If you arrive by 10:15 or later, you run the risk of waiting for service. I've only seen De and she is through, but they don't offer extra services like parrafin, sea salt, or deluxe pedicure. They also don't offer waxing, not even eyebrows but strangely offer lash services. Because they are so busy, you have to carefully watch to make sure the details are as you expect. It's easy to get rushed service, unevenly cut nails, and unpainted corners. I will continue to patronize this shop because it is conveniently located to my family's home. Honestly, They do decent nails but the customer service is terrible. My 1 hour wait turned into a two hour wait. I was in excruciating pain while he was trying to tear my nails off (which they all actively do rip nails off and kinda tell you to deal with the pain). He then told me because he couldn't rip the nails off I had to soak my nails off...for the fill in. Idk about you guys but that's literally not what a fill-in is. I can't. **The tech that did my nails THIS time was great and it is unfortunate that this is what happened** They charged me $70 for a acrylic color fill in. Then, tried to justify the price by saying the color I got on the tips (chrome) was the reason. Idk.. but $2 + 8 fingers does not equal $30/35 extra dollars from the $25 & up price that is listed on the wall. There's nothing extra on my nails to explain being charged this amount for a fill in, either. Why does this irritate me? Because the last time I tried them they attempted to blame the reason the technician couldn't do stiletto shaped nails with a clear fake nail was because my fingers "weren't the right shape for it to be straight". When I didn't like how crooked the nails were they proceeded to cut off the nails. Since it was done out of anger, they cut off my natural long nails to the skin. They wanted to tell me that my nails the technician messed up on were "$70 worth of work" .. I came here before and received a phenomenal job from Sunny. I came back and got another person (a lady). I showed her a picture and asked her, can she do it. (the same way I asked Sunny). This place has some good nail techs. Some better than others. I just don't think I'll be going back here. I went a few times but left because there were too many people. The nail salon has continued to be crowded with nail technicians throughout the pandemic and I don't feel safe here. They don't seem to have any air purifiers and cram so many nail techs into the small salon. I wonder if they're even following legal restrictions... Awful experience. Received a pedicure, and as I was getting my nails done, my toes were drying, once my nails were done I noticed my polish had bubbles in it. They offered to fix it so I went back to the pedicure bowl. I sat to let them dry again and the same thing happened. They offered to fix them a third time but only after ignoring me for several minutes, then taking 3 people before me. $65 later and I am disgusted at the quality and my experience. I was feeling lazy and didn't fee like making the trek to my beloved Madelyn Nail Spa so decided to branch out and try something local.....bad, bad move. In less than a week two of my TOES have chipped. I emphasize toes because everyone knows that a pedicure can easily last a month or more. My no-chip manicure also chipped less than a week in and now at about a week and a half in, it's needing to be completely redone. Also, I ended up spending about two hours here because they didn't soak my hands during the pedicure even though I told them when I checked in that I had dip powder on my nails. I opted to get a no-chip, rather than my usual dip powder because the color selection here was really awful compared to Madelyn. Will NOT be back. read more

Been getting my nails done for almost ten years, been getting dip powder (and) manicures for the past three years. Never in all my experience have I ever had a nail break this way: it cracked before I even got home and then doing the most sedentary of activities, it cracked all the way through and then from there went downhill. I literally had to pull the nail from my skin as it was hanging from a thin piece from underneath my nail. VERY painful, and pretty bloody. I called the see about the manager/owner and came in at the time I was told they would be there. Not only was I meant with the run around but (the person who apparently was the owner but told me they weren't the owner) this lady kept telling me it was my mistake and they did nothing wrong. I asked for a refund since it's too damaged to fix right away and they said no refunds - I don't drive and I have to pay money every time I leave my house so seemed a little cynical for them to not only blame me but not even refund me for the service or the finger itself. I asked the "owner" for her information so I could come back when she was there again and she told me she had no information for me because it was my fault and any info I could get would have to be off the website. (There's no information on the website I can't get from google). It's obvious they had their guard up instead of trying to understand what I was even saying; I know their English isn't great. I had stopped going here because customer service seems to be an issue with nails salons in black neighborhoods. I just wanted someone to say "hello ma'am, what services are you having today" instead of "you pick color!" Necessity called and reluctantly in went into my local shop. I was pleasantly surprised to see a tall young man and a lovely young woman at the front who had the customer service in point. I even asked if they had gotten new management to which the young girl replied, yes for about a year. I thought hey, they got it right. I even invited my friend to come with me the next time and told her about how good the customer service was. I don't know what happened to that young man, however the service I received today was horrible. I asked for a simple manicure and pedicure, that proved to be problematic. When I signed my name on the form a different older man asked if I wanted no-chip. I said no just a manicure and pedicure (if you get no-chips, you understand that over time they grind away you natural nail enamel improperly taking off the polish ). My long natural nails were thin and breaking so I needed a break. He says that's fine and someone had even wrote in "manicure" by the pedicure slot so people could check that box instead of the "no-chip box". I checked the boxes of the services I wanted and began my pedicure. After my pedicure the manager tells me I can't get a manicure and will have to get a no-chip or only clear polish. I simply want my hands to match my feet. I asked why they don't do manicures at.... the nail salon nad she said there was a sign up front. I told her that the man at the front told me it was fine, I had checked the box and at this point I'm already halfway into the service. I asked if they could just paint my nails to match my toes this one time and explained that the way they are sand blasting the polish off is damaging to the natural nail. SHE DID NOT CARE she said they don't do cotton and foil to soak off properly and they wont finish my services unless I get clear polish to which they were going to charge full price...of course. I even showed them the sheet with my name that had manicure written in by one of their employees. They admitted that he was new and it was a mistake, but they still weren't going to paint my nails to match my toes without upcharging for the no-chip and curing my nails. She said if she did it for me, then everyone would want a manicure.... I doubt it. It was the no accountability for me. It was the I don't care about grinding your nail bed off for me, the put some clear on pay me then go home for me. I was in tears. I hate it when people treat me like crap and then take my money. I wanted to leave and pay nothing, but I paid for my pedicure and tipped the girl that did my pedicure. I know black women will continue to frequent these shops, I had a black nail tech, but she was at an "other" ran establishment and I didn't like their service either. I hate the way they play us, that was also why I was indignant about not getting another no-chip. If I wanted to simply change my polish, I didn't need to use acetone or be dependent on the salon. At least she was nice enough to give a tip of $5 and her total was $120!!! Once again these nails were okay at best. They do a horrific job on nails, give attitudes to customers who simply have questions, and I was literally stabbed during my most recent visit during a pedicure and wasn't offered so much as an apology. My nails look like have been painted by a 4th grader. I am so disgusted and disappointed. This is my third and final visit. The manager told me they used gel for the gel overlays .. for the gel falsie nails. My nail beds were burning , skin burning & they never used a uv light for this "gel". I went there for over 3 months for fill ins & overlay sets .. I finally switched nail salons after that & was told by three different salons that what was on my nails was not gel nor acrylic. At the new shop I went to It would not come off with pure acetone, *so I don't know what Maximum uses to soak off .. another dangerous chemical that's not acetone*. It wouldn't come off with a drill, they had to stop the drill because the friction was causing my nail bed to burn & the substance maximum put on my nails was scratched but not filed down at all. We soaked my hands for over an hour .. they had to hand file until closing time which I then had to come back the following day & continue. Maximum nails on 35th uses terrible chemicals & lies about it. If you care about your health do not go here. read more

Horrible customer service. While getting my nails done another patron was trying to get her nail tech to fix a mistake and the tech refused to fix it and got up yelling and walked away. They had to get another tech to fix her nail. That is extremely in professional. After already deeply cutting my skin with a nail file, then I noticed my nail tech didn't compare my fingers to make sure each hand had the same length of nail. So of course one thumb was shorter than the other. I ask him to fix it and he says he can't. I ask do they use free forms he says no. I said well I want it fixed. He suggested shortening the other and I told him no. Why would I want to short thumbs when the rest of my fingers are long. So he calls the manager over and she also suggest shortening it I told her no. I asked her about using a free form to make the nail longer. He then says he can fix it for $3. (My card is already charged and I refused to sign the receipt until my nails were done) why would I pay extra for a mistake you made and need to fix? He gets upset and pulls out a free form and begins to fix my nail. I asked "I thought you didn't use those?" He didn't respond. Then he asked me to sign again I told him no when I'm done I will he says "it doesn't matter I already swiped it will go through" I told him it's not about that I and still trying to determine if I received adequate customer service to leave a nice tip. Oh then he shut up. Do you think I left a tip, hell no, and I will never go back there again. I will stick to supporting my black owned businesses like Glitter Nail Salon. I love Maxim nail! My nail techs are top notch and the first to ever grow my short brittle nails. I love their attention to detail and cleanliness. Each time o come they use packaged supplies (perhaps they already know I'll say something ). There are a few techs who did rush jobs and each time I complained and had their mistakes fixed. As you can imagine I never let them do my nails again. Despite that issue my nail and pedi techs are the best ! They know what I expect and always exceed my expectations. read more

Today, I went to Maxim Nails for a regular mani/pedi. I had been to Maxim, based on a friend's experiences there, over 5 years ago. The guy nail tech, at the time, did not seem to have much experience with a regular pedicure...it was just ok. I never went back until today. My sister and niece really like the nail salon, because it's clean, the services they get are good, and the prices are great. I was pleasantly surprised this morning when I walked in. They opened pretty much on time. The tech that took care of me for my pedi (her name is Vy), was so awesome! She cared about my comfort level as she provided the services for a regular pedi. I thought she was to do my manicure, but a gentleman named Tommy took care of that. BTW, I found out that they only do no-chip manicures, no regular manicures (I was informed of that when I walked in, so no surprises there). So I got the no-chip, and was very pleased! Tommy did an amazing job! I will definitely go back again for those 2 techs! I hope my no-chip last more than 2 weeks. read more
