You may bring your own doll into the store to try on wigs and clothes. The staff have been in the doll business for quite some time, so they know their stuff! In addition to the shop, they host regular trunk shows and contests as well-- just sign up for the event invites with your email. Layaway and online ordering are also offered, which are huge pluses. We drove quite a way to get to Fabric Friends and Dolls, and I'd go back in a heartbeat. My new happy place!

It was a bit of a drive, but a beautiful one driving through some picturesque scenery and some farmland. The shop itself is located in a small shopping center, with a 7-11 and other small businesses. Our GPS directed us slightly furhter down the road, overshooting the store location, so please watch out for that if you are driving there with GPS. At first it seemed like the shop staff were watching us closely, but I can't blame them. Their store has some expensive wares, and dolls that are literally works of art. But once my friend took her dolls out of the case, the shop owners were extremely helpful and kind, making conversation with us and telling us what was around the shop. They have pretty much anything you can think of for asian ball-jointed dolls: full sets of the dolls themselves, clothing, wigs, shoes, furniture, accessories, tools for maintenance, everything! And they carry all sorts of popular brands that are big in the BJD community, including Dollzone, Luts, Ringdoll and Soul Doll to name a few. They carry many popular, well-known clothing and wig brands as well, including Dollheart and Leeke. One of the owners told me that occasionally, they host meet-ups in the store with scavenger hunts and contests, so doll enthusiasts were encouraged to attend. If you visit the store and give the owners your e-mail address, they will notify you of upcoming events. It was certainly very tempting being in this store. It reminded me of how great the BJD community is, and the creativity and passion that go into these beautiful dolls. I love small businesses too, so I only wish them the best and want to give them my full support!

Every time i go i end up spending more then i want because their stuff is so cooland their selection is from football to pokemon and everything in between. I traded about half my stack of cards and took back the other half to trade somewhere else upon trading somewhere else I was told the cards were in great shape and was offered around $200. Four different occasions I've gone in paid over market price walk away unhappy but because they have such a big selection it's one of the only places you can go... There's one raw honey in a glass jar that's the only chewy honey I've ever tasted -- what a treat to eat a spoonful of that plain, direct from the jar, mmm! (I didn't just eat it for the taste or texture, though -- I started to eat it because I'd read about the great health benefits of honey!) I really really enjoy the smokiness of the Russian Caravan. Plus, it's fun to research, read and find out about such things as how this rather unique tea flavour came about -- that it was the result of actual campfire smoke flavouring the tea in the first place while travelling across Russia way-back-when that is now encapsulated in this oh-so-tasty tea! Tea is a really great gateway to learning about various cultures and world history! Maybe it's his-tea-ry! Persian Rose Garden tea is splendid -- mellow and rich, smooth, calming (I'm not saying it's medicinally calming, but rather that it's evocative of a certain atmosphere that may make you feel a certain way if you tune into it.) The story of how I came to know about Shafa is pretty funny. A relative was sick and drinking some of the Shafa Blends' teas as a way to recover from a serious illness. I secretly doubted this would be of much benefit. However, to commiserate with him, I had a cup of their turmeric/ginger tea. And, don't you know, I felt better--and wasn't even the ailing person! So, now, I'm a believer. I like their Superior Earl Grey tea; the bergamot component is marvelous. There are other Earl Grey combinations, too. The rooibos is nice. And I can vouch for the fact that their teas keep their intensity long after purchase.

However, I still love the characters and thought I'd pop in to see what's new since I stopped reading. I caught the owner at a moment when he had to care for a personal issue, as he was explaining to a customer that he had to step a way for a bit soon. I told him to feel free to kick me out and close the shop, I'm just there out of curiosity than a need to actually buy anything. I told him I'm a former collector. He insisted I stay and browse the comics and even take my time to read. I could mind the shop for him and just let anyone who comes in while he's away know that he will be back soon. I happily agreed and was a bit taken aback by his trust and kindness. He literally did leave me alone in his shop for a good 20 minutes. His is the sort of shop I preferred when I collected comics. The kind where the books are on the rack and you can flip through them a bit before you buy. This is in contrast to the stores that keep their comics bagged and you need to commit to buying before you know whether you will enjoy the storyline or the art. I don't live in the area, but if I did, I'd be a regular here. A small business definitely worth supporting.

They recently added a whole section of toys for your little ones. Service has always been great and Occasions has been around in the Potomac Community for a long time. With all of the small businesses leaving our community. I am so glad to see that Occasions stands strong. I would say prices are a little bit higher than a box store, but you are paying for a unique and well made gift. That is something everyone would appreciate.
