I came here on Labor Day weekend for a show; When I attempted to enter the venue with my mother, the man in the picture chose to grant admittance to folks that came to the front after we did. As people of color that are historically undermined and overlooked, this felt like an affront. My mom very respectfully mentioned to him that we were in line ahead of the folks that he chose to grant entry to first. His choice in response was to immediately escalate the situation and threaten to not let us in the venue for saying something. Both my mom and I told him that it's not that serious; his response was that "it's always not that serious once you might not get into the venue, isn't it?" I have never encountered anything like this in my life, and was very taken aback. After he helped the folks that entered the line after us, he let us into the venue; however, a sour taste was left in my mouth. When leaving the venue, he was seated at the door (as depicted in the photo here), and he began loudly exclaiming escalatory things to his coworker (a young, interracial looking lady that helped us at the ticket booth initially) including that I was giving dirty looks and that even though this event promotes "one love" he thinks I'm here doing the opposite. I doubled back and asked him for his name. He refused to tell me. I asked the young lady that helped us at the ticket office earlier in the day for the name of the gentleman depicted here. She refused to tell me and acted like she didn't know what was going on. A security guard with a tattoo above his eyebrow came up to us and began to ask what was going on, I asked him for the name of the gentleman depicted above. He refused to tell me and insisted that he didn't know. As someone who has worked customer service/customer facing jobs in the past, I am 100% on the side of the employee under normal circumstances. These jobs are not easy and without their service, we could not enjoy the amenities that we often take for granted. However, this was a HIGHLY unprofessional experience. Rather than calmly and finitely articulating to us his reasoning for taking a customer that came after us, he chose to escalate the situation unnecessarily and threaten to not let us into the venue after we purchased our ticket. Furthermore, his colleagues that refused to de-escalate the situation and/or provide me with his name (their response was "I don't know what you're talking about") are a part of the problem as well. Upon leaving the venue, SEVERAL folks that were at the same event and are from the area came up to me and said that the people that work here are highly unprofessional and it's been like this for years. I don't know who has allowed this type of nonsense to happen for so long, but the conduct of your employees is highly unprofessional and inappropriate. I will continuously dissuade folks from going to this venue. The only reason why someone should come here is if they want to be antagonized by staff. read more

The owner is so disrespectful and so is his staff. There was this senior citizen with a camera outside a line that waited almost 40 minutes to finally open (even though the doors were supposed the open at 8:00 pm), asking for an ID and Passport. With the present situation our community is experiencing, his joke was offensive not funny. read more

Went to see Charo and her show was great! But the most expensive seats were packed in at eight people to a table approximately five feet by two and a half feet. Don't be so greedy, six per table should have been better. But a good time was had by all and it's nice to be in an old theatre. Staff was accommodating. Five stars for bringing Charo and two for the seating. read more

This venue is absolute trash. I am telling you right now with a vote of confidence, that I will NEVER come back here for any form of entertainment, ever again. I had stopped in to see Jo Koy here and I think saying that I was disappointed in my overall experience would be an overwhelming understatement. Let's talk seating, shall we? If you get tickets for the "upper terrace" don't expect much more than a glorified folding chair. It's not even stadium seating, so I was stuck looking at the back of someone's big 'ol bald, dome for a portion of the show. Acoustics? AWFUL! I couldnt hardly understand what jokes where being told! Not to mention that the volume wasn't high enough and the reverb was deafening. Service? Forgetaboutit. The ladies that come around to ask you about drinks glaze over you unless you have a triple dollar sign order. Not one ounce of personality. Not to mention that they created a safety hazard when they dropped some drinks on the floor and no one bothered to clean it up... my shoes stuck to the floor the entire evening! Drinks? Small and pricey. Enough said. Food? Negative. Come with a full belly. I made the mistake of showing up starving and forked over $10 for a lukewarm baked potato, doused in a river of too-cold-to-be-edible, artificial, nacho cheese and other various toppings... another big mistake. After 15-20 minutes of hell, I decided to let someone know what was going on. I was greeted with a "It is what it is" type of attitude and a slough of excuses. I gave up. Told the manager I was upset about the money I wasted and that i'd never return. Then and only then did he try and reseat my mom and I... and although i'm thankful for the effort, the improvement was marginal. Such a disappointment. Anthony Lane runs a tight ship here, his crew is very attentive to the needs and safety of this venue and does a very great job at that. Thank you for having such a wonderful, clean, safe venue for the local Salinas folks to enjoy a nice show every once in a while, without having to travel to SF for it! Salinas is blessed by the Fox Theater. read more

Although the show I saw was good, it was very hot and stuffy with no airflow. The seats have barely any space in front of them and everyone has to move out of the entire isle to let someone in or out.. very uncomfortable. There were also some light and sound problems all though the show. Very disappointing venue. read more

I used to take my sons here to see the movies in the old days when this was the only theater in town. Back then it was an okay place to go. Needed an update back then but then they started having concerts here. Sounds like it has been spiraling downward since then. So sad. I still have good memories of the place nonetheless. read more

Worst place to go for comedy or show. You don't have stadium seating and the chairs are all lined up straight so God forbid if a tall person sits in front cause you'll be stuck not being able to view the show. Definitely blunt a good venue for any type of show. Drinks were mediocre and expensive. They said doors would open at 8 show to start at 9, that did not happen. Show didn't start until about 9:30 which was ridiculous. Would not recommend this place. read more

This place is the worst. The doors opened at 8:30pm. I had to wait over 2 hours in line in the rain regardless that I had already pre-purchased tickets. This place sucks I will never come here again. The staff lacked professionalism and were completely rude. The woman who checks ID's has no idea what she is doing and is extremely disrespectful. read more

Artist pov: Very unorganized and rude staff. Show was supposed to start at 7 but didn't until 9. Our band didn't go on till 11. Our plus ones were given backstage wristbands but were harassed by staff and told they had no business being back there because it would be "crowded". Before doors had opened we were in the back parking lot and doors got locked on us. When we went back around the front, again rude staff said "you're lucky we are letting you back in this time, but next time you can't be coming in and out". Out of all the venues we have been to we have never dealt with such rude and unorganized staff. Never coming back to this dirty venue. read more

I was with a party that reserved 2 tables and bought multiple tickets here. We get to the line where the security checks you and I forgot i had a flask on me they said it wasn't allowed so i said ok no problem and left. I came back in line after getting rid of it and an older lady bouncer started yelling at me. "No you cant come in!" I asked why? And she was like because you have been drinking lol (even though they sell drinks inside) The girls in my party then came out to talk to this old lady who was on some power trip and she lied to them saying she gave me two chances... lol What ever makes her feel comfortable at night with her lonley self... Either way i will never return to this venue with my business. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars or negative stars, I would. The place isn't that bad, but the staff definitely know how to ruin the whole experience. Super rude staff, especially the blonde lady. They definitely need some customer service training or just new staff overall. read more

If you are looking to host a party or event, look no further! Anthony and the team at the Fox Theater are awesome! We recently hosted a high school reunion here and I am so glad we chose the Fox! Their prices were much better than any other local venue and the theater is beautiful! So much better than a generic hall or reception room. Anthony helped us every step of the way, even down to the decor for the night. You will be in great hands at the Fox Theater! read more

Fox Theater is a great place to see a concert. Really good sound and lighting. I have seen both DJs and live bands there and both sound amazing. Also, they do really nice weddings and banquets. read more

Came her for the Jboog/Katchafire show on July 5. Great place to see a show. I had a question about ticket prices so I sent an email through their "Contact Us" option on the Fox Theater website. I had a reply and my question answered within an hour. Loved the way this theater is set up. There is an upstairs with theater seating. Downstairs the floor is two levels the top level has the bar and VIP tables. Walk down 5 stairs and you in the floor level general admission. The show we went to was all ages so under 21's had to be upstairs. This theater has 2 bars one in the foyer and one directly inside the theater itself. The bartenders were working fast so it was never a long wait for a drink. read more

Been to lots of events here. I don't know why every one loves the inside, it's small, cheesy looking, smells strange and dusty. Staff are rude and clueless. They can have some good events and that's the ONLY reason for the stars. Everything else is crap. read more

I was in a wedding tonight and it was fantastic. The theater is beautiful. The fillagree is stunning and the details on the ceiling are lovely. The staff is friendly and acomidating. I highly recomend this beautiful location to anyone planning a special event. read more

I forgot how this place looked on the inside but they have did a good job on restoring this place. Kind of brings you back in the day. Watched my cousin back on May 17, 2014 for his first MMA fight. TKO victory for him. It was a good night. read more

Went to the Jo Koy show last night. He was hilarious as always but the venue was awful the seating on the Upper Terrace was organized so you couldn't see the stage there was about 50 people having to stand in the back just to try to see the performer on stage. When we asked to change seats we were given a rude response even though when we bought the tickets they automatically assigned you seats you could not see the seating chart and choose where you'd like to sit. And it wasn't like general admission were first come first serve. Very unorganized. The ticket said 5 p.m. start time you weren't even allowed to enter the building until almost 5:30. Will never go there again for any event was not worth the $50 a ticket when we had to leave early because it was so miserable and it's so disrespectful to the performer because it reflects on him as well even though it wasn't his fault. Still love Jo Koy and will be happy to see him at any other venue read more

I attended a show here recently. While the show itself was nice, the seats were awful. The seats have so little legroom, they make airplane seats seem luxurious. If you are taller than 5'8", you will not be comfortable in these seats. Another downer about this theater, all tickets purchased online were "will-call", so naturally the line to pick up tickets before the show was over two blocks long. Because 90% of the audience was stuck outside waiting in line, they had to delay the start of the show by 45 minutes. Very poor management and overall bad experience. read more

By far the worst customer service from the manger to the employees are all rude and not friendly whatsoever ( I actually saw the manager make a unnecessary comment to the security guard about a person whom had a complain) . Went there for the Baby Bash Concert in July 2015. Bouncer gave my friend a BS excuse about dress code for not letting him in after I just purchased a ticket for him right in front of his face. When I go back from going out of my way to drop him back at home I find other dudes in there with same tees and sneakers that he wouldn't let my friend in for. Dude was on a serious power trip or homophobic. Manager didn't even look into the issue and tried to argue with us about it, it was our first time there to top it off. Cashier wasn't even ready with Will call list when we arrived at the time they were supposed to already be open. Although he was the most polite staff member he was completely clueless. Called ahead of time to ask if they took credit to find out they didn't when we arrived. All around crappy experience really disappointed, don't waste your money here and just take the drive to Santa Cruz Catalyst better venue, staff, and performances. read more

Came here to see Ozomatli perform it was an amazing live performance. The only problems I had was the watered down drinks that you had to buy tickets for but there was no menu. Also the seats were super close together. Had my knees up to my chest. Other than that nice venue used to go to watch movies when I was a kid here. read more
