The Max's Es-Ca experience was really more than I expected! My husband made reservations for my birthday/date night! The parking lot was packed but they have valet! We started with drinks- I had a cucumber mint martini OMG so freaking good and refreshing! Appetizers I had little neck clams on the half shell! So fresh, yum My husband had the burrata salad so good! For entrees we had zuppe de pesce, and I had the pan seared tuna! Everything was expertly prepared! Our waiter Gregory was so sweet and attentive! The service was impeccable and I cannot wait to go back!!!!!

Jumbo lump crabmeat cocktail & lobster cocktail

My ideal night here is eating dinner at the bar with Johnny, the bartender, serving us our food. He gives off such great energy and always remembers our drink orders even if we don't come back for a few months. Special thanks to him for always making my experience here a good one. The food is really good! They have a fairly large menu, so you definitely have options. The tomahawk for 2 was delicious, but sliced a bit too thin in my opinion. I really have never had a bad experience or meal here....It's always been pretty consistent for me. I recommend making a reservation because it's always so crowded.

Amazing food and great attentive service! We visited Max's Es-ca in Aug 2022 to celebrate a family event. We were absolutely impressed by the quality of food and service! Every dish we tried was delicious and was served exactly as ordered and at the right time. The place is quite expensive but it is certainly worth it! Appetizers: Tuna Tartare - it was so perfect that we finished it in no time and ordered one more. Burrata Mozzarella - soft and delicious. Fried Calamari - good as it's supposed to be. Mesclun Salad - such a great combo of greens, goat cheese, walnuts, and other ingredients that we ordered a second one. Mains: Beef Wellington - few of us ordered it and we all loved it! Soft, tender, perfectly cooked to order beef in a fresh fluffy pastry, complimented with a bed of extra smooth mashed potatoes and some creamy sauce underneath! Yummy! It was just hands down delicious and the best dish of the night! Rack of Lamb - the meat was so tender that it was melting in the mouth! Though no doubt the dish was overall delicious I would however suggest adding a bit more color with some spices or herbs. Also, the breadcrumbs crust had a very subtle oily taste note which it would be better without. Montreal Crusted NY Strip Steak - the steak was juicy and cooked exactly as ordered. My son gave it 5 stars :) Desserts: Pecan pie, Tiramisu, Fried Ice Cream - all great and delicious. We highly recommend this restaurant. It's outstanding!

Great place to dine if you're in Staten Island. Appetizers were varied and plentiful, penne alla vodka was delicious, and the main course was excellent!

Amazing jumbo shrimp cocktail.

Food is always great. The service is top notch and attentive. The ambiance is soothing and enhances the dining experience. You cannot go wrong at Max's Es-Ca.

Came here for dinner and we were seated right away. We sat by the bar and were able to hear some music, in other seats you may not be able to do so. This place was recommended for their pasta so I was excited. My expectations were too high. - once seated you get a bowl of bread with oil and butter -the crab cake was delicious, real crab meat and fresh. This was my favorite part of our meal. - the seafood linguini in white sauce was very bland and not pleasurable, got full of the seafood and took the rest to go. - the Rigatoni was recommended by the waiter and it was oily. thank God the prosciutto which gave a flavor and made it salty. Maybe I'll return to give them another chance and try something different.

We chose to dine on the first floor, which has a chic, elegant vibe with beautiful décor and a relaxing ambiance. There was a special set menu for the day, and the selections did not disappoint. I had the Burrata Salad followed by the Branzino--both were fresh and flavorful, and the portions were huge! I couldn't even make a dent in my main dish. My husband enjoyed the crepes and the seafood linguine, and he was just as impressed. The kids' menu was a cute touch, especially with the clever dish names. When I asked my 10-year-old what she was having and she replied, "I don't care," I was caught off guard--until I looked at the menu and saw that "I Don't Care" was actually the name of the mac and cheese! So creative and fun. Drinks were great too--strong and satisfying for my husband, and I was happy to see a solid mocktail selection for non-drinkers like me. The only downside? There were only two dessert options available. I was hoping for a bit more variety, especially since everything else exceeded expectations. Overall, it's a 10/10 experience, and I absolutely can't wait to go back!

We also had someone joining us later, and she never made us feel rushed or inconvenienced. She stayed patient, continued checking in, and was genuinely kind the entire time. The food was very good. On Sunday, October 18, 2026, I would be driving back to NY from Maryland and would pass through Staten Island so I checked earlier in the week if there were any reservations available. Each seating lasts 2 hours starting at 12:30pm through 7:30pm. I joined the waitlist for 12:30pm and I would receive a notification via text and/or email linking back to the reservation page to try to book a reservation once more on a first come first serve basis if there is a cancellation. Since I didn't get any notifications on Saturday, I decided to check the reservation website and saw that reservations for 2:30pm were available and I secured it. At the time I made the reservation, my credit charge was charged $87 per person, which includes a three-course meal, tax and tip. On the day of the reservation, I arrived to Nonnas of the World Community about 10 minutes before our reservation and found street parking. I went into the intimate 35-seat room and provided my name and was told to go back outside and wait a few minutes. At 2:30pm, we were seated and Nonna Rosa came to our table and greeted us. I immediately felt so warm and welcomed. Also, we made acquaintances with our table neighbors. Our server came and explained the menu. The menu consists of specialities from today's Nonna's and additional items on the house menu. Our reservation includes an appetizer, entree, and dessert. Any wine, beer, coffee, and additional items can be ordered as well and paid with cash or Venmo. Nonna Sabbia from Italy was featured today with an appetizer: Panzanella Salad and two entrees and Nonna Yumi from Japan had an entree: Eggplant Dengaku and was in charge of desserts. Our orders for appetizer, entree, and dessert were taken all at once by our server. I ordered the Burrata, Orecchiette con Cime di Rapa, and Basque cheesecake. My husband ordered the Panzanella Salad, Spezzatino di Manzo, and Nutella Cheesecake. Food came out fairly quickly. A plate of focaccia and salad came out first. The focaccia was very soft and tasty. Then, the appetizers came out and it was very refreshing. I've had burrata a few times, but this was probably the freshest and best burrata I had. Then, Nonna Sabbia brought out our entrees and explained the ingredients. I really enjoyed the Orecchiette con Cime di Rapa; the pasta, sausage, and broccoli rabe was delicious. My husband's Spezzatino di Manzo was not as stewy as he hoped and some parts of his meal were uneven temperatures, but the beef was tender. The Basque cheesecake was smooth and creamy. The portions were a great size. Nonna Rosa and our server came by a few times to check on how we were doing and were both very friendly. I had a wonderful and memorable dining experience at Nonnas of the World Community. I loved the story, the mission, and the whole environment.

I scheduled time for the trip from Philly to Staten Island NY and made the reservation for lunch. You must pay for the prix fixe meal in advance when making the reservation. Lunch starts at 12:30 and they literally make you wait outside until exactly 12:30. Enoteca Maria is a small restaurant, with lots of superhero action figures scattered about. Lunch lasts for 2 hours, and you get to choose an appetizer, entree, and dessert from a limited menu. The meal starts off with a bread service. The bread was just OK. For my appetizer I had the meatballs. They were the delicious juicy meatballs you would expect from a nonna. My girlfriend has a cheese and tomato appetizer that she liked as well. We both could not resist that meat lasagna entree. It's huge! It's enough for two meals. After the first forkful I was in love. The best lasagna I've tasted. The noodles were so light, with the perfect ratios of noodles, cheese, sauce and meat. My only small complaint is that I wanted more meat. I ended up with some meatless bites. But the bites with the meat... Wow... I was so happy I was going to have plenty to take home for the next day. For dessert I had the carrot cake. After such a heavy entree I was glad the cake was a small piece. The cake was moist and provided a nice sweet ending to the meal. Enoteca Maria did not disappoint. If you've seen the movie and have been curious about what the real restaurant is like, make a reservation and find out for yourself. I think you will be happy with that decision. Unfortunately, the service left a great deal to be desired. We noticed that several people who arrived after us, apparently regular customers, received considerably more attention from the staff. Meanwhile, we struggled just to get the prix fixe menu, which was never offered to us until we specifically requested it. To make matters worse, customers who arrived well after us were served their meals around the same time we were. The service was so slow that I eventually had to remind our waiter that we had a show to attend. As a result, we had to take our tiny desserts to go and didn't even have time to enjoy a cup of coffee. The atmosphere was also quite loud, which took away from the overall dining experience. My impression was that if you're a regular, you're treated exceptionally well. If you're not, you're pretty much on your own. What makes this experience particularly disappointing is that the food was truly outstanding. I would have loved to leave a glowing review, but excellent food should be accompanied by attentive and consistent service, regardless of whether someone is a first-time visitor or a longtime customer. Such a shame, because the kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. I just wish the service had lived up to the food.

We looked for a spot. it's extremely hard to find parking in this area.. there is a small lot but seems like it gets filled quickly. We didn't have reservations but it was rather early and didn't think it would be hard to get a table. We walked in and a cute older man was energetically running around waiting tables and making drinks. I think he was the owner. He was funny and super nice. He seated us. There was two super large parties in the restaurant. They were loud and tbh obnoxious! We looked at the menu and we settled on some light options. Fried calamari 19 , a salad( Pera ) Bibb lettuce with Gorgonzola, candied walnuts , poached pears in a balsamic glaze 18 we added salmon and a meatball pie 21. Tiramisu So let me break it down for you. We had hot bread with a beautifully seasoned tomato sauce. It was really amazing! It really set the tone for the meal. The fried calamari was really good. Crunchy, fresh and not dripping in oil. Lightly seasoned and the sauce was perfect with the calamari. The only thing the portion was small for the price! The pizza came out and again this pizza was like a personal pizza again the price is off . I wasn't impressed with the cheese they used. It didn't seem like fresh mozzarella. First impression there was way too much sauce the crust was like a wafer. Super thin! I wasn't impressed. I took a bite and the sauce tasted raw ! Like not cooked. Had an unpleasant taste. I actually got a little nauseated. Moving on we order the Pera salad and wanted to top it with salmon. We expected a full salad and salmon right on top. It might have been our fault for not asking the price for the salmon but that's what we wanted. Anyway our salad comes and literally it's a side salad with a 3 or 4 oz portion of salmon. Super small. We couldn't believe it. We were still hungry so we order a tiramisu. It was light, fresh and just a simple dessert. This place is by far not a date place. It's loud and somewhat chaotic. You def can tell the owner is busting his ass. It's really unfortunate The food is not consistent with taste, flavor and consistency . Which is a shame. The price point of the food is way too expensive for a place on Staten Island! Speaking of price we get the bill and the price for two side salads and a small piece of salmon each 80 F'ING DOLLARS!! The guy literally ripped us off ! We pay the bill as we both shake our heads and walk out and the owner goes " hey make sure you tell 5 friends to come visit" yea sure and get ripped I would have loved to say! Patrons be aware!
