The venue itself has so much coastal charm already that you don't feel overwhelmed with needing to infuse a lot of personality through decor. At the same time, it can still be transformed with florals and any additional decor elements. It was truly the best of both worlds. Our venue provided coordinator Alyssa was fantastic to work with! She answered so many of our questions and was always quick to respond over email. The catering provided by the venue was phenomenal and all of our guests raved about the food. We went with the New York steak and tarragon crusted salmon as our entrees and they were even better than we remembered at our tasting. Since we had a small guest count we even got to add on a slew of extra desserts to reach our food and beverage minimum and additional decor/rental items which was great because it felt like every dollar went towards something. They were even accommodating to our specific signature cocktail requests which were off-menu and our specific NA beer requests. Everything the day of the wedding went smoothly and without a hitch. Bray performed solo with just his guitar and vocals, and what impressed me most was the incredible range of music he covered. His set moved effortlessly across decades and styles--from Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra, and Lionel Richie to David Bowie, Simple Minds, Howard Jones, The Romantics, Georgia Satellites, and more. Some of my favorites included "Folsom Prison Blues," "As the World Falls Down," "You Spin Me Round," "No One Is to Blame," "Don't You (Forget About Me)," "Sundown," and a beautiful rendition of "Fly Me to the Moon." The warm, elegant atmosphere of the hotel lobby was a perfect setting for Bray's acoustic performance. He has a wonderful ability to take familiar songs and make them his own while still preserving what made us love them in the first place. What I particularly appreciate about Bray is his versatility. Whether he is performing with a full band or standing alone with a guitar, he knows how to read a room, connect with an audience, and create an atmosphere that makes you want to stay and listen. For a hotel charging over $400 a weeknight, finding a sexually explicit photograph with a…read morehandwritten note left on a chair in the lobby is absolutely appalling. Frankly, this is the kind of thing I'd expect to encounter at a Motel 6, not a premium Monterey hotel. I brought it to the front desk because I felt someone needed to know what was being left in the lobby. The employee was shocked and said it was horrible, but there wasn't much follow-up. I returned to my husband and baby, honestly relieved that I was the one who found it rather than a child. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable, the staff we encountered were friendly, check-in and valet were quick, and the crib delivery was appreciated. The location itself nice, although the surprise two-elevator trip from our room to the lobby was inconvenient, especially with a stroller. I wish the layout had been clearer when booking, I didn't need an ocean view but I highly value convenience which is why I booked a Cannery Row hotel to begin with. The lobby incident is what I'll remember most. I would expect the hotel to staff to acknowledge such an atrocity a bit more. Monterey was wonderful for my first visit, and I'll absolutely return, but I'll probably be choosing a different hotel next time. Update: I brought up the incident again at checkout, and the front desk employee responded, "Oh yes, we were made aware of that." No further acknowledgment or explanation. We were then asked if we wanted to review our bill and informed that parking alone was $102. The casual response to such an inappropriate discovery in a public lobby, combined with the $400+ room rate and $102 parking fee, only reinforced my disappointment with this experience.

This place was a nightmare. We should have checked out as soon as we saw the room (328 on the…read morecottage side), but it was late and we were tired. Room was stuffy, no AC. The only window that had a screen would open only an inch. The other windows that could open ( they had to be pushed because the cranks were inoperable had no screens. So you either had a room full of flies or no air. There was nearly no light, the water from the tap stank and only one of three bulbs over the sink operated, so you had to trust the area was clean, despite the tiny bugs crawling on the coffee packet. The front door had gaps you could see through as well as the floor to wall connection in the bathroom. The tub was frightening - see pictures. We're not sure if they really used brown caulk around the one side of the tub and down the corner or if it was really rust or sludge. Also mold where there wasn't brown " caulk". This room screamed of neglect - paint was chipped, the bed had caverns where you tried to sleep. We left after one night of a three night reservation. We were promised a two night refund by the front desk and only given one night. Personally, we should have gotten a full refund. This was nothing like it looked online. My initial complaint after arriving was met with complete indifference from the front desk. If I could give a negative stars rating this would get it. Save yourself. Book elsewhere.

This was not something we planned on, and it was nice to see. 2) The venue is extremely cut-off from the noise of the outside world. Aside from the occasional jet flying overhead, we heard no sirens, no traffic, and no rowdy groups of people going by during the ceremony. That's really about it in terms of perks. The flowers were amazing and add an element of elegance to the whole thing. Overall I would highly recommend the venue to anyone else. One word of warning- the summer weekends book FAST there, so if you're thinking about summer wedding, pull the trigger quickly when you've chosen a date, and have a couple backup dates in mind.

Garden Footprint…read more Historical garden located outside the Pacific House Museum and is part of the Monterey State Historic Park. Designed in 1927, this garden is now mostly used as an event space for weddings, receptions and banquets for 150 to 300 guests, depending on the event.
