That might not be a problem to some couples, but it was to us. It actually took awhile for us to find a makeup artist in Toronto who a) didn't have certain demands regarding travel, packages, etc., b) didn't take 5 days to respond to us, c) actually showed genuine compassion and interest in their work and craft, and for their client. I met Daniela a few months before our wedding, and knew she was the one! Out of over 20 makeup artists in Toronto that I contacted, she was the only one who suggested an in-person meeting to talk about my wedding. Honestly, I can't even express how much I appreciated that. She came to our meeting prepared, actually took the time to take notes and understand what I'd be wearing, the look and style I was going for, etc. I knew from the very start that, with Daniela, I was in very good, talented, and responsible hands. And as a bride, trust in your vendor is so key - and I trusted Daniela fully! On our wedding day, Daniela came early and prepared, and was totally unfazed when my mom changed her mind about what she wanted. She is the epitome of creativity, talent, and professionalism. After some persuasion, I agreed to have a makeover done during one of the 'ladies' nights' that a friend of mine had organized. Rachel Renna was the makeup artist that they had hired for the evening. It didn't take long for me to figure out that Rachel is no ordinary makeup artist. She is the next big thing (mark my words). She is one of the most talented artists I have ever come across, and that's including all the encounters I've had with makeup artists throughout my TV career. The thing about Rachel is that she just 'gets' her clients' style. She had one look at me and knew exactly what I would love and what I would hate. I wanted a trial before doing it on my wedding day just to see how it would look. The result is amazing it really just looks like a real sub tan! I'm usually a pale skin that burns and doesn't tan much, so that option was great for me. Jen was also very professional which is very important since you are totally naked to get your spray tan... She also gave me good advice on how to keep my tan longer, what soap to not use etc. I will be returning a couple of days before my big day now that I'm satisfied with the result!

Hannah questioned us, wanted to see proof that this indeed was the time slot, implying we were lying somehow. My friend burst into tears when she was told the appointment was never confirmed. Whenever she can't make an appointment she has made it clear as crystal. On top of it, when my friend got upset, the other makeup/hair people who occupied the building looked at my friend like she was a freak, as if they have never seen someone cry before. They didn't really try to comfort her at all (offering her a bottle of water? How about a hug?) and then the woman on the first floor insisted we leave the building in order to call Jennifer.We were told maybe Hannah could squeeze my friend in but when pressed that was a no-go. They tried to call one place which of course was totally booked. Jennifer apologized and said it was her fault, not theirs, however, she never gave us follow up, made no attempts to make it right, and when I called her today she refused to take responsibility at all. My friend was humiliated, felt like she was treated less than human. Fortunately we found another place, at the very last minute, literally who took my friend in and treated her with respect, dignity and utmost professionalism. That is the bright spot to this sad story, which includes my friend missing her event's scheduled start time because of this fiasco. My friend's heart was broken-she came to love Jennifer as a friend....This is no way to treat a loyal customer...or friend.

She took me in even though it was her day off and she had just taken a long trip somewhere and was exhausted. I had been so upset how I was treated by this other artist, and Alisa calmed me down and had a terrific sense of humor. We laughed at how bad the job was. Here's the email from the head of the company Marko Pelicon sent to me Feb 8th: Hi Vanessa, Avalon Received a total of 82.56 for the trial and 182.56 for the deposit. Charisse may will be refunding 75.00 via cheque to you and Avalon will refund the remaining 192.68. If you do not receive this refund within2-3 weeks please let me know. Please reply to all in this email with your mailing address to send payment and product. -it it now Mar 22nd. I have no refund, and continue to be ignored trying to ask where my refund is! I just want my money back for the services I will no longer get! To note: the artist has refunded me the trial amount. It is AVALON screwing me over.

So in order for me to book a makeup appt I have to book a hair appt as well, even though... I don't require it. This is called a "CASH GRAB" and a way to extort more money from existing clients.
