They charge a 3% surcharge if you pay by credit card. It's not noted anywhere with signage. It's not on the menu in fine print. It shows up on your bill. I've heard people say that "if you can't afford to tip, don't eat out. Well if you have to charge people a surcharge to pay by credit card, then don't open a restaurant. If you are going to do that, then post it on the menu and at the front counter so people know.

Most of the rest are chains, with the few others being worn out looking. The prices are pretty okay, so it's good enough to come back to some time. Basic looking for a neighborhood bar. It's one of a few that are downtown. This is actually right next to another one. Maybe drinking is the only thing to do around here. One can do that here and eat too. It's about $4 for a basic cocktail. There's a decent amount of liquors including a few whiskeys. It's about $4 for an appetizer. Tater tots are a good choice for any occasion. There's of course the Guinness on tap. Can't go wrong with it. Saturdays it's $6 a pint. As for the food, it's basic. It's $7 to get a few of the Pretzel Sticks. Could be the healthiest food here. These are topped with garlic butter and salt, and served with bistro sauce and nacho cheese, but I got mine without the butter and had mustard. Have to say it's a lot better than expected. It's got lots of specials that help save money for more to get drunk on. The food is okay while being pretty meaty, with bangers and mash types of things, but they also have pretzels.

The food wasn't what I expected in a farm to table restaurant. I ordered a burger (no bun), rare. I emphasized rare. After laughing about it, I saw the waitress circle rare on her ticket. The burger arrived well done and dry. The fries tasted like they were cooked in old oil. The waitress never came back to find out how things were or to refill our glasses. Thinking it was just the day, we came back for lunch again. I order the pork special without mashed potatoes. The waitress didn't ask if I wanted to add something, which I would have gladly paid extra for. The pork came a little rarer than I'm comfortable eating. Again the waitress never came back except to deliver our bill.

I've personally been here probably over 50 times (no joke) since I've moved to Plainfield 2 yrs ago. I was skeptical at first because, I mean this isn't a traditional Mexican restaurant but I thought.....why not.....everything else has always been super good. A lot of places use Goya Adobo but thats pure salt with no taste. Criolla Adobo is good on all meats & gives it a great taste. If you're gonna grill it.....season with Adobo & put in a zip lock bag over night with vinegar.....& oh emm geee.....the most tender, flavorful skirt steak!!! I've even left 'em seasoning for 3 days...& thats even better & more tender.

Our server was helpful, nice, promp, courteous, her name is Aylene. Opened the menu and pleasantly surprised by the pricing and selection. I ordered a Denver omelet, hash browns and raisin toast. Which was delicious-their butter is SOOO good. My husband got a hot tea, biscuits and gravy, bacon, eggs and hash brown. He spent some time in the South and said this is the best biscuits and gravy he's had in a restaraunt. Do I recommend it? ABSOLUTELY! Will be back for sure! I've already told other peeps about it. The bacon and sausages are also great. Can't speak to the hash browns since I always substitute for fruit. Their Sour-dough toast and English muffins are also very good. Most importantly, the food is served with everything hot, which is not the case at many breakfast places. I bring cash to avoid the credit card fee, which is posted at the entrance. Many places now charge this but aren't as good at letting you know. Service is always terrific. Great place!
