I recently moved to Scott's Valley. I was meaning to take my cat in to establish with coast Veterinary but kept putting it off. I treated my cat for fleas who had a bad reaction, when calling for an appt, they were able to fit him in SAME DAY! He usually hates everyone, my partner was shocked at how at ease he was with the staff, and how sweet everyone was. They gave him a bath (which I'm sure was NOT EASY) and my kitty came back feeling so much happier and better. I felt at ease as well. Mid week they called to check in on him. WILL ABSOLUTELY COME BACK !!

The most trustworthy vet within hours of driving. I drive two hours to get to this vet, It's absolutely worth it and I've been going here for years even before the new vet took over. We have had two dogs pass in the last two years and we have a mini Aussie and just took on my fiancé's dogs mom as well, this vet is a fair priced and they're honest and I will continue to drive to this vet for as long as I have animals. I currently live in the Walnut Creek Pleasanton area and all of the vets out here are extremely overpriced and are not honest and rough my dogs around. I took my dog here recently because his ear was bothering him and I thought that something might be inside of it. Where I live the vet had told me that he would have to go under anesthesia so they could check and I had a gut feeling that they weren't being honest and to put my best friend under Without being sure didn't sit right with me so I called Mount Herman and they got me in within the week and and told me that there was nothing in his ears and that he just had some allergies and gave me some drops for it. He was better within a couple days and I didn't have to put him under anesthesia, for a vet to say that he needed to go under when he didn't is terrifying to me and shows me that it's not about the pets it's about the money. Mount Herman is not that way they are just genuine people who care about the livelihoods of your pets, this is not a cash grab that you see nowadays with other veterinary clinics. Going to the vet is going to be pricey regardless of where you go but these guys really aren't in it for the money and when you do go you will see that. I am very lucky to have found these guys. The doctor and the technicians are absolutely fantastic and very sweet and treat your pet like it was their own. My fiancé's moms dog is currently sick and we had to take her to the vet down here and they want $900 just to see her it's insane. It made me think of this place and wishing that I was able to take her to see these people instead. These people do amazing work and they're honest and they really want the best for your pets. This will be the only vet that I trust from here on out and I will forever be coming here for as long as I live in the Bay Area. Thank you so much for your service to our animals!

Walking through the door of Dr Imboden and Dr Levy's clinic always fills me with a sense of calm. The front desk staff knows the name of each of my six animals when we go for our visits. Recently, we had to put our dear pet rabbit of 7 years down. She had been through many illnesses for the past 3 years which Dr Imboden was BRILLIANTLY able to diagnose but she finally succumbed. NEVER have I had a more emotionally sensitive experience and peaceful letting go of a beloved pet than with Dr Levy by my side. These vets certainly treat pets as a member of your family, have ALWAYS been gracious about reasonable fees, and have always been patient with my ongoing questions regarding treatment options for my brood. THANK YOU for being in our local community for as long as you have--

We chose this vet for our dog & two cats after buying a home in the mountains & they have been amazing. We have had a quite a few visits in the last year between all 3 fur kids & they have always helped instantly. We are so grateful especially for the team we had last week for our sweet boy who unfortunately and unexpectedly passed the next day. Dr. Mac was so compassionate & urgent with accessing our pup, we instantly liked her as you can clearly tell she really cares. Sarah, who has always been so kind & positive, helped us before & this time. As well as Dr. Dembner, who helped us at the hospital & made sure Hudson wasn't alone & comfortable/happy which brought us so much relief as that day was very heavy. If they didn't catch what was wrong with him so fast, we wouldn't have known the extent of his cancer. We were able to send him over the rainbow before his pain was too bad. We couldn't have asked for a better team to help with him. Thank you so much to all who helped us

How have I not updated this review?!? We've been going back for our pups for years. We have developed a great relationship with the doctors and the entire crew. I love them all. They bend over backward to help us and provide reliable quality medical services. From shots to stitches to eye problems to infections. I appreciate their open minded advice and willingness to discuss treatment options. There is no other office that I would ever go to.

This is what a $300 pedicure looks like! His nails still click on floor.

I'm glad Exotic Pet Clinic of Santa Cruz has the expertise and resources to help them. The fact that they don't even treat cats and dogs is reassuring, knowing that my rabbit is being cared for by professionals who are dedicated to and have valuable experience with small animals and other less common pets. In fact, I was referred here by a different veterinary hospital closer to home who knew my bunny would be in better hands at the Exotic Pet Clinic of Santa Cruz. As it turned out, they were attentive to my bunny's needs from the moment I stepped inside the exam room, and showed understanding toward my situation and how overwhelming having a sick pet can be. I appreciated that they were honest and detailed when providing answers to my questions and options for treatments to address my bunny's condition, and clear and upfront about potential outcomes. They even explained the itemized billing in a way that was easy to comprehend. It's a bit of a drive out for me from San Jose (and the twists and turns on highway 17 are definitely not my fave), but it was worth it to get my bunny the help he needed. I'm grateful to all of the staff on site. And having a place like this around is something I don't take for granted.

THIS PLACE KILLED MY RABBIT AND IS CONTINUING TO DISPENSE…read morePOISONED MEDICATION DESPITE BEING MADE AWARE OF THE CONTAMINATION Please don't bring your animals here. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. I brought my dear beautiful bunny, who I adored, to this clinic for a simple checkup. She was very healthy but I was slightly worried about some crust on her eye. They told me that her eye was OK and that she was healthy. But they were handling her very roughly and she was really nervous so she was given .45 ml of gabapentin to relax. Gabapentin takes several hours to kick in so I have no idea why they would wait until the end of the session to give it to her but just wait, the story gets MUCH worse than this... Later that night, after we got home, I was horrified to find her sitting in a puddle of her own pee, shivering. I had to stay up the entire night with her to make sure she would survive. The next morning I was able to hand feed her a bit of food so I felt hopeful, but then that night she got much worse and that night she suddenly collapsed, disoriented, and died in my arms. Additionally, I was HORRIFIED at Dr. Catherine Deng's behavior. She rushed through the appointment in about five minutes and at the end began plucking my bunny's fur out with her hands!!! I said "Stop! What are you doing? You are hurting her." And her response was something along the lines of "haha sorry I couldn't help it". This was a rabbit so timid and afraid that she barely allows people to pet her. And this "vet" was plucking her hair out just for fun because it looked uneven!? I am so horrified and so devastated. My dear bunny had been perfectly fine and was dead the next night. Over a simple checkup. I don't understand how this clinic could allow that to happen. They could've at least started out with a smaller dose of gabapentin. Many rabbits have bad reactions to gabapentin. It doesn't even kick in until hours later so I don't know why they would give it to her at the VERY END of the appointment. Everyone knows to avoid non-exotic specializing vets for their rabbits because rabbits require special delicate care but you will not be getting that from this place. They handled her, a healthy bunny, so roughly and irresponsibly that she literally died. When I later told Dr. Stern, "your clinic killed my rabbit", her only response was something along the lines of " Wow I'm really sorry to hear that, she was very pretty.". I am so heartbroken and disgusted. They showed zero concern and took zero accountability. She did not even text me back afterwards. BUT JUST WAIT. THE STORY GETS MUCH WORSE. Because the speed and severity of her decline did not make sense, I sought independent analysis of the medication by an independent laboratory specializing in quantitative Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR). NMR is considered a gold-standard analytical technique for identifying and quantifying organic compounds in pharmaceutical formulations because it directly measures molecular structure and provides absolute quantification without requiring reference standards for each analyte. NMR detects and identifies every NMR-active species present in the sample, which makes it particularly well-suited to characterizing unknown adulterants in a finished drug product. I have received a full and comprehensive report on all chemicals in the bottle that killed her (can send to anyone upon request). That analysis confirmed the formulation contained: approximately 5% gabapentin (consistent with the label) approximately 4% isopropyl alcohol (IPA) additional unidentified compounds, likely flavoring or additives This raises SERIOUS and unresolved questions. It is not a trace-level or borderline finding. It shows an adulterant at roughly 800% the standard 0.5% limit established under USP General Chapter 467 for Class 3 residual solvents in finished pharmaceutical preparations. Furthermore, IPA is not a standard solvent vehicle for oral gabapentin formulations in the first place. The most horrific part is after Dr. Stern confirmed she is continuing to use the same bottle, when I told them about the findings, she ignored my email! That means she is KNOWINGLY continuing to give medicine from that poisoned bottle!!! This bunny meant everything to me. I miss her with all my heart and would do anything in the world to bring her back. Her death was so random, sudden, and shocking that it absolutely kills me inside knowing how unnecessary and preventable it was. Hopefully by sharing this story, I can prevent other rabbits from experiencing the same fate. Rest in peace my dear angel. I'm so sorry. I love you to the moon and back.

They are utter professionals, a very highly regarded facility and quite frankly all you people that are sending in one star reviews don't deserve their service or care. I am a seasoned dog owner who has spent many hours and has had many visits to the ER over the years. However this last visit was brutal. We arrived at 830 am and didn't get fully seen and discharged for 12 hours ! 12 hours is insane to make someone with a sick animal wait. At least be up front on check in and say. You are likely looking at 5-6 hour wait. At least that way you can make a call and decide to not put your already sick animal through more stress. I get how triage works. Most pressing cases are seen first. But to have us come back into the exam room several times just to sit and wait for at least an hour or more each time is wild. The tech calls me and ask me if I've left and I say no I'm right outside and by the time I've come in they have forgotten about us and stick us in an exam room only to sit and wait another chunk of time. The vet was lovely and she helped diagnose my dog and set up a treatment plan. That was the only plus.

This review has been a long time coming…read more Years ago, I brought my 12-year-old cat to Capitola Veterinary Hospital to see Dr. May after he developed severe neuropathy and could barely walk. We were good, loyal clients of this clinic and spent thousands of dollars over time on visits, diagnostics, and care. After reviewing his bloodwork, I was told it might be time to consider putting him down. I chose not to accept that. I took him to UC Davis and Pacific and Santa Cruz Veterinary Specialists, where he was correctly diagnosed by both places with diabetes--a basic and treatable condition that had been missed. With proper treatment, I managed his condition successfully for four more years. He lived until 17 and passed from oral cancer--not the condition I was told was essentially the end. Those were four incredibly meaningful years with a cherished family member that I almost lost prematurely based on that initial recommendation. Fast forward to recently--I brought my new kitten in for vaccinations, not realizing this was the same clinic (now Aptos-Capitola Veterinary Hospital) I had previously decided to avoid. Unfortunately, the experience reinforced my decision. I requested that vaccines be administered in the tail, which is supported by the 2020 AAHA/AAFP Feline Vaccination Guidelines to reduce risk and improve outcomes in the rare case of injection-site sarcoma. Initially, there was no objection, and the veterinarian was able to administer the first vaccines calmly and without stress. However, when the technical staff struggled to administer subsequent vaccines, the tone shifted completely. Instead of handling the situation professionally, they blamed me for making an "unusual" request and suggested I was causing unnecessary difficulty. What was most unacceptable was how I was treated personally. The staff spoke to me in a condescending and dismissive way, at one point implying I didn't understand English. I have lived in the United States for 25 years and have worked in professional roles in the tech industry. That comment was both inappropriate and offensive. Between a past failure to catch a basic diagnosis--despite extensive testing--and a recent experience marked by poor communication, lack of professionalism, and disrespect, I cannot recommend this clinic. I strongly encourage others to seek second opinions and advocate for their pets.
