Requested an alternator be put in my vehicle to which they called back and asked why and said it looked like a battery needed to be replaced, they charged me 291$ for a 120$ autozone battery. To which the problem was still not solved and I still need an alternator, had to tow my car from fort O to collegedale to my old trustworthy mechanic because obviously these folks ain't it. read more

I rarely get mad. It takes a lot to make me livid. But our last experience with Maxi was the exception. We had the clutch go out on my BMW and took it over to Maxi in Ft Oglethorpe. They had it for a couple weeks. It sat there a week before they looked at it.  They're busy, it's a foreign car... ok. Not mad about that. Eventually at the beginning of the week they called my husband and said it would be $580 to fix it. Then a day or so later they said it ran in the air but once it was on the ground it didn't engage so they needed a little more time. Ok, no problem. Saturday, we got the call to pick it up and my husband walked in and they said it's $2800. My husband corrected them... no you said $580. They kept insisting $2800. It needed some other really expensive part which they installed without our permission. NO ONE called to tell us it needed $2200 more work. They ended up giving him a 10% discount after he fussed. But big woo. Who cares? It's the principle of the thing. Never in my life have I had an auto shop do thousands of dollars worth of work without getting my ok on it. What if we hadn't had the money for that? A lot of people wouldn't. The car would sit there, and they'd be charging you by the day for storing it, and in the end they'd have gotten the automobile. We sent a letter within a week telling them how disappointed we were and how unethical this was, asking for some form of equitable refund and they never replied. It reeks of unethical to me.  You just don't do that to people. I won't be going back. I don't care how many years they've been fixing my cars. Bad move, Maxi! read more

Great communication. Called to let me know what needed work and explained the reasoning behind it, ready with quotes for each possible fix. My car was making an awful noise and I pulled into their lot to see if they could assist me. They were just so nice and put my mind at ease that they should be able to help me. It was only a dust cover, but the staff put it back on and eased my concerns that a major mechanical event had happened. They were just absolutely amazing and friendly throughtout the entire experience. Great , friendly staff that helped me and my husband get back on the road quickly and easily!!! I've been using Maxi for all my automotive needs & mods for over 15 years. Allen & Nick at the Fort Oglethorpe shop are top-notch, great bunch of guys! Excellent customer service, they explain what needs to be done in a language that non mechanics can comprehend. They don't try to up sell you or push you into something you don't need. Last week, I had an aftermarket cat back exhaust installed. Showed up with the part & had it installed & out the door in 1 hour. Today, I had an aftermarket lift kit & steering stabilizer installed on my Jeep Gladiator Rubicon. Dropped off at 8am done by 1130am. Price was almost $250 less than a competitor in Chattanooga. Was passing through Ft O on my way with my elderly mother to Erlanger for pre-op. My car started running hot and I pulled in Maxi. I was quite a ways from home and nervous about having car trouble so far from home and worried that my mother would miss a very important appointment. John listened and I know he could sense my nervousness and urgency and took a look and replaced a thermostat and had us on our way to her appt. He was Heaven sent. Very professional and knowledgeable and compassionate at the same time. If I were closer I would give them my business on a regular basis. read more

We've always had fair dealings with this mechanic. My mother in law recommended them when I moved to town over ten years ago and have never felt taken advantage of or as if my car was mistreated. Nothing new ever broke after taking it to them, and that's more than I can say for many places I've taken my car(s) over the years. I wouldn't call them overly cordial, but I'll take gruff or laconic mechanics who take care of my car over people who are nice and can't get the work done right. They've never been rude, mind.
