    Buffet curry chicken
    Ms D.

If u value hospitality & welcoming friendly host, I'd suggest u look elsewhere. Had buffet & mentioned to the server the chicken has feathers & she commented "that's normal" rather than being apologetic or trying to serve chicken with no feathers or offering another option.

Ginataang. Barely a hint of coconut.

I have eaten at Five Chris a couple times, usually take out and at Nutley street fairs. It has always been just okay. I like the idea of supporting their business. Unfortunately, the quality has gone down rather significantly. My Mother's reaction to their "fresh" lumpia was, "They should be ashamed of themselves for selling that." My mother called them right away and questioned their fresheness. Their reply was, "That is how we sell it". I have eaten many fresh lumpias in my life and I have never seen it served this way (pic included). The shell was hard, stale and crunchy. It resembled a soft taco shell bought at supermarket that has been sitting out for awhile. Fresh is not what it was, at all. The ginataang was all starch and barely a hint of coconut. Too bad because there were a whole lot of chunks that I could have enjoyed. Turon was sweet and shell was ok but the banana was undercooked and dry. I really wanted to like it. A really good and flavorful kare kare will not require bagoong, I needed to add plenty of bagoong. The meat was hearty and tender, egglpant fresh and string beans were nice and crispy. It just needed more sauce and flavoring. The bbq sticks are usually very delicious but this time they were smothered in some sort of duck(?) sauce that I have never seen before. I thought the sauce for the lumpia accidentally broke in the bag all over the bbq sticks. The meat was tender. I could not tell if it tasted good because the sauce was just too overwhelming (see pic). With so many Filipino restaurants another visit is highly unlikely.

    I can't name the items.

This place serves a a large variety of entrees I can not name but either has pork or beef. I usually have to taste the soup before i serve myself a portion. i hate the vinegar in soups. I've come here for a quick large bite on a weekday after work. I will come back to get my protein overload fix because its under $10. Decor is eh and I don't think I saw a bathroom to use. Might be in the back.

$6 serve-yourself buffet comes with a variety of traditional Filipino food.

Mmm, Five Chris. We stopped by here to try out their buffet, which was $6 per person(lunchtime). Eating here really feels like eating at someone's house in the Philippines. We chose one of the most humid days of spring to come, and really felt it while we were sitting at the table with our mismatched plates and flatware, sipping on lukewarm soda with only the front door open for ventilation (i.e., no air conditioning--make that air-con for my Pinoys) and The Filipino Channel playing in the background. The food's pretty decent, but nothing to write home about. However, Filipino food is a unique find for this area, so if you've never tried it and don't have a Filipino household to mooch off of, Five Chris is as good as any. When we went, they had a decent selection, including kare-kare, lumpia (pork and banana), sinigang, pancit, and fried fish. Some of the food had clearly been sitting out for a while, but that's a buffet for you. A lot of the food is oily and fatty, which is typical of Filipino dishes. However, the complexity and variety of flavors wasn't as strong as I'd have liked--not to the point of blandness, just toned down. Apparently they do breakfast; I'd love to come back to satiate my tapa and bistek cravings.

Great buffet at this place. I'm new to filipino food. Just started eating it about a year ago so trying it at a buffet setting is my favorite to try about different dishes. This is a no frills, barely any AC type of place. You can choose from using disposable plates and bowls or use their real plates and bowls. For $6, you can eat so many different dishes including oxtail, soups, and dessert. We recently went on a hot day and it was very hot inside. We'll probably come back when it's a little cooler out.

Of all, I can recommend their pork sisig, crispy pata, and fresh lumpia, everything else was bland and lacked the usual ingredients. The tortang talong was mainly scrambled egg could barely taste the eggplant. The palabok only has a few shrimps and veggies, halo-halo is not something you would want from here. By the way, I just wish they would focus on cuisine that should emphasize their own, I believe they represent Filipino food. And I need to mention that their price is on the higher end, I find some to be even more expensive than the Max's restaurant not too far from them, which never disappoint by the way. Service- well, we went on a non-busy time, only one table was occupied actually. Nobody from the staff welcomed us, we had to look for someone working there, one lady who was just sitting asked how many we are without standing her butt off from where she's at and told us to just pick any table we want. Seems not a pleasant lady but there was actually a group that she welcomed when we were about to leave, so I guess they're only nice to people they see often, are we coming back? They made us feel not welcome here! Ambiance-not bad, it's okay.

It was about 25 minutes away from where we were but the great experience here made our drive worth. The place is very homey with a wonderful staff. Service is impeccable. The owners are very friendly and has great customer relations skills. The foods are excellent. We had the pleasure of trying their bangus sisig, pork bbq and caldereta. The tastes exceeded our expectations. We learned that their chef hailed from Luzon so the degree of cooking style satisfied our taste buds. The calamansi drink I had was fabulous. Honestly, the best I had so far. Our halo/halo dessert was heavenly. Satisfied our sweet tooth. The serving size is in huge portion. Each order is shareable by around 2-3 people. Pricing is higher in comparison to other place but proportioned to the serving size. I have one star less for my review for two reasons- 1.The check includes a service charge that confused us if a gratuity should be given or not. We need to Google first for right information. We ended up adding gratuity for their hospitality . 2. Looking for parking spot is challenging. We ended up downloading the town's parking mobile app to get parked closer. We are willing to return if ever we are near the area.

But, and there is a but. The food quantity for the price is way too little for way too much. $16 for a plate of rice and eggs and 3 pieces of longaniza. That's too expensive for how much you get imo. If I had at least 2 more pieces of longaniza I'd maybe accept that price but damn. I mean business is business but the price for the food quantity could be better. Service is acceptable. We got our order he gave us the order. We paid with card and I'm pretty sure we got a credit card fee he didn't mention but I let it slide. Ambiance. The place looks like someone's living room and a kitchen inside. You can't eat in there and imo the place has a lot of fire hazards. Not a place you can eat in comfortably and it's more of a take out place. What to expect when you go here. Decent food that's overpriced with acceptable service and you cannot eat in since they haven't done much to clean the place. My advice, just order out and if you don't care about crazy delivery fees from your favorite take out app, then you won't care about the price you pay for the food you get.
