The worst rib steaks I ever bought. I tried to return the rest on July 29. ( I rarely return anything) The CSR refused the return citing first a 7 day return policy and then changing that to a 3 day return policy on meat etc. My understanding from their printed (French only) sheet pinned on the wall, was that acceptance of the return was discretionary. There is very poor customer service at this store and the quality of their beef is extremely low.

Be careful to monitor and avoid anyone touching your food with their hands. Skin contact with food can transmit countless diseases. I had to give only 1 star even though Adonis is my favorite store. Management should investigate and warn this employee before he gets caught by government inspectors!

This IGA - aside from being amazing in all the ways I described in my original review - seems to be setting the standard for how to properly operate under the current conditions so I wanted to share in the hopes of other grocery stores following their lead. When you arrive here, all the doors are closed except for one and when you enter that one there's a portable handwashing station like you'd see outside portopotties at a festival. So everyone is washing their hands as they enter. Then they are given a cart which has just been wiped down by the staff. Staff are also circulating wiping down the handles of fridge doors etc. Cashiers are using sanitizer between every customer and as you leave your cart is immediately wiped down again. This loving attention will save lives in our community and I really really appreciate it.

Huge selection for vegetarians, with lots of exotic vegetables. The meat selection is crazy, with aged steaks in their own fridge. Kangaroo burgers, horse meat, duck... gluten free section as well! Most importantly it was clean and no loud obnoxious Quebecois music playing on the speakers, just simple instrumental jazz which kept me in the store longer and not rushing to get out. Accessibility was a little tricky at first, the fully accessible entrance with automatic doors closes about two hours earlier than the rest of the store. When I arrived the first time, the staff were incredibly kind and helped lift me and my wheelchair over the small step at the front, which I really appreciated. Once inside, the aisles are spacious, well-marked, and easy to navigate with a wheelchair. Anything that was out of reach wasn't an issue at all because the staff were very friendly and happy to help. We made it work with their English and my French, which made the experience more enjoyable. My return visit the next morning was much smoother since it was daylight and I already had a sense of layout. The staff were even friendlier the second time around. The hot food was really good--maybe not as much variety as I'm used to, but still very satisfying. The chicken wings were fresh, hot and well prepared, the potato wedges were well seasoned, large and hot! Checkout was quick and easy, with registers at both the front and back of the store. They also accept all forms of payment, which made things convenient. Overall, a really positive experience, especially because of how helpful and welcoming the staff were.

The Long Version: So I had heard that in 2018 Sobeys became a majority shareholder of the Asian grocery chain Kim Phat. Sobeys is the parent company of IGA. So I wasn't really surprised when I saw signage outside of this IGA that they have a small Kim Phat section in their store. I was curious to see what it looked like, so I had to go in to take a look. The section is small, but clearly labelled. Just look for the red lanterns hanging from the ceiling. They had a good selection of Asian snacks, but nothing too unique that I can't find back home in Ottawa, so I didn't buy anything. The rest of the grocery store is like other IGAs. This location is connected to the mall (Complexe Desjardins) but there's an entrance from the street as well. If you're looking for Asian items, you can find some here, but to be honest, this IGA is not far from Chinatown, so I would just go to Chinatown where there's more selection, but if for whatever reason you don't want to head down to Chinatown, this IGA will have some items.
