A few dollars..pfft whatever, but this was far from a few dollars. -They only did half a cleaning...HALF, then told her she had to book another appointment for the other half?? "They didn't have time on her first booking"?? Get ready for ANOTHER payment. Neither I or my wife have EVER had to go for two sessions for a cleaning & x-rays. Nor have I ever heard of this.. -An email she received in response to a query about the price was a little patronizing and that was the final nail in the coffin for her.. The short story: She's a masters student & we are both covered by her plan. Even with the coverage Alma is still quite expensive, and the estimates are quite inaccurate as is the process once you get there. I will now pay 1/3 of what she might have paid for the EXACT same thing at Kingsgate Dental & the estimates are always within a few dollars as well. The waits are also 1/3 compared to Alma (they also open on the occasional Sunday). Alma should also get someone else to reply to customer service emails lol. The bright side..?? The bottom half of her mouth is pretty clean :)

They are under the UBC extended health plan here, so it is quite cheap to keep your smile looking like a million bucks if you are a student. I paid around $25 last visit. I gotta say that for the dreaded dentist visit, this place is nearly as good as it gets. Perhaps if they offered laughing gas in the waiting room I would give em 5 happy/dizzy stars.

I also had a cleaning today by Dental Hygienist Catherine, who is excellent at her job and also very personable, always checking to see if I'm OK. And even though I've been going to Kingsgate for years, she reiterated proper cleaning technique and gave me some advice on tooth brushes. I actually like going to the dentist at Kingsgate.

He identified issues that I had previous knowledge of from other dentists, but where he differed was he did not recommend any expensive procedures. It was refreshing sitting with a dentist and not feeling like I was getting sold something. Without mentioning the reception and hygienists by name all I will say is they were great. They were warm and welcoming. Going to the dentist is never at the top of my list of things to do, but my experience at Terra Nova Dental Centre is about as good as it gets. I would recommend them to anyone without hesitation.

He said we need to do a root canal now. So I made an appointment but I missed it due to a family emergency. So after taking the Antibiotic for a week, the pain came back after a month and I made an appointment to see him. I walked in the clinic, from his secretary to dental hygienist and the dentist himself were after me for missing the appointment and dr yu clearly said "I am not lecturing you but as business person I lost the sale and had to pay my staff. You should have given us 24 hr notice to cancel so I could have used that time and I lost so much money because of you guys....and you got the estimate for your daughters Invisalign and never got them done". We have been going to this dentist since 2002, we don't have any dental insurance and we have to pay each time from my pocket. For my daughter I paid whatever the consultation was but he quoted an amount that I couldn't afford at that moment so we never anything done from him or any others dentist. For my husband he said it will be cheaper if you just get filling done for now but you need a root canal as it would be cheaper to just have the filling done. He charged me 380 dollars and for root canal it would only be another 300. He didn't give me any price point if though I asked him twice. And now the pain I had gone through for about 2 weeks and now again I am in pain or a week. Who is accountable for the pain I am going through. He just cares for money that's it. He is just a business man not a dentist.

The dentist is friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, explains in detail the situation, scenario, available options and recommendations and always considers/suggests the least intrusive/most convenient procedure/process/option for patient to consider in detail making sure the patient is fully informed in order to make preferred choice of resolving any dental issue. i would give this office, its staff and dental assistants, hygienists and my dentist all a 10 out of 10 rating.

Haha! You'd think they're constantly booked up because they're right in the heart of downtown Vancouver. But they're really accommodating with scheduling in appointments. I like that their system can send me both email and text reminders. I always had really awful experiences with previous dentists growing up. It had been a while since I had my teeth cleaned and examined so I was really nervous but Dr. Chen, her assistants, and Priscilla the hygienist were really thorough in explaining to me what they were going to do via x-rays, taking photos of my teeth, and giving me advice on proper brushing. Once I was numbed, outfitted with a mouth dam and therefore unable to speak easily, Dr. Baird said cavities often come in pairs and asked to look at the tooth next to the cracked one. I agreed to a look. Without first confirming my consent to any work, he drilled into and filled that second tooth as well. He then found a chip on a third tooth and said he'd fix it "as charity," at no charge. Later in the appointment, after adjusting my bite, he asked if he could shave down part of an untouched, healthy top tooth so it wouldn't sit too high on the brand new filling. I said no, I'd prefer he didn't. He did it anyway. I left having had three teeth worked on instead of the one I came in for, my face covered in tooth dust that no one wiped down until I was handed a wet wipe afterward, and a healthy tooth altered without my consent after I explicitly declined. When I got the bill, the tooth I was told would be free showed a real charge. I'm still working with the office to sort that out, but the billing issue is secondary to the larger problem: a dentist who did not respect a direct "no" during treatment. Georgia Dental's own website quotes Dr. Baird saying "the best dentistry begins with listening." That is the exact opposite of my experience in the chair. Dr. Baird did not listen to me at all. I would not see Dr. Baird again and would think carefully before returning to this office.

Yes, I believe that if it is fillings on those molars and re cementation of that crown that came off, then it will likely be within that $1000 limit. If you do require a new crown by chance, however, that is not usually a covered service by the disability coverage. You tell me - looks like deception to me.
