1000+ red wiggler worms bagged in moist paper shreds

I've bought 1000 red wiggler worms on two separate occasions from Stan. I've utilized them in a 3-bin vermicomposting system with success. I called Stan ahead of time and arranged to pick up the worms, and upon pick-up the worms were bagged in moist paper shreds and ready to go! Stan asked me on both occasions what I was planning to do with the worms to ensure that he could answer questions I may have had to ensure as much success as possible. I trust that there were more than the 1000 worms in the bag each time because I could believe it just eye-balling the large clumps of worms. Plus the worms pretty rapidly reproduce and had yielded many baby worms in my 3-bin system. A better value than Uncle Jim's worms for sure!

2000 worms added to my new worm bin. They're bagged in newspaper shreddings so no shock when first put in the bin. Now how to name them all?

Thank you Stan - I picked up 2000 worms from you yesterday and put them in my new Hungry Bin worm bin last night. I was worried at first, many started to gather at the top of the bin. But looking now, only 6 that are still up out of the bedding on the side walls. So they must have gone down under and happy with what's there. I gave them some carrot/apple/celery/bell pepper pulp to start on. And how that they've gone down under, I spread it across the top more, and put on some wet cardboard on top of that. Wish I had xray worm vision to see what they're doing in there :-)

When planting into the ground, to our dismay, there was rubbish all throughout the pot... so we had to wash off all the contaminated soil and plant it bareroot. Absolutely disgusting they grow their plants with toxic plastic mixed in! They probably get free compost from the city dumps or God knows. The soil was also full of artificial fertilizer pellets which likely contain plastic polymers. I contacted them and they offered a replacement - but, whats the point of that if their other plants are grown the same way. It was too much for me to drive back and deal with that, and I'd set a time to get this job done. Was a little in touch by text with them, they didn't offer any form of refund or discount for the crappy soil condition they sold it in or the trouble to remove it, just the message: "Good luck with the bare root." Also, the tree's root system was actually quite small, a 3-5 gallon pot would have been more than adequate vs a half-filled 15 gallon pot. All in all, way overpriced for this poor quality and hassle. 2 stars instead of 1 simply because it's difficult to find some of these tropical fruit trees and the Vietnamese ladies here were friendly in person. ‍ Hopefully the tree survives the transplant shock, if it doesn't, we will fight for a full refund.

I also come here occasionally for Vietnamese vegetable plants like squash, bitter melon, and other garden varieties. The prices for the regular vegetable plants seem pretty reasonable to me. For some of the specialty fruit trees such as sugar apple , pomelo and other fruit varieties, I feel the prices are a little higher compared to some other nurseries I've visited. As for the service, it has always felt pretty neutral. Nobody has been rude, but I wouldn't describe the staff as particularly friendly or welcoming either. Most of the time I come in, buy what I need, and leave. If I have questions about a plant, I usually have to look around for someone to ask, and the answers are often pretty brief.

I had been looking for a yuzu tree, and this was the only place that had one and it was already 4 feet tall and only $60! Citrus trees are hard to find in Orange County due to quarantine restrictions, and some cities are even banned from purchasing them. I was surprised to discover that Mimosa Nursery not only carries citrus trees but also yuzu specifically. Beyond citrus, they have an impressive selection of other fruit trees as well. I also picked up a 7-gallon Violette de Bordeaux fig tree for $65. While you might find some of these plants cheaper elsewhere, many of the fruit trees here are already fruiting or have been pruned to the size and shape of a tree, which means they are more developed than the typical seedlings sold at lower prices. Service is very straightforward - you're not going to spend half a day chatting it up with them here. I highly recommend checking out Mimosa Nursery if you're on the hunt for a specific fruit tree. Not long after planting, the tree didn't seem to be developing properly, so I stopped by looking for advice. The experience was disappointing. The employee helping me appeared visibly intoxicated in the middle of the day (someone I believe is connected to ownership, as I had met him during the purchase). He was unhelpful and dismissive, so I left without any real guidance. I continued trying to care for the tree, but within two months it died. When I returned to ask whether there was any warranty, replacement option, or even assistance toward purchasing a new tree, I was met by a rude employee who immediately became defensive, repeatedly emphasizing that they are a "family-owned business" while offering zero accountability or solutions. Instead, I was blamed for the tree dying, despite the fact that I had already come in previously asking for help. For a business that sells and installs expensive trees, I expected at least some level of customer service, support, or professionalism. Instead, I got poor advice, no accountability, and an overall hostile experience. I'll be taking my business elsewhere and would recommend others do the same. Update: After digging up the dead tree, it was obvious why it failed. The root ball was extremely tight and root-bound, likely from sitting too long in the nursery box. It only had two mature roots supporting it, and both had been cut during removal and installation. They also didn't use fresh soil when planting it, which gave it little chance to establish. I went to another family-owned nursery afterward, and the difference was clear--they stood behind their product and offered a one-year warranty.

Inventory appears healthy, though as other reviews mentioned, prices are slightly higher than similar plant stores and nurseries. When I came on a Sunday afternoon, there was a workshop happening (the other two-thirds of the space), so classes are probably where the Green Place focuses most of their efforts I would guess. The associate up front wasn't friendly or unfriendly, but I also didn't feel compelled to leave with a new houseplant. The plants I got were some Pothos, Dracaena, and Monstera. I loved that they explained to me how to take care of the plants. The team there also helped me select the plants that would be best for the amount of light that comes into my place. The average cost for the plants I bought were around $12-15 and I'd say they're about small-medium sized plants. As a bonus, they also partnered with another small business that offers pottery painting towards the back of the store. You could probably purchase a plant and then paint something to put the plant in. How cool!
