Judging a restaurant by what it's not isn't fair. It's a McDonald's, for God's sake, so don't expect Fallow. Is it healthy food? I think mostly, but it's not as bad as most other fast food places. There is such a thing as a "Big Mac Attack". I get them on occasion, and they taste exactly as they have for the 40 or 50 years I've been getting them. EXACTLY. So how can I give it less than 5 stars? I will say that after having tasted french fries from literally everywhere, I can truthfully say that no fries are better as a quick snack on a trip. When our uber eats driver didn't get 1 sandwich ( for my husband) and also tried leaving our order downstairs bc he didn't want to walk up our 3 flights of stairs in our apartment building. Service on 5/3 in the AM was horrible at the drive up. First of all I was given the wrong order. Directed to park and wait for my 2 item order. ~20 min. later I went inside to check on things. Was told the order will be up "in a few seconds". Waited 15 more minutes for them to reorder the meal. I was told by an employee that she would get back to me after she delivered another 2 drive up customers. 55 minutes later I asked for my money back Since I didn't get my food. Yes, they were busy and order mixups can happen but, I feel, the employees didn't have a clue about their job. Another patron ordered on the app and was waiting over 15 minutes before I walked in. He told me this is normal for Coal City. He said Braidwood was not much better but Wilmington was good (they knew what they were doing). read more

Went to McDonalds 8/15/24. Had 1 car in front of me and 1 car behind me..... that's it. All 3 cars had to wait for all food. They gave us coke instead of Dr Pepper and only gave us 1 cheeseburger out of the 2 cheeseburger meal. The big mac we got was swimming in sauce. Overall disappointed as it is very frequently where service is not up to par. I would rather drive the extra 10 minutes to the Braidwood location. read more

Hot or miss. Mostly miss. Orders are never right. Either missing something or not made correctly. During the day seems better. Alot of goofing around seems to go on after the day shift. One young guy who I'm think thinks he is a manager in particular seems to have an attitude and seems bothered to wait on people. Has been rude on a couple of occasions. This McDonald's never gets orders right, so if you're planning on going there for a one time trip, be prepared to turn around and correct your order. This restaurant is very unclean. The sweeping is rarely done, tables are sticky, and there are always flies bugging you and your meal. Customer service is poor since all of the employees are hush school students. Very poor attitudes. It might be better if you order online, but this restaurant has complications with technology and using online payment, so you might have to pay twice. Be warned! read more

I stopped into this McDonald's and got a quarter pounder meal with an iced coffee, the burger was fine the fries were fine, but the coffee tasted like mould. I returned to the McDonald's and the drive through was packed when I got there, I walked to the window and informed them that one of the machines was mouldy. I would've gone inside but this is furring the covid19 crisis so the lobby was closed. They did offer 5o make me another coffee but they "didn't have time to clean the machines while in operation" I really with I knew a health inspector because that's absolutely disgusting, I just counted my losses and bought a coffee at the gas station. By far the worst McDonald's I've ever been to in all my years. They get away with it because it's only fast food in our town. Ordered food and brought it home today to find once again order was wrong and items missing. Brought everything back. Mgr said he would give new food but was obvious when I got back home it was same burgers that were given first time and only fries were new. Food doesn't get cold in 2 miles. Coal City's McDonalds is one of the worst I have ever experienced and being I travel for a living I have visited many. If your lucky enough to get the correct food you can pretty well count on it not being good and if you complain don't expect much from the management either. It's unfortunate that the owner takes so little pride in his business and allows it to be ran the way it is. This McDonald's has an excellent night crew who are very attentive and try their very best to give you the most excellent service . While most people on these reviews tend to degrade and humiliate the employees (which by the way are mostly 16 and 17 years old), they have to realize the business. When there are hundreds of orders to be made, most with a request of some sort, the drive thru tends to get backed up and thus being slow. That's the nature of being the only fast food place in Coal City. In regards to management, Donna, the general manager, is excellent at her job to give you the best service that she can offer. She is constantly quality checking the grill team, service team, and addressing managerial control in her environment as well as maintaining her position. However, I've seen customers in the drive thru throw their drinks at the employees and cuss them out which is pathetic and absolutely rude. No person deserves to be treated that way even if the order was wrong. These are mostly high school kids that make mistakes like everyone else. It happens. Also, the shake machine can't make a successful amount of icecream if every car wants 14 sundaes, 20 cones, and 10 McFlurries. Please be considerate. EXCELLENT JOB COAL CITY!! I've never had an issue with this Mcdonalds until I've witnessed How managers Treat their employees. This one manager In particular with reddish hair and glasses I have witnessed yelling at the young employees multiple times. I know you have to get things in order but this is the most fake woman I've ever witnessed and if she really wanted to improve the outcome of her employees , she would know that yelling at them only may improve their abilities in that moment. Me being a superintendent In one of the Chicago public school branches, I know that yelling will get you no where if you want to improve how employees function. Of course Mcdonalds is more upbeat and faster moving and is nothing like a school district, but even with my experience of being the head of something, especially with children I know that yelling is not going to condition anybody to improve. If this lady thinks she is some sort of refined leader, she is crazy because leadership does not consist of yelling at the pace of workers or their mistakes. Assertiveness goes a long way , but with no yelling involved. These kids and all employees deserve so much better. I will be following up in the future. read more

Unfortunately this is our only choice in Coal City. Service is usually terrible. The only thing good they have going for them is the older woman that hands out the food thru the drive through in the morning, she always is polite and friendly.
