We were welcomed in and she was so helpful and attentive. She had the patience of a saint, as my family waffled back and forth with what they wanted. Asking a million questions - she answered them all with a smile, while waiting for them to make decisions. She had more patience than I did. LOL To be fair there are a lot to choose from and it's hard to know what all of the ingredients are. Luckily for me, they had so much to look at - beautifully crafted chocolates and wonderfully decorated for the Christmas season. The space was warm and inviting. They have a wide variety of interesting gelato and sorbet flavors, most of which I can't speak for, but the raspberry sorbet, mango sorbet, rhubarb gelato, whiskey crème gelato, and chocolate gelato were excellent! We met the owner, who was justifiably proud of his homemade gelato. The texture of the sorbet is smooth, not icy, and the raspberry had actual raspberry pieces in it. Delicious! This little shop definitely stands apart from the usual tourist fare omnipresent in Old Quebec.

Canele are a custard/pastry concoction shaped like little jelly moulds/cups - sweet but not sickly. I'm not sure how else to describe it. I like them, and like most pastries they are best when fresh. That being said, you can buy them frozen here which means you can stock up and keep some for later. I'll be going to get some more next time I'm up that way, just because they're so different and you can't get them in many places (I haven't seen them anywhere else). The staff that were there only spoke French, but that's normal for Quebec City (and pretty much guaranteed outside of the old town area). It's really not a big deal, as it only takes a few words and gestures to get as many canele as you can carry.

Where I come from, you are lucky to find chocolate dip and maybe butterscotch or strawberry. 20 flavors is an insane amount!! In the course of my visit to Quebec, we collectively tried: salted caramel, peanut butter, coffee, sugar cream/fudge, hazelnut and dolce de leche. My favs were the coffee and salted caramel. In addition to the dipped cones, they offer hot chocolate, dipped ice cream sandwiches, gelato, etc. I would be happy coming in for an epic euro-style hot chocolate in the winter months too. The service is great. Prices are expected for the area, close to $4 CAD for a small dipped cone. I think the prices are quite reasonable for how good it is. If you haven't been here yet, go now!! They are open till 11 most nights!
