness than anger. Because I believe in this McDonald's. I want it to be the McDonald's that I remember it to be. since when is waiting for FRESH fries a crime?? i eat fries here 1-2 times a year. the gentleman taking my money at the drive thru was respectful, warm, and happy, but the person with my fries was so rude and spoke little english. the fries tasted stale, and when i offered with a smile to pull up and wait (when i ordered, i respectfully and tactully said i want to wait for FRESH fries dripping with hot oil), a different girl with an accent came unglued and shamed me (): "you really want me to throw these away?" and huffed when i said with a respectful smile "i would like to wait for fresh fries, please." so was the second batch fresh fries or the same ones? i honestly cannot tell. the experience left a bad taste in my mouth! oh wait. the fries halfway through are cold and hard. i will not be returning to that location!!!!! i paid almost $4 for something i specifically asked not to be served. :( read more

I've been going to this McDonald's For a few years now but in the past 6 months there seems to be a huge difference in quality of food and service. Ive ordered the crispy chicken tenders 3 separate times and each time the chicken was either over cooked, stale, or extremely oily. I've had to throw away a lot of food that I paid for because there is no quality control going on in the kitchen. All you have to do is look at the food and you will be able to determine whether it's okay to sell or not. Each time, the food didn't look acceptable. A few nights ago I went in to get an build your own sandwich, the sandwich came out fine but there was a long thick hair mixed with the melted cheese right across the whole sandwich. I could see it sticking from one side to the other, protruding from the food. I've lost my appetite for Mcdonald (probably for the better) and would not recommend this location to anyone. I did speak to the manager about my experiences but did not receive any information as to why this is so persistent nor did I receive new food or a refund. Part of the problem with this McDonald's is it's location. Given it's proximity to the beach, there's usually a lot of homeless people lingering around the restaurant, sometimes they hang out in the outdoor eating section. As of now, there is no kiosk to order, so you have to get in line. If you need to use the restroom, the manager has to unlock it for you, which is probably due to the previously mentioned homeless. They only have ketchup packets, not the squeeze pump with the little cups. read more

Well, what can I say but that 3 times repeating my order should be simple and clear to execute. Once to drive through person, another to pay window, and last to pick up window lady. It's not rocket science to make a double quarter pounder with only one slice of cheese and add lettuce and tomato; but apparently these goofballs suffer from "hard of hearing", short attention span for the excess tim spent on Facebook or playing video games, or maybe they suffer from complacency or lack of professional capacity due to poor leadership. Maybe they hate their job. Whatever the cause, they give the Mickey D brand a bad name. So I decide to walk across a busy street to demand this burger get done as ordered. The manager and workers who attended to me during my drive through, pretended I wasn't there while I shared the frustration nicely to the poor innocent lady at the front counter. She did her best to remedy a ridiculous situation and kindly asked if I preferred leaf or shredded lettuce. To make matters worse, I find a hair in the burger half through eating it. Never again. Do yourself and your family a favor and drive across the street and try Jack in the Box. Maybe they will do a better job. Just got done ordering from here. Grossest and nastiest people ever. My Mom can be very detailed and much, but when it comes to ordering from a fast food place, does she really have too?? We made a sharp turn into the crappy parking lot. My mom starts the order by a sweet greeting while the man just grunts and says "Hi". She asks for a kids chicken meal. He says what kind and my mom repeats, making sure he hears. He asks again without any details of what he's asking for and my mom again tells him.
