This was my first stop once I arrived in Quebec City from Montréal. I drove straight to Stoneham to get a box of pastries and a ham sandwich. It's near Jacques Cartier National Park so if you time your trip around fall foliage as I did, you can enjoy your pastries surrounded by the colors of the fall season. The pastries are everything I imagined -- super flakey and delicious. Located outside Quebec City, it was said to be the best pastry shop in the area. I don't think you can go wrong. You just point at whatever is calling you. There was line, but the line moves swift. Is it strange that I get happy and excited when I meet fellow Filipinos. I find comfort in meeting them and it always feels like meeting family away from home. There was a group of them working at this bakery in Stoneham. They were all smiles and very welcoming to me the English speaker in this French speaking province. If you're in the Quebec City and you have your own car, I recommend a visit to Pascal and working off your carb loading with a walk through Jacques Cartier National Park. read more

What a beautiful beautiful place! I got breakfast/brunch here with my mom on our way to Jacques-Cartier National Park. Beautiful settings, beautiful view, feast for the eye and the taste buds. We got some bread, a piece of cheese, some jam, an almond croissant and coffee and had the most enjoyable time. Now I have to confess I fell in love with french bakeries when, years ago in Paris, I came across chocolate pear tart in a small crowded boulangerie. It was, and still remains, the most satisfying, mouthwatering pastry I've had; chocolaty but perfectly balanced with pear and kinda light, with a perfectly rich crunchy crust... and I've been looking for this tart anywhere I go! no kidding! and, "Eureka! Wow, This place could be my all time French pastry shop. I stopped in here for a late lunch and was again blown away by the selection of amazing breads and French style pastries. I had selected for lunch a ham and Brie sandwich which they gladly put on the panini grill. With this a fizzy Badoit to wash it down( like a Perrier) and the apple pastry of the day. The sandwich was one of the best I've had in a long time. Home made French mayo? YES! Crispy exterior but Brie + ham goodness in the middle! Just perfect. What's even more humorous is there is a Subway next door that. I saw someone get Subway for takeout! I was floored! Who would in their right mind go to Subway when there is an amazing French pastry shop serving authentic fresh bread sandwiches?!?! Oh yes an my lunch with tax was a smidge over $10. When I was talking to a tourism information agent in Quebec City and told him we were spending the night in Stoneham, he immediately recommended that we check out Pascal Le Boulanger. We took him up on it and sooo glad we did! The pastries were probably among the best I've ever had - I was tempted to get a quiche for breakfast but opted for a chocolate-almond croissant, which blew me away. My son had a fantastic chocolatine (pain au chocolat or chocolate croissant) that was outstanding, but the other star was the orange pastry that my daughter chose - it was like an orange danish but many times better than any past danish I've had. AMAZING! We had some glorified cream puffs and some type of pastry with chocolate chips on it. They were all incredible and delicate. They have such a large selection that you're sure to find something sweet to take home. But don't mistake them for just a bakery! They have great sandwiches, quiche, and individual gourmet pizzas! We went before our kayaking trip and wish we could have made it back for dinner before they closed :( read more

What a great bakery filled with so many of yummy choices! We visited it yesterday after ski at Stoneham and came back today for breakfast. Yesterday we had raspberry and plain croissant, a macaroon, and an espresso. The espresso was brewed well balanced between bitterness and acidity, aromatics and smooth. The macaroons were perfectly round with a smooth crisp thin top shell decorated with a streak of powdered sugar. Sandwiched within the macaroon was piped buttercream icing paired with blackberries. Not only did it taste amazing it was also very visually pleasing, perfect for photos. I would say it is in pair with the one made from Laduree in Paris! We returned the next morning for almond croissants and a chocolatine. All the croissants and chocolatines were delicately made with a thin crispy shell and light fluffy layers underneath. The bakery had many different options available from sandwiches, cheeses, bread, and countless pastries. Each dessert was uniquely made and decorated. One notably aesthetic dessert was the Yule logs with an exterior piped wood texture, topped with presents, trees, and other miniature embellishments. They also hosted a variety of cakes, encircled with brushed chocolate panels, glazed, or torched piped meringue. read more
