The last two movies I watched here, the thermostat was set way too high. It must have been 80 degrees. I was really uncomfortable and sweaty. Im going to try a different theater next time. read more

I am all for supporting local businesses, so we chose Maya Cinemas in Salinas for a new movie and were disappointed from start to finish. First, the phone app disappeared. The kiosk to print online tickets was broken, which meant everyone had to wait in line at the concession stand just to get tickets. Then, since we had not visited in a while, we were not familiar with the layout anymore. Our movie was in Theater 1, but the numbering/signage was unclear. We saw Theater 2, but there was no visible number for Theater 1 nearby, leaving us second guessing whether we were in the right place. Once inside, the theater itself felt very worn down. The seats were so worn they looked dirty, and there were no food trays. I did like how far back the recliners went, but the farther you reclined, the more a barrier in front blocked the bottom portion of the screen. We also paid for the Dolby sound experience because my husband appreciates good audio quality, and he immediately noticed that not all of the surround speakers were being used, particularly the rear speakers. That noticeably took away from the movie experience. Overall, this theater feels neglected and run down. It is disappointing to see what was once a thriving theater decline so much. Unfortunately, we will not be back. read more

Nice theater downtown Salinas, parking was great on Sunday afternoon. The movie was good but they definitely had it WAY TOO LOUD. I'll give it another try & hopefully it's not too loud next time. read more

Great place! Lots of plush quity seating. Senior spacial on Wednesdays. Good movie varieties.

We had never been to this theater before. It is dated and could stand a deep cleaning. The location is great, the theater itself is big with motorized recliners! We both loved that. We didn't have any concessions as we are on a tight budget. The staff was super friendly. If another movie we want to see is playing here we will be back. read more

I went to this theater for the first time, I'm a regular at Northridge, but they didn't have the movie I wanted to see, epic Elvis! Bought my ticket right at the counter only one person ahead of me. Ordered a pepperoni pizza that they made fresh with fresh dough took about five minutes. Maybe it was the munchies, but that was some really good pizza! I asked to use the close captioning device so I wouldn't miss a word. Enjoyed every minute of it. Luxurious reclining electric seats, place was all clean not one piece of popcorn on the floor not sticky. Don't know where these Nancys get all that! I'd highly recommend it, I'll go back! The only thing they're missing is beer like they have at Northridge a beer would've been nice with the movie. read more

Came here and saw Now You See Me, Now You Don't I'm going to have to raise my eyebrows at the previous reviews. Maybe it's because I've never interacted with any of the employees during my visit. It's been years since I've stepped foot inside this cinema, like most new and grandiose multiplex. It's comfortable and even got to see my movie in DOLBY ATMOS! The visual and audio was more than enough for me. I didn't feel like I was at the ritz, I felt like I was at a movie theatre. More: I don't buy concessions when I go to the movies, so I don't know about "unforgivable" prices but to use more reserved vocabulary, this is how they make money to pay their employees, I should know I worked at a movie theatre before. Overall I had a great experience, buying tickets online was easy and pleasant. I enjoyed my movie - thank you for the hospitality! read more

I have mixed feelings. I love the movies here and the loyalty program. However, the theaters are usually too cold and today I believe I was mistakenly directed to the wrong theater. So I saw a movie I didn't necessarily want to see, and missed the one I wanted to see! read more

This theater is unacceptable, they should fire half the staff. I went to get an icee with my friend and the gave it to us in a whole different cup even though they're supposed to come in the blue and red cups. Not only that but one of the employees, with a name tag of anyelo was scratching his balls while being behind the counter and making eye contact. When I went into the bathroom after, there was pieces of poop smeared in the walls like modern art. Finally when we got to the movie I noticed there was something cold and stuck on my seat and it was a condom that had fossilized onto the seat. Overall the experience wasn't good. read more

My co-worker went to see a movie last weekend at the Maya. While she was watching the movie she saw a rat run by. There were also cockroaches! She ended up leaving the movie early because she was so grossed out and when she threw out her trash, she saw a rat crawl out of the garbage can. Absolutely disgusting!!! She is going to report to the Health Department. My teenagers go here often but not anymore! read more

service is bad, dont ever come here if you are looking for a good place to enjoy a movie, they take away snacks at the front desk and when you go claim them after movie ends they say some dumb excuse to not give them to you. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! read more

What happened to this place? Are they closing? Did they file for bankruptcy? Maybe lost their lease? I have a lot of questions and zero answers. It's falling apart, floors are sticky, the bathroom is dirty after they just finished cleaning them. The woman's bathroom toilet just runs. The tickets are now bought in the concessions along with the popcorn. The seats are well worn. Who in charge? Anyone! Which was once a diamond in Old Town is now a stain. Last word...nope. read more

Not a very clean or nice theater. Pricey snacks! Parked on the street instead of paying for the lot

Movie: Spinal Tap 2 My partner and I have been looking forward to this movie for a very long time. Our experience started off great, but half way through the movie an employee came in and was distracting in the aisle, which was right next to us. Then, about 3 minutes before the end of the movie, the house lights turned on, full blast! I was so confused, trying to look back at the projector and to the side entrance, hoping someone was there to get them to fix it, but in the confusion I ended up missing the climax of the film. I was so upset which led me to asking to speak to a manager. The manager couldn't care less. He was so dismissive and unapologetic. On top of that, he didn't offer any refund, free tickets for future use, or popcorn vouchers. Nothing to make up for this terrible experience. I'm so disappointed and hurt by this whole thing, that I doubt I'll ever visit that location, or any other Maya Cinemas, for that matter. read more

What a bizarre experience! It's been a couple years since we've visited maya and when we went tonight you are not missing much We go to order food and popcorn and when I ask for butter it's oh you do it yourself? Okay sure, I'll try and hold all my stuff put it all down to then put butter not a big deal So then we go check in and I have two toddlers with kids sippy cups with water and we are told nope not allowed take them back to the car and we won't hold them I was so taken aback and I asked, you really don't allow babies to bring drinks in even bottles and she told me NO! We even offered to empty out the drinks and she refused. I went to a manager at the front desk who said it was fine but just bizzare world. Seats were comfy and cozy I will give kudos there. But then as we are leaving I know to get parking validated on your way out, we are leaving the parking garage on our way out and it's expired and the parking garage attendant says you need to get validated a SECOND time at the window how ridiculous is that. If you pack your patience and time go for it but confirmation of why we drive miles away even though we live a couple min away from this location . read more

1. As a 30+ yo them asking for an ID is ridiculous, luckily my partner had his ID. I came to watch a movie not go to a bar. I don't bring my whole purse with me. 2. Rude. 3.Watched Weapons and paid for MPX... the volume was so low, it sounded like the actors were whispering. read more

If I could give it a negative star I would. I have been coming here for YEARS. We came in to watch Weapons on 08/12/25. The movie was great don't get me wrong. But the service? HORRIBLE. THEY LOST MY PARKING TICKET AND MADE ME PAY THE LOST TICKET FEE. They charged us for our food and as soon as we pay they tell us they don't have it. So we had to wait and go back to get it during our movie. I missed AT LEAST HALF OF MY MOVIE dealing with this shit. The "manager" that was helping me wouldn't even look at me and had his hair all over his face. The girl at the counter couldn't even hear me when I was clearly speaking up and kept getting my order wrong. I can safely say I will never come back here again. I was trying to stay a loyal customer but with the bad customer service and the light turning on before the movie ends and the seats making loud noises and being all ripped up I can now say no thank you. Do NOT come here if you want to ENJOY your movie. read more

Complete joke don't waste your money Brandon Stewart the manager could careless if you come or if you go literally sighed an rolled his eyes on me an my wife an acted very Rude over the matter like it was my fault or my problem after i explained to him his staff in the front are having a hard time an the lack of training on her first day with no supervision (he wasn't helping his own team) caused a line an made me late to my movie since tickets are purchased from the snack counter I couldn't finish the movie an asked for a refund I never have this issue at other theaters read more

1- You can't buy ticket at box office. Have to go to snack bar & wait in line while others buy a bunch of food ahead of you, takes way too long, all I wanted was a ticket I should have been able to get at the non-functional box office window. 2- only 2 people were working for morning matinee, 1 in box office ignored me, the other saw it was raining, cold, people waiting to be let in at 10:35 but instead, she ignored us, "slowly" placed several sets of mats down, moved food carts out onto the floor, by now it was 10:45 & still hadn't let us in. 3- was colder inside the theater than outside! 4- was sr. bargain matinee day which used to be $5, now it's $6, that's no bargain. 5- way TOO MANY commercials & previews prior to show, I pd. to see a "movie," not boring, annoying commercials! Avatar was supposed to be 3 hr. 15. min but w/all the pre-show commercials, did not get out of theater until 2:35 for a movie that started at 11 & was supposed to be over by 2:15! 6- like to read movie posters after the movie, when I got out, the entire theater lights were all out, it was so dark I could not see the posters & there was not a power outage, they were just saving money on heat & lights. Whatever, a BIG ZERO for customer rating. Won't go back. No one likes being ignored, not getting a bargain & not getting a comfortable movie experience as it had no heat. Booooo! read more

I wish I could give it a zero. WE got there at 11:45 when opened for a 12:15 movie. The lobby was filthy...it looked like it had not been cleaned from the night before. Popcorn was old and the butter dispenser was goopy with old butter. The bathrooms were worse than gross. Service was terrible almost non-existent. Won't be back ever. read more

We got there and received our snacks however there wasn't anyone to check our tickets and direct us where to go. We pretty much missed our movie. This movie theater seems to be going down hill fast. I attended opening night of a very popular film series. There was less than 12 people there. Surprised that it wasn't packed. Popcorn was what brought it up to 3 stars. Sound quality was very good. Seating was average-very good. Staff there was a problem. Friendly at best, but not outstanding. Everyone working there gave an impression of not liking their jobs. And don't bother calling. They never return your calls. Ugh! read more

I went to watch the dog man movie and it was great because no one was there. like only me and my mom lol OwO

I probably won't go back. The popcorn wasn't fresh and before the credits rolled, a theater worker was in and shinned a light in all the patrons eyes. We'd been sitting hours in the dark watching our movie and it was very jarring. I spoke to the manager and she said, "Well, we need to count how many people were in there." So I guess that means it's a policy. read more

No jalapenos since no one wants to refill anything. You should see how filthy the butter and condiment station is. It's disgusting. Nobody is working anymore. You have one person at the register doing movie tickets and food so the line takes forever..no one even checks your tickets so you can iust walk in. The nice seats are all worn out already so you feel dirty just sitting down. The seats wouldn't be that big of an issue if they were actually being cleaned but they are all greasy and old food left on the seats. You can notice the major cut backs the owner has made and I get you're trying to have profits but I will no longer be bringing my family here. Difficult to find street parking. The sound system can use some improvement. No tables on their lounge chairs makes it hard to balance that big bucket of popcorn on the arm of the chair.
