At seventeen, I…read moreneeded a root canal and the dentist and endodontist that I saw, did not know that my upper jaw does not stay numb and even with fourteen shots of novacaine, they proceeded with doing a root canal on one of my upper molars. I felt everything. I was traumatised. It took another seventeen years for me to step foot back in a dentists office, and that was to have yet another root canal done. The dentist had to give me IV sedation to do the procedure. The oral surgeon had to do the same to remove my wisdom teeth. Every visit was traumatic. I went only when I was forced to and I paid dearly for it, not only mentally but also physically and financially. (I wont even get into the trauma that my son faced from an early age as well.) Fast forward ten years and I decided it was time to leave Addison Dental because they were ripping me off financially. I began a search for someone new. I asked people for referrals. I talked to my family, I searched online... No one really had great things to say like they do with their doctors. I never felt comfortable with the answers I was receiving. And then there was the dreaded insurance issue..... the worst chokehold on any dental decision we ever need to make. I did a local google search and found Dr Sullivan. I skimmed thru his website and moved on. He looked good but websites can be deceiving in my experience. I looked at a number of other locals and then at a new "chain" type practice that opened near my chiropractor. I decided nothing looked any better, but something specific kept drawing me back to Dr Sullivan. He had a section on his website about what he does on his Fridays, how he helps people in need by offering them free dentistry, giving back to his community. He didn't put the information in a prominent spot so that everyone would notice it first thing when his site was visited, but it was there and it stayed with me. I made the appointment. Again, it had become an emergency. He took me in immediately and literally coddled me as if I was one of his own children. He listened to my worries, soothed my fears and made sure that he did everything he could possibly do to help me, to fix me without undue stress. And then he began to assess the damage that all the rest of the dentists had caused over the years and slowly, we have built a trust bond and he has been restoring my faith in him as a dentist and restoring my healthy smile. I have entrusted him with my family and referred my sister to him who needed an emergency root canal done (yep, it's a family affliction lol). I will continue to refer anyone and everyone that I know because not only does Dr Sullivan do damned good work, he has heart and he makes you feel like you are a big part of his family. More than that, his has worked hard to make sure that his staff has the same work ethic and will treat you the same way that he does. I don't give reviews easily, but this one was most deserved. The dentist that saw me didn't give enough time for the novocain to start to work before she started working on me. When I flinched, she reprimanded me for moving. No bedside manner, no friendliness and no patience. Adding procedures that I never needed before with prices that weren't discussed before starting. Quite shocking prices and I would call that price grubbing. After seeing 3 of the most wonderful dentists, this is a huge disappointment. Now I'm sadly looking for a new office.

The new owners and dentists immediately required all new X-rays and drastic dental procedures versus providing treatment options. New dentists and team are very cold and I no longer feel comfortable in their practice. From what I hear they are losing previous long term patients. I would not recommend them going forward.

My husband needed quite a bit of dental work and so did our child. The office equipment is very current and is state of the art. (They have updated equipment & techniques beyond what our prior dentists had.) The office is clean, homey and comfortable. Every single person on Dr. Dewitt's staff and the Dr. himself had very professional and supportive interactions with us. Our special needs child requires additional consideration due to having challenging and unique dental conditions and circumstances, and Dewitt Dentistry has exceeded our hopes and expectations. Excellent sub-specialist referrals and collaboration with other dental professionals was terrific also. Time is taken to explain concerns and problem areas, and options were provided. We feel fortunate to be in the competent care of Dr. Dewitt. We highly recommend Dewitt Dentistry! (BTW, there are a couple sour grapes reviews on google that smack of bitter retaliation. Oh please, Dewitt is no more expensive than the next practitioner and not a rude bone in these people's bodies....warm, caring, and kind is the vibe in this office. I know, I know, I sound…read moreobsessed like Steve Martin in Little Shop of Horrors, but it's a great feeling actually having a dentist that makes you feel as comfortable as possible. The family friendly and welcoming environment that the ladies at Dr. Nikki's have developed is top notch. From the updated magazines in the kid friendly waiting area, to the cutting edge technology they use to keep track of patient records and X-rays, it's about as pleasant of an experience as you could ever hope for at the dentist. I spent 30 years of my life neglecting my dental health due to nightmares stemming back from my youth, but since I've started going here, those nightmares are a thing of the past, and I look forward to that 6 month post card showing up in my mailbox. If you haven't been to the dentist in awhile out of fear, or just looking for a better experience then your current DDS, I highly recommend giving Dr. Nikki a try. You'll be glad you did!

I am in need of a new dentist now because our old dentist in Bensenville sadly passed away. Maryann Michael is probably the worst dentist I have ever gone to in my life. I went to her several years ago when I had severe pain from a tooth that went bad, It had to be removed. She removed it, but I noticed even at this first visit ever with her, she was impatient about how long it took for the anesthetic to start working. But a short while after the tooth was removed my pain was gone, even later that evening. So a few months later I had a different problem with a tooth, so I went to her again. Big mistake on my part! She had to pull another tooth, and she was having extreme difficulty pulling. When she finally removed the tooth, and the anesthesia hadn't worn off yet, I was still bleeding a lot. When I went to check out and I told her I was still bleeding and in pain. She said (very snarky) "Oh you'll be alright". That was my last visit to her office.

I have not slept ever since I was seen by her! I am leaving her and will never comeback! I had the worst experience in my life.. I feel like I'm going to have PTSD over this! I came to her as a second chance because of her good reviews online. I showed up for an appointment yesterday not knowing what she is going to do with me. I arrived and the staff told me we are only doing the fillings- so okay..nervous because the last time she cleaned my teeth she hurt me. As we were talking about the fillings she asked how my bad root canal tooth was doing. I said that it did still bother me. Then she insisted we are pulling it out today instead! I was so shocked, i said NO! i wasnt ready for that. But she kept manipulating me, I feel harassed and cornered. I didnt want her to pull my tooth out but she said its for my health so I hesitatedly agreed because she is the doctor. I trusted her though I was hesitant and told her NO. Soon as the anesthesia was done she was going to pull it right away. I was shocked again because normally anesthesia takes 10 minutes or so to get working. And when she started, I felt pain! i told her and she kept telling me "it was just pressure". But in reality, it hurt like the bothering pain i would feel. After she was "done" she left a little sharp tooth hanging in my mouth!!! I noticed afterwards with all the gauze in my mouth! I cried!!!!! I dont ever want to go back to her, even if she fixes this for free! Now I can't sleep because i think about my experience!!!! My cheek felt the sharp little tooth hanging! I hate myself for coming to her. I cannot believe this is happening to me. My previous dentists never forced me to do anything that made me uncomfortable. I had to raise my hand multiple times to Maryan Michael because of how uncomfortable it was.. I've never closed my eyes and squeezed so hard during a dental visit. That was my 4th tooth being pulled out in my life and the worst ever. I literally cannot sleep and thats all that was running in my head while trying to sleep. This office is in a hospital and only ONE staff member looked put together. Maryan Michael's assistant was dressed unprofessional (wore a hoodie). Also, Maryan Michael's uniform was a mess. It had a rip on the side, as if it got snagged or someone grabbed onto it & it ripped. The light that is above you during procedure was taped up. Everyone did not look clean, groomed or professional but ONE person behind the desk in her scrubs. I would not recommend this office to anyone! I would steer clear!!!!"
