If you take anything away from this review: hot and fresh chips with salsa and bean dip, great margaritas and get the Xango for dessert trust me! Our waitress was so friendly and helpful in explaining the menu and giving us time to decide what we wanted and also some great recommendations. Starting off with the free chips fresh out of the fryer and it was crispy and thick, perfect for dipping into the salad and bean dip it came with. Don't sleep on their margaritas (mango is the best flavor!) the picture is a SMALL, and the medium and large are humongous just be warned or if that's the vibe you're going for then you'll have plenty to drink! Space is no frills with booths and big tables, great for big groups and celebrations. I will say they use the biggest plate I've ever seen, and most of their entrées are a few bucks below and above $20. But plus side is there will be leftovers! I got the Carne Asada plate and it comes with your choice of flour or corn tortillas. The Chicken a la Crema was a favorite for my group and the garlic shrimp was nice and flavorful as well. But the star had to be this dessert we were curious about - the Xango. It is basically a fried cheesecake wrapped in tortilla, topped with cinnamon sugar, chocolate sauce, strawberry sauce, whipped cream and vanilla ice cream! Perfect for sharing with a group. Well, we tried it a few more times since the last review. Not a whole lot has changed, except even worse now. Sadly. Now the carne asada on the tostada is always cold where it was cooked fresh and was delicious before. Who likes to eat cold meat?? Even the happy hour prices are less than "happy". Still occasionally overcharged for something. We have to wait forever to get our drinks and chips while so many others are being tended to and even when not very busy? Trying to get a refill on soda or water is hard- I usually have to get up and track someone down. Really sad what has happened to our once yummy and friendly place. Last minute decision which turned out surprisingly well. We came on weekday around 11 so it was pretty empty. The staff were friendly and attentive regarding water, chips, and salsa. Portion sizes are expectedly large with decent portions of both rice and beans with each combo. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. House salsa reminded me of Pace. Teen's burrito was "okay" but missing all of its toppings which is why it was chosen in the first place. For $14.50 that was a very disappointing outcome. "Mom, I like my burrito from Mexicali Express better". ( and it is half the price) The anemic chimichanga arrived sitting on wet iceberg, so it had a soggy bottom, with not delicious bland mushy shredded chicken inside. Meh. Not the crispy fat flavorful golden brown Arizona chimichanga of my dreams. I remembered why I don't get them here ever. The rice and beans were fine. The guacamole in with the chimi was different (slimy) than the other guacamole. All in all not great. I am giving three stars because they were open for takeout, they were reportedly nice at pickup, they made decent guacamole (not great but ok). Took our children and grandchildren for lunch today. The food and service was great as usual. Such a great place for a family get together.

The employees are nice people. The food however came out warm cold, as if it was sitting there for a while. Another woman that ordered the exact same thing as I did, received sizzling hot food. The chorizo looked like it waa dry and old, and the carnitas had a weird grey color. Instead of apologizing for the food, the manager chose to try and defend himself making it seem like I was seeing things that weren't there. Ordered 8 dishes for take out. They screwed up by completely missing one order and giving us too many chicken tacos instead of more beef tacos. Their "beef" in the tacos were disgusting. I am not sure what happened to this restaurant they used to be really good. The service used to be really good. The last time I was in the restaurant a week ago, the service was so poor, no one checked to see how the food was and they forgot my request for a soda. Attitude was not super friendly. The beans and rice are fine, but I wasn't really a fan of any of the main items on my plate. The taco was impossible to eat because one half of the shell was soggy by the time I got my plate. The enchilada was okay. The tamale was just...bleh. I'm a white girl, but I know how to make tamales. The masa was all wrong. If you're going to order something, order seafood. Absolutely astonished at the poor customer service. Local family who has been attending for years. However we waited 1.5 hours and ultimately asked the food to be boxed up @1:20 hours but while I was in the bathrooms, the manager told my wife "The food is already on the plates " and had attitude with her about it but when I came back, he walked away. The waiter didn't know I speak Spanish and I overheard the waitress talking about how our food was forgotten and at the end of the night, when I asked that we be compensated for the long wait, they didn't try to do anything for us besides a $7 coupon deal they ripped out of the local paper. Payed $100 for beyond sub par meals, I ordered the fajitas trio and got 1 piece of steak and 2 shrimps. They clearly knew we weren't going to tip and were unwilling to make it right or even give us our proper food to go. Will Happily go to the local taco carts. Absolute unacceptable experience and food which is different than we have experienced in the past, but we were the only "lightly pigmented" folks in the place and we got pushed to the side with little remorse so what can you do.
