I gave on star because I had to but this should get ZERO. I hired Matt of MBC construction November 2016 to start a job in January 2017. I gave him 1/3 of what I was quoted for the job. I had a quote from another contractor and he looked at it stating he could do the same for the same price. January came and left and I was told that he was backed up due to the snow storms we had been having and had some emergency roof repairs and was also shoveling roofs as well. I understood. Then the snow melted and the next excuse was the rain was causing him to be delayed because the job he was doing was outside. Fine. I understood. Then came April. My neighbor was here and he came by to get a key and said we are ready to start... I am all yours. Well that was not the case. He only spent a couple hours here and there with the work he needed to do before getting his sub contractors involved. What should have taken a week at the most to demo the wall from the kitchen to the livingroom and the wall to the porch to make it a 4 season extension off the kitchen took 3 weeks to a month. We have a cat and a dog during this and he would work with the doors opened knowing there was a possibility they could get out so I had to crate my dog when I was not home and put the cat in our office with the door shut (the cat meowed so loud the people that lived 2 streets over could hear him). He would smoke outside and throw his cigarette buts on our front lawn, stairs and in the back yard. I would leave for work at 8:45am and he was no where to be seen and would show up between 11am and 2pm and only stay for a couple hours. He told us if he had to he would work weekends and there was a Sunday (June 11th- it was my birthday) where he said he would be at our house in the morning and never showed. My husband texted him and an hour or 2 later he called back and made it feel like we were inconviencing him when he told us he would be at our home to work on our job and never even gave us the courtesy to let us know he wasn't coming at all. When it was time for the sub contractors to come in they were spaced out far apart. They subcontractors that did our floors were amazing but Matt told us we could have access to the upstairs (we live in a raised ranch). That was false, so we had to find someone to take our cat for a couple days, have our daughter sleep over our neighbors and my husband and I had to sleep in the basement on a 3 cushion sectional/lounger (mind you he is 6'2"). There were parts missing when the kitchen cabinets were installed, but rather than working on other aspects of the job (like the siding to the porch) he insisted (almost demanded ) we give him part of the last installment to finish the job. When we refused, he didn't come around because he said he needed to make money and started other jobs. Now mind you , I paid for all the materials, (granite, cabinets, flooring, etc) and gave him the first 2 of 3 installments plus an additional 5,000 for the porch renovation (which i feel we were ripped off). Even after the kitchen cabinets were done we had to pull teeth just to get him to come to finish the siding which he hired subcontractors for. All the subcontractors were great. What I should have done in retrospec, is pay the contractors directly and whatever was left over for the quote of the job should have been given to Matt. I will NOT recommend him or refer him to anyone. If it wasn't for the subcontractors the renovations would still not be done. Unfortuneatly he has given me a bad taste in hiring a a small business in the future and that sucks for those small business owners that have their shit together. read more

DO NOT HIRE. I had a contract to replace doors on my house which was agreed up in Aug 20, 2017 with $715 payment cashed in Sept 6, 2017. Despite several email exchanges with no specific date to do the work (delays, excuses, lies) as of Dec 27, 2017, I cancelled the work and requested reimbursement of $715.00 he had for months by Jan 15, 2018, There was no response or payment made. I am taking him to small claims court. All he says is lies and never returned to my home once to do any work after he cashed my check. read more

My husband and I needed a deck built. I had a vision of what I wanted because it needed to be built on a hill and to make an above ground pool less ordinary. I would give 0 stars but it would not allow me. I hired Matt @ MCB construction when I bought my first home in July 2015. In order to get the loan approved from the bank i had to hire someone to level the house & pour a concrete fountain for a full basement. I found Matt, who actually lives in the same town aa me which I felt comfortable with. He assured me it would be a simple job with money left over for additional small fixes such as new stairs leading to the basement. He also let me know he'd tell me when portions were done so I could reach out to the bank for the checks, which I did. In the end he was paid in full & I was left with a very unlevel house on a block fountain which was not properly sealed so the water pours in whenever it rains. The items I had put down in my "new basement" were immediately damaged by water & mold. The first time it happened I called him & was taken a back by his response that he knows the job wasn't done correctly. He took no accountability & made no attempt at rectifying the issue, instead continued to place blame on the subcontractor. Nearly 2.5 years later i am still trying to get resolution. I just want my basement sealed & house leveled so I can finally work on the inside. In all I had an absolutely awful experience with Matt Wironen/MCB construction & would never recommend him to anyone. Had he rectified this issue, I'm sure I'd feel differently. read more

MCB Constructiin was the BEST Contractor I have ever worked with. Discussing my vision & listened & supplied a much better product than I could have ever pictured!!! Pricining was very fair from 3 quotes. Did the New Techno Footers & it made the job & structure so much better! Matt updated me when the permits were sent, that they were received & when Construction could start. During demo he kept everything clean everyday! After the deck was done Matt problem solved with how an old piece from the old deck was not working & built a bar! Then Matt built my vision of a cat condo under my deck! Matt is now a pro at Cat Condo's!!' I will use Matt for every project on my house! Highly Recommend him! read more

i would give a minus 0 if possible ...do not hire this guy, horrible, horrible work. no finish skills at all. he does not do very much of the work himself but using a 26 year old kid. walked off the job this morning when i questioned him as to why the flooring was sagging and buckling. shows up very late in the morning and never even works an 8 hour day...never got any permits. we got screwed! read more
