Delicious croustinis
Todd P.

What a wonderful little market. We wish we were in Montreal longer so we could take advantage of more of the choices. They stock much of what you need to have a great picnic or meal. They have a nice assortment of meats and cheeses as well as some accompaniments. Their croustinis are delicious by themselves or with cheese or meat. It's a tiny shop so if it's busy, it can be difficult to move and check out.

While visiting Montreal, I had a few items to check off, one of which was a delicious baguette sandwich. There are many bakery and pastry options as one would suspect, but this place for me was the best. An amazing baguette sandwich requires freshly baked baguette that is crunchy on the exterior. The market has the best ones in proximity to my hotel. I chose the ham and swiss cheese version with spicy mustard. I also had them warm it up, which I would recommend if consumed outside the market at one of their wooden tables sitting areas adjacent to the sidewalk. The market also has amazing tasting coffee, which is free with your first visit. I noticed that locals love this place and know the staff by name. The market offers top notch organic one forest maple syrup as well if you are looking to bring it home with you. Of course they offer other items to indulge in over lunch including pastries. When I return to Montreal, this is where I'm getting my baguette sandwich from.

Cute little curated market with a selection of artisan, local, and imported products centred on quality, perhaps at the cost of wallet woes. One of those cute shops that make your eyes dart up and down the whole visit! Fits perfectly in its neighborhood.

First it's hard to find a market in the area of old Montreal. Glad we found this lovely shop. Nice selection of cheeses, baguettes and prepared foods. Great variety in a small clean market

Artisan prepared and retail food at its best. Service was excellent! They took the time to recommend choice artisan charcuterie foods.

Review Highlights - Le Beau Marché

“Had a small selection of fruits, vegetables, drinks, snacks but the attraction was the small European style bakery inside.”

The store itself is large and well stocked. It was a little hard for me to judge the pricing at…read morefirst since it's in Canadian dollars and I'm more used to USD, but overall, everything seemed reasonable. The location took a bit of getting used to since it's in more of a residential neighborhood and I'm staying in the city center, but it got easier to find after the first visit. Accessibility was a little tricky at first, the fully accessible entrance with automatic doors closes about two hours earlier than the rest of the store. When I arrived the first time, the staff were incredibly kind and helped lift me and my wheelchair over the small step at the front, which I really appreciated. Once inside, the aisles are spacious, well-marked, and easy to navigate with a wheelchair. Anything that was out of reach wasn't an issue at all because the staff were very friendly and happy to help. We made it work with their English and my French, which made the experience more enjoyable. My return visit the next morning was much smoother since it was daylight and I already had a sense of layout. The staff were even friendlier the second time around. The hot food was really good--maybe not as much variety as I'm used to, but still very satisfying. The chicken wings were fresh, hot and well prepared, the potato wedges were well seasoned, large and hot! Checkout was quick and easy, with registers at both the front and back of the store. They also accept all forms of payment, which made things convenient. Overall, a really positive experience, especially because of how helpful and welcoming the staff were.
