My latest experience with Roto Rooter includes them doing work that wasn't needed / not fixing the plumbing issue, and hiking up the price. 3x they visited the property and didn't fix the actual cause. I had to hire another company that fixed it immediately. When asking about the work done and if some of it was actually needed, their office secretary Jon turned very argumentative. Bad look. But it seems that's his usual encounter with his customers based on his responses to reviews online. Be very careful when choosing to work with them. I wish I could take away stars…read more Hire this plumber at your own peril. _________ I hired this plumber to convert a three-handle shower valve to a single-handle Moen valve under a verbal agreement. During installation, he cut the opening in the shower wall too large, damaging the surrounding material. The oversized hole would not allow a standard Moen remodel plate to cover it properly, leaving the job incomplete. When I brought this to his attention, he did not return my calls. After repeated unanswered attempts to resolve it directly, I contacted the Contractor's State License Board (CSLB). He later acknowledged in writing that the hole had been cut larger than the cover plate. Instead of repairing the wall so a standard plate could be installed, he proposed using an oversized back plate that was completely out of proportion to the shower wall, and not what we discussed. During mediation, CSLB indicated his proposal would meet minimum legal standards -- but CSLB evaluates code compliance, not appearance or whether the result matches what was agreed upon. Overall, this involved wall damage, no returned calls, and significant time spent trying to resolve an avoidable issue.
