He sent me home with some printed exercises to do at home, and made the comment that I "might" have a labral tear, a very serious injury. The at-home exercises made my injury and pain worse, and when I reached back out to the PA to get some help and ask about the labral tear, it was a black hole. No one responded, not even after I placed half a dozen phone calls asking for some response. I even typed up and faxed a letter to the PA, but he never responded. Finally drove the 45 minutes to the office to request a copy of my PT referral in person, and found myself another PT (NOT at Northwestern). Thank god. I am getting some relief after 3 months of pain and nonsense at Northwestern. AVOID NORTHWESTERN GLEN ELLYN. Avoid their PTs and avoid their PAs. They don't care. They don't answer the phone. They do not care. They don't deserve your time.

I have been billed for a physical when it is supposed to be no cost to me under my insurance. I was told that I was charged separately because the doctor asked me about chronic conditions that I did not bring up. He is not even the doctor overseeing many these conditions! I was told the fee would be waved, but of course it's not. My wife ran into a similar issue last year. She had only been disputing the erroneous charges for two weeks and a collection agency began harassing her! We have no problems paying our bills, but we will not pay when wrongfully charged. It is nearly impossible to get these erroneous charges waived. Northwestern just wants your money. They do not care about you or your health. Do yourself a favor, save the stress and go to a legitimate medical practice. My next step is to report this practice to the Illinois Attorney General and the Illinois State Medical Board.

Finally, I especially recommend her for women who may have had problems with gynecological exams or young women/girls who are ready for their first exams. I had a bad experience once and Dr. Ellens really helped me through what used to be a very emotional and even frightening part of my annual physical. My daughter and husband also see him as their GP. While all the doctors here are great, I found that it's the little things with Dr. Lee. His appointments are usually prompt, with little-to-no waiting to be called in. Sometimes the other doctors can run pretty far behind, but not Dr. Lee. He takes his time with you, asks a lot of questions to get to the root of the problem, and explains things in terms us simple folk can understand. He also seems to genuinely care about your health too; whether it's losing weight, managing diabetes, or quitting smoking, he doesn't lecture or look down his nose at you, he sincerely wants to help.

Dr…read more Kenneth Lee came HIGHLY recommended, and it's obvious why: he's personable, responsive, takes parental choice into account, and cares about helping his patients. He and his staff have been accommodating to us since we transferred care this past summer. They worked with me to ensure both kids got in for their Well Visits, which meant I didn't have to bide my time with the former practice. He has helped address and problem solve a few ongoing medical concerns I've had with my oldest child. I'm finally being heard and we are finally seeing some results! He has also helped us with multiple referrals for services, which is also helping my eldest get the supports he needs. Because he's a family doc, Dr. Lee has seen the kids AND me, which is very convenient. The doc I had seen retired in early 2016 AND the practice is about 45 minutes away, so I went without for a while. Now we all just go to the same place. I do have to say that we have been a giant train wreck on several occasions, and Dr. Lee has been kind and humorous, never batting an eye. Like the time my toddler knocked 20 ounces of coffee in an exam room ("It smells like a coffee shop in here! It's refreshing!"), or had an epic tantrum in the waiting room. Like, I seriously think he's dreading appointments with us (I would!), and could be upping his screening process, but he's been soooo nice. I would've been fine with waiting a little longer to see the doctor because I was at fault for our tardiness, but no, me and my child were basically booted from the office with a weak offer to reschedule. No thank you! And I offer no gratitude for your COMPLETE lack of understanding. I arrived 20 minutes before 8am, when doctors start seeing people. The woman at the check in desk (Debra) was very kind and helpful. She took care of everything, told me I was second & directed me where to go. No one was called in until 8:10am. The woman they called in first came after me and the other woman. Then, 3 more people went in (1 being the woman ahead of me & 2 individuals that arrived afterwards). I checked in with the front desk to see why I hadn't been called. Debra inquired. They called me next. The male nurse took my vitals and was friendly. After he left though, I wanted in the room to see a doctor for another 15 minutes. Checked with the desk; they said someone would be in soon and that there was someone with an emergency they had to attend to first. Doctor saw me for 5 maybe 10 mins max. She was nice. I just really hate how long the entire process took and was charge $50 for all that waiting and such short time seeing the provider. Considering I arrived early and was the second in line, this shouldn't taken as long as it did. I get that medical offices are understaffed; however, the fact that people were called in before me who arrived afterwards, that's unfair. Walk ins should be seen according to the order in which they arrived. I'd give this a one star review if it wasn't for the friendliness of the staff.

So I called for an appointment and was told she could see me on August 18 (today is July 2). I have prescriptions that have to be monitored and maintained, and I also have a very painful issues with my arm. I don't think either can wait for August 18. They are two separate appointments and they won't combine them: one is "to establish care" and the other is an illness visit. Once I see her as a "wellness visit" on August 18, I would be able to "get in quicker" to see her in the future. For now, if I'd like to be seen and monitored by "someone else" who has more availability in their schedule I could do that. Well, I've had a terrible experience with a doctor in Chicago that left me with ongoing medical issues that could have been prevented. So I did my research and selected someone I felt I could trust. I was so very lucky to have that in New Orleans (from where I just moved) and I just wanted that again. I don't really want to see "someone else" that I don't know anything about and waiting 6+ weeks to see a doctor I researched heavily. So while I can't really rate Dr. Boyd herself, this is a warning to those who are looking for a doctor: even though her site says she is accepting new patients, I don't think she really has time for them. Be sure you can wait six weeks before seeing her if you choose her. I get why she's busy -- she's good. But why advertise that you're accepting new patients when you really don't have time for someone who needs you?

My experience getting my Annual Exam was abysmal. First, the office staff was gossiping in earshot of Pt's in the waiting room; I was also able to hear an insurance of another Pt review occurring (gives me privacy concerns). I could have overlooked these things as they are fairly minor IMO and happen everywhere. However, when I was called back, the nurse did introduce herself (standard/best practice in healthcare is to introduce yourself and your role), and did not smile the whole time I tried to talk to her. Yes, no one owes me emotional labor, however a small social smile welcoming a new Pt would have been nicer and helped put me at ease (and lets be honest, most people going to the GYN are at least a little anxious...PAPs are no fun). She was frustrated I did not want to be weighed (please note: it is valid to refuse any medical test, including weight) and was unsure of my exact weight in that very moment (she signed, rolled her eyes, and spoke in clipped speech). She was also visibly upset that I had not had a period in 10yrs due to having an IUD and therefore could not give her a "last period date." I tried explaining I had an IUD and couldn't remember the last time, but she continued to sigh heavily. It was at this point I decided to leave my appointment. I have worked in healthcare (hospital and private practice settings) for 15yrs and I understand frustration with Pt's who don't know answers or who don't go with the flow (ex refusing to be weighed), but to treat someone with increasing hostility because they don't know answers is not good practice. I become so upset I began to have a panic attack and shake and was on the verge of tears and I am not typically that kind of person. It takes A LOT for me to feel so uncomfortable I have to leave a place. Gynecology is a sensitive speciality dealing with extremely sensitive and personal matters, to have staff who treat Pts as adversaries is not acceptable. Further more when I left no one expressed concern over why a Pt would be so upset they would have to leave an important medical exam. The doctor was standing right there looking at me and said nothing. This is not a practice interested in doing better, this is NOT a practice for you if you have any level of anxiety or need any warmth or compassion from your providers. It's also not the practice for you in you care about your HIPAA rights (ex. having insurance calls with doors open where Pt's can hear in the waiting room).
