I'm always eager to see new businesses start up and thrive and this one is worth checking out. They have a simple 3 region blend at this point and I'd love to see some single origins weave their way in eventually but there's nothing to complain about. Teas, sodas, smoothies, chai, and a variety of special flavored espresso drinks. The space is small but peaceful for a quick stop or getting a little work done before the day really kicks off. The owner was really kind and answered all my questions as I got to know her and the shop. Highly recommend checking it out!

The space itself is very cute, a little on the small side, but they utilize every inch that they can for seating. Staff were very kind and we did not have to wait long for our drinks. I also got a berry loaf which was delicious! As for the coffee, I had one of their specialty/seasonal iced lattes. It was good, however a little too sweet for my liking. Upon review of the menu, it seems like each specialty drink has a minimum of 2-3 sweetened flavors added to them. This coffee shop is the place to go if you like your coffee sweet. Personally, I would not make the 15-20 minute drive for overly sweet coffee when I have another local coffee shop nearby. I will visit again if I find myself in the area, I would like to try their Matcha someday.

The other evening, as I dismounted the train, I came face to face with a bearded man in a blue shirt, overalls, suspenders and wide-brimmed hat that I assume was of the Mennonite faith. Before him on a table sat a bevy of baked beauties. Cookies, muffins, gobs...Shoofly pie. As I approached him, he asked "A workin' man, are ya?" "Yes sir. I just got done for the day." "Well, God Bless ya." "Thank you." "What can I do for ya?" "Well, I have 4 bucks cash on me." "Oh, we can work something out." And work something out we did, the gentleman offering me a 50 cent discount on a small Shoofly pie and a chocolate gob. Sweet Montgomery, was the pie treacly! Yet, I welcomed its wholesome, molasses-derived taste and texture that adhered to the insides of my mouth like glue. It was similiar to a pecan pie without pecans and possessed a flavor that approached chocolate or Nutella. Its crumbly crust has no preservatives and doesn't hold up well after a few days I was told, so eat it fast I did, half that evening and the other half the following afternoon with lunch. The gob was dense, moist, and contained a sugary white frosting between the bisected ball of cocoa. On the label it read "Hostetler's Bakery" in capital letters complete with a street address and telephone number. I must make the pilgrimage for olden wonder and rural warmth surely await me there.
