So glad they are now close to me vs. JC. I had no problems in 2 occassions. First time was dinner. Chicken, crispy pata, garlic rice, and bicol express. Flavor was excellent. Second time was take out with added sisig and above. All good and no issues. We are frequent with Peruvian chicken where flavor is focused inside and as for Max, you get what they've been selling. Fried chicken that is crispy. read more

The chicken that they are all proud of is super dry and over cooked. The food is meh and not worth the price that you paid. You are better off going to other restaurant's that offer better tasting food for less than what they charge. I've been to the restaurant at the west end (Vaughan, ON) and then again to their branch in Scarborough, both times I was disappointed. I was hoping that it would be different in NJ but alas, it wasn't. I guess I'm a sucker for punishment. read more

Delicious, affordable homestyle Filipino cooked food! Selections are great, similar to the menu in the Philippines (selected, but not all are there). Halo Halo, Crispy Pata, Lechon Kawali Sisig, and Batangas Lomi are a MUST TRY! Batangas Lomi is served in a huge bowl, good for the entire family! Also, ample parking in the strip mall area (compared to the location in Jersey City). Worth the 25 minute drive! read more

For some reason the food here is a lot better compared to Jersey City location, the servers were more accommodating. I could give them a five star if only the place is bigger, the reason why people were complaining was because of the waiting period for the tables. read more

Food was delicious. We ordered Max's half chicken, sisig pusit, sizzling tofu, and nilaga. We also went shortly after opening so we did not have to wait long for a table. Service was just right. read more

Seriously this i can't believe that this place i a filipino resto. Service is really bad i was expecting to see some filipino hospitality but NOPE!!! Waiters are bad here they are SLOW for real. One of them have to take out the food coz its took so long and he lose his appetite and his frustrated that took almost 45 minutes. Not going back anymore even if its the only Max's in USA. Food was good though but service is a 0 star read more

Gave it another try after a bad experience from Jersey City branch. Thought it would change but NOOOO! There is no consistency with how their foods are cooked. it looks like there is nobody overseeing what is going out of the kitchen. I have tasted the fresh lumpia 2 weeks ago and it was good. Last night November 11...all the food that we ordered was either bland on tasteless. The canton was blah. The lichen kawaii was over fried. Asked the waiters if there are different cooks and the answer is yes. It really should not matter if there are different cooks but they need to follow just one recipe and not cook them according to how they want to cook the dish. If this practice continuous, your place will just continue to go down and close. It's a shame to carry the name Max if the tradition of fine food is not going to be followed through. read more

Came for my birthday dinner. Food was eh. Service was horrible. Watered down mango drink. Dry unseasoned chicken. Go get the mango drink at East West Market instead honestly. The server Gerald had the nerve to tell me I under tipped them. Sorry not sorry if 15% didn't suffice your HORRIBLE service. Never coming back to dine in. read more

The food was good, but like another reviewer said, "Nothing to write home about." I will say this though, the Lime drink was delicious and uniquely flavored and the fried chicken was crispy outside and tender and flavorful inside. The rice was pretty boring and the spring roll was okay. If you need something fast and non-greasy, this is a good spot. Go at lunch time because the food is freshest when it's busy. read more

ATTENTION! Do not listen to bad reviews, if you are filipino this is the place to go. Authentic food that tastes great if you know how to order. read more

I come here all the time, but my last visit was just terrible. Ordered crispy pata, that was overcooked and the dipping sauce was just soy sauce not the usual dipping sauce that was a mixture of vinegar and soy sauce. They charged for my refills and none of the workers knew what what on the menu. I will not be going back to this establishment anymore. read more

Max's Restaurant is a new management. It has been a few years since I bought any food here. It used to be under a different management, but both offer Filipino cuisine. I never dine in; it has always been a take-out meal for me. This past Sunday I bought a few dishes to take away, like I had always done in the past. Sadly, this new management fall short in their dishes. The shanghai rolls were fried in stale cooking oil. I had always enjoyed the Shanghai rolls by the previous management so this time I bought two orders; only to have one order thrown out. I dislike wasting food. Like what Pope Francis had said, wasting food is like stealing from the hungry. But the Shanghai rolls by Max's were really horrible and unhealthy to eat. To add insult to injury, the dipping sauce that Max's provided with the Shanghai rolls is nothing but ketchup. The previous management offered special Shanghai rolls sauce. The lechon is another downer, a total flop! The meatloaf is nothing to write home about either. The only decent edible dish is adobo fried rice. Definitely not going back to Max's again. I am always on the lookout for fried chicken and I am always on the lookout for quality Filipino food. I found neither at this restaurant. The fried chicken was very mediocre. The rest of the food on the menu. From OK to OK. read more

This is the first time I went to a restaurant that don't have a liquor license! when I ask if I can bring some beer they said they will charge a corkage! What are you guys thinking? Unbelievable! Then we tried ordering set menu! Manager said "Sir we don't have the full menu available yet! SMH! Sisig was very salty! I cant recommend this location yet because the Full Menu is not available due to opening has only been 3 weeks! Visit Jersey City! read more

Where to start ?First, it took 20 min. to get our drinks . Then it took 30 min. to get our cold food . They gave us the wrong order of rice halfway so we had to wait for the right one. So the food wasn't even warm when we ate . The food tasted old . And if you want to b.y.o.b. they charge you $10 . Don't waste your money here . Bad service and food . Plus the parking sucks . What else can I say ? read more

Very clean place. Waiter was very nice they should invest in turning the ac on in there. Appetizer Max Teaser. Very fresh enjoyed it. Main course Pancit Canton and a whole chicken. Excellent!! read more

Had late lunch on a busy Saturday with hubby. We were seated right away but our order came late had to ask at least twice where our order was. Had the buko juice and sago/gulaman which we enjoyed. Ordered the Kare Kare and Pork Sisig which was not sizzling when it was served. Halfway through our meal followed up on 2 more orders Goat Caldereta and Sweet Potato Fries. Server came back very apologetic that our order was mistakenly served to someone else and she just placed the order again. We cancelled that order. How could a restaurant make such a mistake? The kare kare and sisig was just ok but not great. read more

Fried chicken was just ok. Crispy skins fluffy and not too dry. Food came out fast but definitely not worth the price. I don't think I will come back read more

I've eaten at Max's Restaurant several times and in multiple locations. The food here is descent to great. I would recommend their pork bbq, soups and halo-halo for dessert. I also recommend you order take out instead of dinning in. The service is not that great and their rice is mediocre. Why do I go back even with so so service and bad rice, the pork BBQ is that delicious!!! read more

Very friendly service Joseph couldn't of been nicer the menu is lacking, maybe I just yearning for the old east west which this fails to replace. The pancit palabok was tasteless and soupy the lumpia shanghi overcooked what a disappointment read more

Should have just went to Max jersey city.. Food wasn't good I mean yeah its still new and they still have a lot learn especially how they cook the food.. Worst part was Im almost dont with my water and I saw a fruit fly the we ordered turon with mango ice cream and they gave us lumpia with mango ice cream maybe will be back but after 2 years when they all reviews are positive.. We only received the bill and no apologies from who ever.. read more

Service was slow, waited a long to get seated then once seated they forgot about us. Food was ok, portions were small and items came at different times. We had a larger party and ordered multiple servings of items and got one of them and waited 30 minutes to get the second one. Floors were super slippery and the bathroom were disgusting. The staff was friendly but they never came around after they served the food. Majorly disappointed. read more

Food is delicious a bit expensive. The chicken is the size of a cornish hen for $15. The pancit which comes with pork, shrimp and chicken I requested no pork I didn't have any in my plate which I appreciate very much. The pancit was $10 for noodles 2 shrimp and some chicken. The food was good but they need to add more chicken or shrimp if someone doesn't get pork because otherwise the dish is very plain. read more

Trash. Take a little drive to MAMA FINA'S...its way better. I dont know why this location has stale everything when its supposed to be crunchy or crispy. Stale bland lumpia, stale fried chicken, stale pata, and over an hour wait for bland tasteless food. Service sucks so bad!!! Servers had no control over it and they were polite but management is nuts. And food control/quality gross. Wouldnt spend another dime here. Food my grandma cooks better than these cooks read more

If you want to test your patience, try ordering to go & without a doubt you will get what you asked for... patience!!! We waited 1 hour & 45 min & our food wasn't even ready yet. The receptionist had to gather our order from the other orders that were ready for pick up. One good thing though, we had the time to socialize with the customers who were patiently waiting to be seated. One great Filipino trait!:) read more

Considering we've been to other max's location, we expected the experience to be similar. Boy, were we wrong. Food aside, it was good, but their servers need real training in customer service and quality assurance. For example, you do not bring out an order of rice without bringing out any of the main dishes because by the time those dishes come out, the rice will be cold. To top it off, we ordered 5 main dishes that all came out at different times not together. Some 10-15 min apart from the other main dishes. My kids ate through the rice pretty quickly so we ordered another batch but cancelled because we waited 30 min for 3 cups of rice! My husband wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt despite of poor reviews from other diners, but we will not be coming back to this location. We arrived at the restaurant at 5p before they got busy and left at 7. Their lack of proper customer service made for a very poor dining experience! read more

Very disappointed. Went to the restaurant for the 1st time on Monday 4/3/17. Was excited since it was closer than Jersey city. Our party waited for almost an hour and when we ask the hostess she never wrote our name on the list. When we arrive a sign on the window says that they are out of Fried Chicken, isn't that suppose to be their specialty. Since we were waiting for a table for awhile they decide to take our drink and food order so it would be ready once we are seated. Their menu doesn't have the same selection as the one JC, for example no palabok (hope I spelled it correctly), and few other things were missing. Waiter explained that it's because they just recently opened and they are trying to get the feel of what the customer will order. We asked for buko juice but they were out of it, he said they had calamansi Juice and mango juices so we ordered a few of each and also our dinner. Once we were seated half of our drinks came. Our drink orders consisted of 3 mango juice, 2 sago and 2 calamansi juice. Half of the drinks came and we had to remind the waiter that we were missing 2 sago and 1 mango juice which took awhile to bring to us and only to tell us they were out of mango juice, decided to replace it with another calamansi juice. We receive most of our food but it took another 20 minutes for the crispy pata to come and that's because we had to remind the waiter we didn't receive it. We tried to get refill on our drinks but only to tell us that they just ran out of calamansi juice so decided to just ask for water, at least they can't run out of that. We finished our dinner and wanted to try the halo-halo but they were out of it too. I don't know maybe it's just me but if you open up a chain restaurant, the menu should be similar as all the other location. Also they should not be running out of things since they have only been open for a couple of weeks. Sorry for the rant but I am a fan of Max's and the Bloomfield location is just not up to par. Pandan in Bloomfield would be a better selection. read more

Family went here on a Sunday afternoon for an early dinner. First, parking was not easy. Either you park on the street or fight for a spot in the nearby lot. We got lucky that someone was leaving when we got there. Second, the wait is at least 30 minutes. This is understandable since it was on a weekend. We just made sure that we placed our order while waiting, just to be more efficient. We finally sat down and ordered kare kare, bulalo, sisig, fried chicken and some rice. Kare kare was really good - that was the only highlight of the meal. There was nothing special with the bulalo. It tasted just like a regular beef broth. Sisig was soggy and salty as hell. I took two bites and could not eat it anymore. Never had sisig as salty and soggy as that. There was also no crunch. Fried chicken was bland and dry. Again, nothing special to their specialty. And the rice, it came last and also just because we asked for it multiple times. Service was okay. Some are more helpful and joyful than others. Some had that angry face like I do not want to be here. And before I forget, it is not cheap here, but it would have been worth it if the food is above average. It was not. This is my first and last time here. A cheaper alternative is the Filipino store next door. Although I did not try it, they got much cheaper food and a young, gorgeous girl that worked the cash register. Maybe the owner's daughter. read more

The service are soo slow ..We waited for 30+mins and finally sat down and waited another fucking 30+ mins for the food to be served come on.We only order 3 items. Poor service. Very disorganized. It's just all kids working. Staff are walking back and forth while there's along line or should I say a crowd in the receiving area but no one is seating these hungry patiently waiting customers. We were promised a table in 30 mins but I have been standing here for 50 mins. I see 4 ready to seat tables yet staff just walking pass customers pretending to be busy. They need a manger here really bad. It's either they don't want to work or they don't want to make money on this night. read more

We waited for an hour to get seated, 15 mins to get assisted by our server who never came back to ask if we need anything else. Servers are no where to be found. The bathroom is nasty. Went for lunch on a Monday. Place was not packed so we were seated immediately and our order was taken promptly. We ordered lechon kawali sisig which has a chili sign next to it to signify that it will be spicy dish and also kare kare. It was a long wait for the food. The sisig and the rice came out first. We waited and waited for the kare kare until we got so hungry that I asked the server to please check on the order for us. If the order is going to take longer, the server should have notified us. The lechon kawali was so oily that i was hoping the spice would at least cut the greasy taste. I think they just sprinkled some pepper flakes to make it look spicy. It was very underwhelming. The kare-kare was ok. The servers looked ill at ease with their job. For a Filipino restaurant where you have to pay extra for the rice, either the service or the entrees themselves should be outstanding. I miss the Filipino buffet restaurant that this Max restaurant replaced. Also, for better sisig and cheaper sisig, I would rather go to Mama Finas. read more

Very disappointed with this place. The minute you open the door, you are greeted by an offensive smell. The first time we spent $88.00 for 3 people. The kare kare tasted like boiled beef from the previous day. The lumpia shanghai tasted sour, the fresh lumpia is good but swimming with sauce and the chicken tasted crispy but does not taste fresh. So a week after, I decided to give it another try, I ordered pancit canton to go. My mouth was watering as the smell was so good. But when I opened the package, the noodles were swimming in oil . It was very salty and sweet . I Had 4 spoons and am convinced that I am so done with this place . Too bad because the name is so familiar to all Filipinos and it is a shame to serve this type of food to your us .I love Max's at Jersey City, but now wonder if the quality of the food and standard has fallen below par as well. We want you to succeed but you make it hard for us to support your new business. If you continue to serve this sub standard taste, I do not expect you to be around for 1 year. read more
