    Veggie Spud
    Christopher C.

When we walked up, there was a sign taped to the door. It said something to the effect of, "We have just had a mass hiring event. Please bear with us as we train our new staff members." Pretty much sums up the experience we had. Some good things, some odd things, nothing truly grievous but far from 5 star. Good things first. The food was hot and fresh, and came out quickly after we ordered. My spud was a little hard but was otherwise tasty. The restaurant and the bathrooms were clean. The staff were friendly and were obviously trying to do well. That said, the cashier taking our order was unfamiliar with the menu and had to get help to answer questions about the food. We had a free cookie from the McAlister's app and nobody knew how to apply it to our order. They finally found somebody who knew how to ring it up properly so that ended well. The standout oddball thing was the iced tea. I have seen this mentioned in other reviews so evidently a staffing change has not fixed it. The sweet tea was NOT sweet. I ordered a 1/2 and 1/2. My daughter ordered sweet, and neither of us could tell the difference between the two. The tea was fresh (still warm) but somebody forgot the sugar when they brewed it. So overall I was a little disappointed but I understand what they were dealing with. Nothing happened to drive me away. I would definitely go back and give them another try just to see if they have straightened things out.

    King Club!

The food was very good and the portions were huge, I did get the king Club. They were very short staffed, they even had to sign up letting you know that when you came through the front door. Took about 25 minutes to get our order. They were very crowded. It was very nice in there, a little loud, but with that many people is to be expected. The staff was very friendly and nice. They were just overworked. One of the girls was running the second register and clearing tables and delivering food.

Uptown sandwich and salad eatery. It is very clean inside, robust menu with plenty of health options. Their tea is very good, especially mixed with their lemonade. I had the club sandwich, and it was pretty simple. Not much meat, not much bacon, and it was pretty dry. I had to ask for extra mustard. There wasn't much mayo as well. Too plain and dry for my liking. We also tried the French Dip, which was very good to include their au jus drip juice. I would return because of one dish and would not recommend the club as it was just too generic. Good bang for the buck on their tea. It's just over $3 for a large drink.

I've been trying to get here to try their offerings for a while. Last week I did attempt to go and they were closed due to an electrical issue - but I can't hold that against them. So today, success, I did indeed have a lunch experience. Waited in line for almost 10 minutes before ordering, although there were four employees in the area. Only on young lady was taking orders. So my impression of customer service from the get go is not impressive. I ordered a CHOOSE 2 items for $8.99 = a cup of tortilla soup, and a beef cheddar sandwich with horseradish. It came with a cup of tortilla chips, saltines, and a pickle. I asked for a water to drink and the server poured me a plastic cup with at least 32 oz of water. Impressions: The soup, while tasty was not authentic tortilla soup and it was thickened with something like potato starch (?). The sandwich came of soft warmed bread, horseradish spread, a few sliced red onions and a couple of very thin slices of roast beef. The presentation was nice - a very pretty plate. Waste factor: I never eat pickles - way not ask if the customer wants one? I never eat saltines - same comment. These just go into the trash and it's a waste. Green factor: Nice that they provide actual silverware and plates. I appreciate that less goes into a landfill. But why 32 oz of water? A 16 oz cup would do and would mean less waste, cost, and landfill content. Bottom line: I would eat here again, but I might order and pick it up. The amount of food for the price is right on point and competitive with Panera - which is less than 5 minutes away - direct competition.

The last time I was here was precovid. I know a lot has changed over this past year, but of all the places I didn't think this one would. Change sometimes is good, but in this case I regret to inform you upfront this review is not a good one. I really hate to leave it but it needs to be addressed. First off I understand during peak hours especially on the weekend the service may experience delays. During my visit it was not very busy. The fact we waited 20 minutes for a couple sandwiches to find one of them incorrectly made was the ultimate slap across the face. This isn't an elegant classy five star joint with fancy top of the line meals. I've never had to come up to the counter to find out what's happening with my order in all the years I've been here. This has to be the worst experience I've had here. The staff was friendly but it wasn't enough to make up for the fact we weren't the only customers unsatisfied with the wait. It's such a shame to see this place fall to such shambles. After today I don't think I'll be returning for awhile.

Update: they didn't actually give me a refund as promised, so there's $16 down the drain. This place is a joke! :)

Nacho basket of mostly crushed chips. Disappointing.

Very disappointing. Used to be much better. First, they've joined the trend of asking for a tip up front, before any service has been received. Offensive. What service am I tipping for? I haven't gotten anything yet. The nacho basket looked like it consisted of chips from the bottom of a bag. There were maybe 5 chips big enough to dip. The horseradish roast beef and cheddar sandwich was very skimpy. One thin slice of cheese and the meat didn't even fill the bread. The service was quick and friendly, but the food was just not up to the standard it used to be. I used to like this place. Now I won't be back.

It's pretty good. Easy. Turkey sandwich is really good. Soups are hit or miss. I find most of them rather watery.

Crispy Brussels sprouts had great flavor but way too much cayenne pepper (which adds nothing but heat) my husband ate them but said he would prefer less heat. I had 2 bites and gave up. Baked brie was amazing I loved the granny Smith apples! My husband loved them too. We also got the hummus duo which has dates on it and I used a date in the brie that was fantastic! I'll ask for that next time! It was the bomb. Hummus duo was good the watermelon radish was beautiful on the plate but gave both hummus a bitter flavor. Shrimp and grits. We live in Alabama currently and this was our least favorite dish of the day. Shrimp were cooked well and so were the grits but there was just something else it needed. Parmesan cheese and some onions maybe. Greek salad delicious. The flash fried chick peas made it. We needed more dressing and the wait staff was prompt and sweet about it. Spicy Lime Ceasar was ok till he requested more dressing then it was amazing. I was afraid of ordering it but the dressing wasn't too spicy . White sangria I had was disappointing it was more of a 1995 wine spritzer than a wine infused with citrus which is the very essence of sangria. It was ok and had I ordered a wine spritzer I would say yummo but I ordered sangria. Pork Belly flat bread was the winner of the night the tomato jam made that dish. I would love more on it next time but we will definitely be ordering that dish again! Yes we had a lot of left over food! But I love sampling a menu and this menu has a lot to offer. We will be back to try 4 or five other things. I look forward to my return.

In a rare turn of events, both kids got the same thing, the Korean chicken bites with the sauce on the side, which was a great decision bc it did have a kick to it. The chicken itself was a bit dry. Both adults also got the pork belly flatbread. I found it a bit unbalanced with too much sauce and not enough other toppings, and the base wasn't as crispy as I prefer. Speaking of crispy, we opted for the appetizer brussel sprouts, and they were a bit chewy and on the not so super crispy side. Service was fine, and glad to have a little break from heavier New Mexican cuisine on this night. Lots of variety on the cocktail and adult beverage menu too.

It's got something like a dozen different food outlets to please everyone. There are a couple of bar setups, too, that looked like fun. We got tacos, and some Vietnamese dishes and enjoyed them a lot. The place has plenty of tables, an upstairs area, and a large screen tv to take in while you dine. ... we enjoyed the experience so much that we went back a second night, and got noodle dishes, poke bowls, and a salad bowl. (We took these to go and went up the sandia tram and ate at picnic tables overlooking the city) Everything we ate was really good, and reasonably priced. And there are very many vegetarian options, and at least a few vegan ones, too. People say parking can be a hassle, but we didn't experience that. But the lot is small for the space size, so I can see how it could be an issue.

Our party had frozen lemonade, a tuna poke bowl (a little light on tuna and heavy on seaweed), California roll, and creamy lemon chicken pasta. The pasta was flavorful and a hefty serving.
