Do not order chili online!! Old, dark and a little burnt. They are not cooking it fresh, you're getting left overs and thise kids, don't care! Order what they have to make fresh and can't mess up. Ordered online for pickup in store. Was supposed to be ready by 7:30. Had to make a few other stops so got there around 7:40. Food was not ready when I walked in. I had other stuff to pickup so when it was ready I foolishly did not check to make sure my order was correct. After picking up food for the rest of my family at a different establishment, we get home only to discover that I paid for something I didn't receive. I'm Not from here, staying at a hotel, after a long day I cut my loses and don't go back. Make sure you check your order if you choose this place. Likely they will not put your entire order in the bag. The food is great, consistent across all the locations I've been to. I wasnt particularly impressed with the french dip, and ordered an entirely new sandwich. The French dip is completely void of any flavor whatsoever. the dipping sauce taste of boiled water, and the meat unfortunately flavorless.i may have been better off chewing on a wet tee shirt. Hands down the most incompetent McAlester's Deli employees .....ever. They do not fill orders completely and when I went back to get the rest of true missing items it took them 20 minutes to get to me. None of which required cooking. A Brookie, pickle spear, kids veggies and French dipping sauce. Not like any of that requires a lot of time. Update: they filled the order and still screwed it up. Never did get the kids veggies or the pickle and put in an extra order of what I did already receive, sandwich and a pizza. I didn't want extra other stuff, just what I ordered. I love McAlisters but recently it hasn't been doing me good. Their sweet tea has not been sweet at all for the past month. It tastes like unsweet and taste old. This place has poor customer service and did not receive all the items I ordered along with other healthcare workers in the ER that were hungry for lunch. When called they would not deliver the items and would not issue a refund. Our entire group will never return to this place again or eat from here and everyone will know about the poor service from here. They are lousy and steal your money. I always get a chicken Caesar salad, potato salad, broccoli and cheddar soup, and the pink lemonade. My two complaints are that 1) their chicken doesn't taste the best and seems a bit dry, but it's really a minor complaint as I still get the salad quite often. 2) It was only a bit past 8 p.m., and they were out of pink lemonade and refused to make more even though they didn't close until 9 p.m. I don't understand why they couldn't make it and refrigerate the rest for the next day. We stopped in for lunch today, and asked if we could bring our puppers onto the patio (it's his second birthday today). The manager lit up and told me that the patio is absolutely dog friendly. I was ecstatic. We seated ourselves outside and then my bf went inside to order for us. The manager came out to see if we'd like a bowl of water and was asking if we needed anything. Not a big fan of this place. I only came here today because of s gift card. Yes, food is hot. Portions for what I eat (French Dip) leave much to be desired for a $7 sandwich; I expect more. The tea the everyone raves about leaves a taste in my mouth that has convinced me not to order tea here anymore if I am at a "get together" and they have McAlister's Tea I avoid it. I opted for chips with my French Dip, bad choice. A pile of small broken plain chips looks disappointing. I would score lower, but since lunch was free from a gift card I decided not to. I will be back to spend rest of gift card, but will not return after it's gone. read more

This place (Port Arthur location) has really went down over the past one to two years. I will NEVER eat here again, the potato soup is disgusting. It tasted like the potatoes were rancid, and the lettuce in my sandwich had what seemed like sand on it(?) i did not finish it. The management is a joke, i did not feel right about sending my order back for correction. Because the asst manager (Shayla) was whispering to a heavyset man (another manager?) and looking at our table strangely, after i sent the order back. This is the worse McAlisters I have eaten at. I ordered the BLT-A meaning bacon lettuce tomato and avocado sandwich with Broccoli and cheese soup. The sandwich was not good. The bacon was over cooked actually burned to a crisp, after eating it half way through I saw that the avocado was old and brown. Made me sick to my stomach. The soup had a hair in it right at the bottom of the bowl that just added to my getting sick. The crackers were stale. Nothing about this meal was good. I will never come here again. I have eaten at the ones in Houston, TX and Webster TX and they are top notch. I will never come to this location again. If your in the Port Arthur area stay away from this one. You will thank me for it. There are other places around here that really care about what they serve and how they serve it. I can't believe that they would serve me old avocado in my sandwich and have the nerve to serve me bacon that was burned.
