Then, after I sat down with my granddaughter Victoria while my daughter Alex stepped outside to grab her own meal from another restaurant, Jene noticed I was keeping an eye on Victoria. Rather than calling my number and making me come to the counter, she personally brought my meal to the table and said she knew I was watching my granddaughter. That simple act of kindness was completely unexpected and appreciated. It's the kind of customer service that people remember. One observation for management: Jene was also the only employee I saw who consistently had a smile on her face. Everyone else seemed like they were just getting through the day. Lastly, the biscuits were nothing to write home about. They were not bad but they didn't wow. Overall, I gave Shorty's a three because the food didn't wow me. There was not anything wrong with the food we had at all, and we will probably be back in the future to try some of their other food. Otherwise, my wife and I also loved the feel of the diner itself.
