Maya is amazing and so talented! If you want to fix your brows or are worried about someone ruining them I highly recommend going to maya. I really love how she listened to my concerns and discussed my options with me. I came in with very thin, uneven brows and I told maya I wanted to be cleaned up and needed guidance with shaping and regrowth. This was my first time at this establishment to get my eyebrows done. I called the day before and spoke with Maya and made my appointment for the next day. I showed up to my appointment and waited a few minutes for the person before me to finish up. As soon as she was done another lady sat in the chair. Two other people whom I had checked in with told the women doing eyebrows that I was there for my appointment. The woman came to me and told me the women in her chair had an appointment as well and if I could wait. I said no thank and left. Needless to say, I will never return to this place. Rita is amazing! other people there are good too but she really really cleans them up and a different technique because others after the clean up I can still see little specks in my skin and I thought it was just my skin until I had Rita. I HIGHLY recommend this shop for anyone who hasn't had their eyebrows done in a while, can't handle the pain of threading, or just in the Bonita/Chula Vista area! This gem is located in the same plaza as many other restaurants such as TJ Oyster Bar, so I suggest coming early to snag some parking! Personally, I haven't had my brows done for a couple of years so they could regrow (my hairs r thin) and I came in with the intent of just cleaning up my brows and hopefully getting them shaped better. I've suffered multiple times going to other threading locations where I've had so much pain after a session due to my sensitive skin but this place is the real deal! Not only was the worker very welcoming and accommodating, but told me beforehand that my eyebrows have a completely different shape from each other so they won't turn out as similar as I wanted which is fine since eyebrows are supposed to be "cousins" not "sisters" Overall, I really appreciated what she told me and made sure I wasn't in any pain! She even double-checked with me if I liked the way my brows came out the first time before making them a little more thinner (my preference) so they would be perfect before I left! Maya is awesome! This was the first time I went to her shop. I've only seen it because it's in the same parking lot as my favorite coffee shop, Pavaraga. This is an awesome location because it's close to Rohr Park and there's a variety of shops close by. I've been looking for a threading place that was close to home and I saw that there were plenty in National City but I live closer to Bonita. I was super happy that I decided to give this place a try. The shop is super clean and really nice inside. Maya was really nice and educated me on eyebrows and how my skin is too sensitive for waxing. I was surprised that it didn't hurt as much as it usually does when you get threaded. She doesn't yank on your hairs and she takes her time. She was kind enough to put witch hazel on me before she did my upper lip because she knew that my skin was sensitive. She fixed my eyebrows and I'm so thankful because they were a hot mess. I asked her to clean it up and maybe shape them and that's what she did. She didn't make them thin either. I visited this place for the first time on Wednesday for lash extensions. My appointment was about 2 hours long and my lashes look amazing. I must say, I've been to other lash studios and for some reason I'd wake up with my eyes swollen,possibly a reaction to the glue? That didn't happen when I had them done at this place. They were very informative and friendly. I'm embarrassed to say, I had a sort of "panic attack" during my lash application and the lady was so kind. I have been going to Maya for my eyebrows for over a year now (since she was working at Superbrows in Eastlake!) and was sad when they told me she moved! Through Yelp, I was able to find her again at this new location. I rarely write Yelp reviews, but felt compelled to write one for her because I figured her other customers are probably looking for her too! Maya is extremely detail oriented and always makes sure that your eyebrows look perfect by the end of the appointment. I have been to other eyebrows threaders before and there would always be one or two brow hairs missed. This is never the case with Maya. I also love that I never need to tell her what to do because with her years of experience, she already knows what is best for each customer. Her service is prompt and you can tell by the effort she puts in how much she cares about each customer! Very disappointed with this Business. We got here 10 min before 5pm and they told us it was closed. They were supposed to be open till 5. They were so kind and accommodating but now that they have settled their business I could see a change in their business practice and treatment of their customers. I usually love this place but unfortunately the past two times I have gone, I've had a negative outcome. The new woman (dark long hair) who has begun working there does not do my eyebrows up to par to the owner and other woman who is usually there. I love how the other ladies do my eyebrows but now one of my eyebrows is significantly thinner than the other and much shorter. She did them about a month ago and was in training. My brows came out bad then but I hoped she had gotten better. Unfortunately, they still came out poorly. Because of the inconsistency of my brows I will sadly no longer be coming here. I am sorry to have to put a negative review for this place, but I had a pretty unpleasant experience. It looks like this place has some good reviews, and I just want to provide my true and honest personal experience. This was my 2nd time here. The first one which was about a month ago seemed to have generally gone well. I must say the lady working here (long hair lady with light hair- who i think is also the owner) did not seem to be very friendly (meaning not very warm, nor welcoming) but I was satisfied with the work she did, so I overlooked the lack of friendliness. Today, I returned, and barely got a greeting as the same lady who previously helped me before was consumed talking to a customer, who seemed to be here for the first-time. This was obvious as the girl had many questions and her father was also attending to her. They proceeded to do some work. I wrote my name down on the list and then sat down. Not once, the lady said I would be with you soon. Meanwhile, I would hear other people talking in the back room, I was not sure if they were workers or family or friends of the business owner. I was sitting for about 15mn, when suddenly an other lady (with dark short hair) came out from the back and looked at the girl who came after me, and invited her to come forward to the chair. In my mind, I am asking, why doesn't she call the client from the list? The other customer recognized that I came first, so she yielded to me. I was pretty hesitant to go with her, as I had a gut feeling I should wait for the other lady, who I knew did a good work on me, but then I said "why not? Let's give this other woman a chance". As I sat down, she gave the impression of not feeling motivated or enjoying what she does. I should have stopped right there, but still hoping that she will do a good work. the After it was done, my eyebrows were asymmetrical, and on one side she took more on the inner edge. When pointing these flaws, she seemed unhappy about my remarks, and said that I had a scar on my eyebrow, which is the cause of the bald spot. I don't know where she got it that I had a scar, but I know my face, and I don't have a scar on my eyebrow line. She created this bald spot by the amount hair taken out. I really didn't feel like pursuing my argument, and left it there. Anyway, she walked to the cashier/counter area, and I followed her. I was ready to pay, and she said "if you are not happy, you don't have to pay", the tone of her voice was short and not genuine nor apologetic. No accountability or genuine interest to acknowledge my remarks. Yes, I was unhappy, not only by her messing up my eyebrows, but by the disrespectful treatment I experienced, by the way she responded to my concerns, and by the way they barely acknowledge or appreciate their customers. This is very unusual, from a customer service perspective. I am not sure if they understand the depth of their behaviors or lukewarm attitudes. I really don't mind waiting, but when you are treated like a non-valuable customer, it makes you feel so disrespected. And two, when someone messes up, the least they can do is be genuinely sorry and not arrogant. After all, I have to be the one with the uneven eyebrows. This experience is very unfortunate, especially it is so close to where we live. I wish it was a different experience, but now, I am looking at this place in a different way, it left me with a bitter taste. NOT recommending it, nor to my friends, neighbors, or family. read more

However, the women working there instantly put me at ease. They were very warm and inviting. Yada was professional and meticulous. Before finishing, she had me look at my brows to make sure I was happy so far (I was). They sell brow powders and I asked which one would be best. She chose two different shades to try on each of my brows to compare. She asked both me and her coworker which was best, and we all picked the same one (which I never would have picked on my own, as I'm used to a much darker shade). I normally get my brows threaded at the Plaza Bonita Mall, but ever since the pandemic, they've been closed and I wasn't sure if they'd be open so I decided to look for a new place to get my brows done (also because I wanted a better place to go to). Maya's is hands down better than the Brow Spa at the mall! Right away, the atmosphere and the vibe was very chill and relaxing. The woman at the desk immediately greeted me and knew my name for my appointment, which was really cool. Sarah, who did my eyebrows was really nice too! She wasn't threading my eyebrows as aggressively as the workers from Brow Spa and it wasn't as painful either! Then she tried to argue with me saying my brows were like this when i came in (clearly not because my left one is just fine and i haven't been in for a while because of the pandemic) and then tell me there's nothing she can do about it.
