I went to this theater for the first time, I'm a regular at Northridge, but they didn't have the movie I wanted to see, epic Elvis! Bought my ticket right at the counter only one person ahead of me. Ordered a pepperoni pizza that they made fresh with fresh dough took about five minutes. Maybe it was the munchies, but that was some really good pizza! I asked to use the close captioning device so I wouldn't miss a word. Enjoyed every minute of it. Luxurious reclining electric seats, place was all clean not one piece of popcorn on the floor not sticky. Don't know where these Nancys get all that! I'd highly recommend it, I'll go back! The only thing they're missing is beer like they have at Northridge a beer would've been nice with the movie.

Good movies are starting to come out so Maya membership is going to be worth the price. Be sure to use both of those ($5.00 $ 15% off) at the same time at the popcorn stand. Clean theater and bathroom.

    Yikes.

What happened to this place? Are they closing? Did they file for bankruptcy? Maybe lost their lease? I have a lot of questions and zero answers. It's falling apart, floors are sticky, the bathroom is dirty after they just finished cleaning them. The woman's bathroom toilet just runs. The tickets are now bought in the concessions along with the popcorn. The seats are well worn. Who in charge? Anyone! Which was once a diamond in Old Town is now a stain. Last word...nope.

If I could give it a negative star I would. I have been coming here for YEARS. We came in to watch Weapons on 08/12/25. The movie was great don't get me wrong. But the service? HORRIBLE. THEY LOST MY PARKING TICKET AND MADE ME PAY THE LOST TICKET FEE. They charged us for our food and as soon as we pay they tell us they don't have it. So we had to wait and go back to get it during our movie. I missed AT LEAST HALF OF MY MOVIE dealing with this shit. The "manager" that was helping me wouldn't even look at me and had his hair all over his face. The girl at the counter couldn't even hear me when I was clearly speaking up and kept getting my order wrong. I can safely say I will never come back here again. I was trying to stay a loyal customer but with the bad customer service and the light turning on before the movie ends and the seats making loud noises and being all ripped up I can now say no thank you. Do NOT come here if you want to ENJOY your movie.

Dirty- shoes stick to the floor. Broken down bathrooms and reclining chairs. Not open at advertised time and when open, concessions are not ready. Movie started late. 0/10 recommend. This place used to be the theater to be at! I keep coming hoping it will get better. Just continues to decline.

Not a very clean or nice theater. Pricey snacks! Parked on the street instead of paying for the lot

The theater seems like it is not being taken care of, bad vibes it would be worth it to drive across town to the other theater.

Ask the Community - Maya Cinemas

Do I have to pay for parking?

If you park in the nearby parking garage, a Maya Cinemas attendant can validate your parking ticket so you won't have to pay for parking upon exiting the parking garage.

It's been 2 years since I've been to Maya Salinas, do I have to purchase reserved seating online or can I show up and pick my seat when I go in the theater after buying snacks?

    You can do both options.

It was great when they opened up this huge cinema complex in downtown Salinas.

As a tribute to Steinbeck and his connection to the area, the museum was thoughtful, engaging, and well worth the visit. I especially enjoyed the quirky gift shop, always a bonus when a museum shop has personality. The drive into Salinas was also unexpectedly lovely, with so many fields and vegetables growing. It gave the whole visit a strong sense of place and helped connect the landscape to Steinbeck's writing. A great stop for literature lovers, history fans, or anyone looking for something meaningful to do in the area.

Unfortunately, reading his books wasn't part of my high school English curriculum; however, my interest in his works was rekindled by visiting this amazing facility! I spent at least a couple hours meandering through the exhibit, beginning with a short film telling the story of his life. It was fascinating to learn how John Steinbeck was both shaped by his hometown, and how much influence he had on the literary landscape during his lifetime. There is so much to look at and discover here! If you're a book nerd, whether a Steinbeck fan or novice like me, check this place out. Ticket prices are reasonable, and they offer discount for locals, veterans, and youth, or if you become a member. I can't wait to visit his childhood home next!
