I think it's worth mentioning that I've never had pit beef before so I am by no means an expert as to what's good or not. I will also say however, that what I ordered, the open face pit beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy was ok. The entire plate was swimming in gravy so that took away from what could've been a better meal. I did ask for gravy on the whole sandwich and the mashed potatoes (because the picture on their website looked like gravy only came on the mashed potatoes and I do like a little extra) but I wasn't expecting a to-go box literally full of gravy, so that's probably my fault. The texture of the beef mixed with all the gravy and mashed potatoes was a bit unpleasant and soupy and I periodically had to pick burnt bits and foil out my mouth so that also took away from the experience. They seem to have a pretty vast menu and I had no idea what I was going to get when I walked in. The young lady that took my order was very friendly and helped me come to my decision so the customer service was good and I appreciated her patience with me. As far as ambiance goes, while I was waiting for my order, there was an older man waiting for his order that was yelling at the tv about how Joe Biden hasn't done anything for this country and that Trump only told the truth. I try not to get caught up in politics with strangers because it really can be off putting but what can you do. I wouldn't do the gravy with a side of open face pit beef sandwich again but there's so many other options I'd like to try in the future should I find myself in the area again. For a couple of years, Jeremy and I have been going to Philly and trying some of their more famous sandwich shops. It's been great fun and I'm not going to stop, but I didn't expect that my local shops would fail so horribly when I needed something meaty, cheesy, oniony, quick. I've been eating Merritt Subs for a decade. Though, yeah, I lean more towards Captain Harvey's. Merritt has always been a solid second choice. I should have noticed something was up when all the older gentlemen customers leaving with their orders in hand were carrying pizza boxes and nothing else. I should have taken my gut instinct seriously when Jeremy put our order in the passenger seat and it didn't smell right. It didn't make me salivate. It made me wonder why I couldn't smell the onions or anything else that would have made my stomach start instantly growling. But it's a cheesesteak, how could it possibly not satisfy? I got a cheesesteak, American cheese, grilled onions and mayo. It took me at least 20 minutes of fixing up my sandwich, reheating it, etc before I got it to taste like anything. My first issue is that the roll is too soft. By the time we got our meal home, which is like 7 minutes away, the bottom of the roll was a soggy mess. Yet somehow, the mayo didn't help the moisture or the flavor of the meat. Do they not season the meat? They clearly do not season the onions, which are all smashed to one side of the sandwich, instead of being mixed in with the meat. This gives the meat additional sweetness and a juicier texture. I couldn't even tell that there was cheese on it. I added more mayo, sandwich hots, mixed the meat with the onions and then microwaved it to harden the bread (and warm the meat). Then, for the first time, I understood why some of my friends get ketchup on their cheesesteaks. I have always thought that was so gauche, so juvenile. But it was necessary in this case. And if people grow up their entire life eating sandwiches like these, that don't have any flavor unless you add something aggressive like ketchup, then how do they know properly made cheesesteaks (sandwiches that shops are proud of) don't need it? Jeremy struggled to eat his and he's the biggest carnivore I have ever met. However, the chicken wings were fried to perfection and delicious without any sauce, which was great because Merritt Sub didn't provide any sauce (even though we ordered buffalo wings), left the wings naked, and didn't even give a bleu cheese or ranch packet. I also got an order of fried mushrooms that were neither here nor there, but the reason I had ketchup (and horseradish sauce, both from my own fridge) nearby to adjust my sandwich. Thing is, I'm sad. I love cheesesteaks. I don't want to have to travel several hours to get one that satisfies. I don't want to give up on my local shops. But I just can't afford to spend $50 on a meal that takes that much effort on my part to make enjoyable. Please, Merritt, step up your game. Toast the rolls. Mix the onions in with the meat. Maybe consider the Whiz. I'll love you until the end of time. But until then: cannot recommend

I went here last weekend around 4:30 on a Saturday. for starters, the location is clean as it should be but especially because it is new. However, the lack of organization and more importantly the lack of respect/communication between employees is sad! The server that took our order seemed to be an outcast as no one responded nor interreacted with her the way they did with other employees. Granted, no one there was friendly by any means and everyone looked like they wanted to close and go home. Chipotle was running a new chicken al pastor which was not ready when we ordered. We were initially told 5-10 minutes, sure that's fine. But, then we kept asking and the staff working the line continued to ask but no clear response from the cook. Partly my fault for even waiting as long as I did but after about 30 minutes and continuously asking when it was going to be ready, I was fed up and ready to just get my food and go. The girl manding the cook station was awful and straight up rude when she was asked. Then the girl in front of us who was an employee was having issues with what I suppose her work discount added an extra 10 minutes of waiting. Maybe because this is a new location, they need some time to get everything organized so maybe in a few months, I would be willing to revisit but for now, I recommend going to a different location.

A total WIN!! I placed my order for an arrival time of 1130 today ( 9/24/25), to my shocker they delivered the food 15 minutes earlier. Something I'm definitely not mad at. The delivery was helpful and very punctual. Another Win!! The lunch boxes were in a brown box (nothing special). On the inside they had the sandwich/wrap, a bag of kettle chips, and a little serving of coleslaw, with Mike's mustard and mayonnaise packets. The sandwich was HEFTY (in a good way) I ordered a roast beef and another coworker ordered a tuna wrap, which was also HEFTY. They were so hefty I couldn't finish it, I wrapped the remaining up for later. The roast beef was well done (I prefer medium), but I understand why it was well done, but it was still good. My coworker said her tuna was delicious and sweet. She said it tasted like they put sweet onions in the wrap and dill in the tuna salad. The kettle chips were good as always and cole slaw was okay not bland, but not sweet either. Again another win! Final verdict, I'll be ordering from them again!!

I don't usually mess with Popeyes. They're expensive and they never have all the sides I want. You can get a chicken sandwich anywhere these days. I do like that they have a ton of sauces, though. I'm a huge lover of spicy foods so I was intrigued by the Hot Ones chicken sandwich. They, of course, did not have the cole slaw side that I wanted. It would have been so great with that spicy sandwich. All the up and coming chicken sandwich places have slaw on their sandwiches, but not Popeyes. What a bummer. There are two different spice levels available. Both were fine, but I wouldn't actually recommend them. Hangry Joe's does it better... Dave's Hot Chicken is better. Heck, the ghost pepper sandwich at Wendy's was better but they supposedly don't carry that anymore. At this point, I wouldn't be devastated if all Popeyes fell off the face of the earth, and with this economy, maybe they will. People aren't going to be able to afford a $25 box of chicken tenders if no one has a job... but I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.
