Whether she was technically the owner "on paper" or not does not change the fact that this was my family's beloved dog and that I was present for what happened. Those details should not be used to minimize my experience. Second, we were not done saying goodbye. My dog's body had not even been removed from the room when construction workers began barging in and looking into the room. Regardless of who left the door open, we were still actively grieving and had not finished saying goodbye. That is what happened, and I stand by what I wrote. As for the financial situation, your response leaves out an important part of what happened. We (my wife and I ) were upset at the front desk because we were hearing that "protocol" had not been followed and that payment was required, despite the fact that the care team had already proceeded with the euthanasia after the initial payment did not go through. If payment had to be completed before treatment according to your protocol, then that should have been addressed before proceeding not talked about within earshot of a grieving family afterward. You are entitled to give your version of events, but that does not make my experience inaccurate. I was there. I know what I witnessed, what was said to us, and how we were treated. We will not be returning to your clinic. At this point, my only hope is that we receive the ashes of our beloved dog, which have already been paid for, without any further issues. ------------------ Now that I've had time to process exactly what happened yesterday.... If you are looking for a veterinary clinic where you and your family will be treated with compassion and dignity during one of the hardest moments imaginable, unfortunately, I would not recommend New Skypark Vet Clinic in Target shopping center Scotts Valley Ca. We brought our 17-year-old dog in yesterday because my mom was hoping we were dealing with something treatable, like a UTI. Unfortunately, we quickly learned that her blood sugar was dropping dramatically and that she was crashing. After 17 long, happy, and incredibly loved years with her, we ultimately had to make the heartbreaking decision to let her go. We loved her dearly, and we are grateful for every single year we had with her. What made an already devastating experience even worse was the way we were treated during and immediately after her passing. While we were in the room saying goodbye to our dog, construction workers who are still working on the building repeatedly barged in and peered into the room. They were clearly waiting for us to leave so they could continue working on the room. Having people looking in on us and making us feel rushed while our entire family was crying over the loss of our dog was incredibly upsetting and, frankly, unacceptable. We were also made to feel as though we were somehow at fault because the payment had not gone through before the euthanasia medication was administered. Apparently, their protocol is to have payment processed beforehand. If that is the clinic's policy, then it is the clinic's responsibility to make sure that process is completed before proceeding not something that should be placed on a grieving family after the fact. The entire experience felt rushed, transactional, and extremely lacking in compassion. When someone brings in a 17-year-old member of their family and has to make the decision to say goodbye, the absolute bare minimum should be patience, privacy, and empathy. Our dog deserved better, and so did our family. I sincerely hope other families consider this experience before choosing this clinic, because I would not want anyone else to feel the way we did during such an incredibly painful moment. Last night he also shook for the first time (like he is cold) after tilting his head, and it made me so worried. These past 2 years, I had been visiting 3 different VET offices near San Jose/Santa Clara, plus 1 failed attempt at Petco (please read my previous review on Yelp about this Petco), and all of them were disappointing, from unfriendly service, dirty facility, clumsy with prescriptions, uncaring staff with a 1-inch long nail, and trying to squeeze as much money as possible to the combination of all the above. I almost thought that this was just the norm. I even worry that if someday I went to a fourth vet clinic, and they saw my dog's health record showed that I had been going to 3 different vets in just 2 years period, they might suspect that I am one of that crazy customers. You know, the customer who is never happy no matter what. Since I happened to have some business in the Santa Cruz area today, I decided to try to find a vet in the Santa Cruz area and contacted Coast Veterinary Services this morning. They don't have an appointment before 3 pm. However, they recommend contacting their sister clinic Mt. Hermon Veterinary Clinic, which has an appointment at 2 pm. I called, and Karen from Mt. Hermon picked up the phone. She was super friendly and took all my information, and set up my appointment. My wife and my Labrador arrived at 2 pm, and in just 10 minutes, we were already inside the checkup room with the nurse collecting all the data. We use a dog muzzle because we worry our dog is not friendly to other people since he grew up during COVID, so we were unable to socialize him properly. A few minutes later, Dr. Cheryl Dembner came into the room, and she just understood how to deal with a dog like ours. My dog never even growls at Dr. Cheryl, not because my dog changed, but simply because Dr. Cheryl is the CARING EXPERT. Dr. Cheryl also explained to me the periods between vaccination for several vaccines, and unlike the other 3 previous vets, Dr. Cheryl actually goes into detail about the legal implication of the rabies vaccine and the other non-legally mandatory vaccine. We then realized the previous clinic was robbing us by giving us a second rabies vaccine and then put in writing that I needed to do another rabies vaccine in just 1 year's time. It's clear that Dr. Cheryl is NOT trying to milk us out of every penny and cares about the well-being of our dog. Dr. Cheryl then proceeded to check my dog's ear and other tests needed to make sure my dog was ok. Then, she took my dog to the back to clean the ear, administered the ear medicine, did heartworm testing, and also vaccinated my dog (the only vaccine that was due). Oh, actually, Dr. Cheryl, call my previous vet to ask them to correct the wrong record that the rabies vaccine is due in just 1 year, so we don't have to pay for another rabies vaccine due to legal reasons, but of course, the previous vet refused... This just shows Dr. Cheryl goes above and beyond to help us. Later, when Dr.Cheryl takes our dog back to us, my dog is happy, and he even kisses Dr. Cheryl's leg. This is amazing because my dog always growls and don't like stranger !!! Which can only mean that, even though we did not see what the team at the clinic did to my dog when he was at the back of the clinic, they clearly treated my dog well. Before I forget, the clinic facility is SUPER CLEAN, all the staff SUPER FRIENDLY (no stress staff here), and all staff looks Professional and Well-groomed. Just like in a proper medical facility. The way it should be. Not to mention, the price is also very reasonable. Although this clinic is almost 1-hour drive from my home, I don't mind driving and visiting this clinic again next year for our dog's yearly checkup. I finally found a veterinary clinic that my dog and I love to visit, and I want to say Thank You again to Dr. Cheryl and the staff at Mr. Hermon Veterinary Clinic.

This was the most horrible veterinary experience I have ever had. I have a 10-year-old indoor cat…read morewho had never really been sick before. After switching his food, he developed what appeared to be a food allergy and became very sick. Before bringing him to Aptos-Capitola Veterinary Clinic, I specifically called and told them he did NOT have a rabies vaccine and asked, "Can you still see him?" They said YES, no problem. We went in, they treated him, recommended different food, and we left happy. Fast-forward about three months. My cat was still having problems and had been vomiting for months. I had recently spent approximately $5,000 at an emergency veterinary hospital in Monterey trying to figure out what was wrong, and we still didn't have the answers we needed. I brought him back to Aptos-Capitola hoping for help. The veterinarian who met with me was extremely cold from the start. I reminded him that my cat had been through a lot and explained the months of vomiting and emergency visits. He didn't seem to care about my story. He began palpating my cat's abdomen with what seemed to me like an excessive amount of pressure, and my cat began VIOLENTLY SHAKING. I was shocked. My cat had been examined multiple times at the emergency hospital and had NEVER reacted like this during an examination. Throughout the exam, the veterinarian repeatedly brought up that my cat wasn't vaccinated for rabies. I explained that he is an indoor cat and that I was refusing the rabies vaccine. Instead of focusing on why my cat was sick, the conversation became increasingly aggressive. In my experience, his tone was rough, he raised his voice, and he continued insisting on the rabies vaccination before thoroughly examining my cat. Meanwhile, my cat continued shaking. I finally said, "I am refusing the rabies vaccine. I am here because my cat is SICK. I have been here before without this being a problem. Why is this suddenly a problem today?" The situation became so upsetting that I left the clinic CRYING with my sick, shaking cat. I actually wasn't planning to write a negative review. Then recently, I received an extremely long letter from the clinic informing me that my family and I were no longer welcome because of this situation. I found the letter threatening and upsetting. Even more concerning, the letter referenced California law regarding rabies vaccination. That is what prompted me to contact my attorney and research the law. What I learned raised serious questions about what I had been told. California does not have a statewide law requiring cats to be vaccinated against rabies. Local jurisdictions can have their own requirements, but I have been unable to identify a California law that simply prohibits a veterinarian from examining an indoor cat because it isn't vaccinated. If this clinic has its own vaccination policy, SAY THAT. A clinic policy and California law are NOT the same thing. If you tell a client something is required "by California law," you should be able to identify the law. I have had animals for decades. Years ago, when I had a working farm, I worked with the veterinary program at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, where veterinary students worked with and studied my animals. I have also spent many years researching vaccines before making my own decisions. People are entitled to disagree with those decisions. What I will NOT accept is being pressured and spoken to aggressively while my sick animal is visibly shaking, especially after this same clinic previously agreed to treat him knowing his vaccination status. My cat needed help. Instead, I left crying with a sick, shaking animal and later received a letter telling my entire family we were no longer welcome. I will NEVER forget this experience, and I absolutely cannot recommend this clinic.

His entire staff is efficient, kind and caring, just like he is. He doesn't upsell his services but neither does he scrimp on his care.
