Firstly, poor customer service as my friend and I were waiting for our Berrylicious pancakes, for quite some time. The strawberries tasted stale and the pancakes weren't warm. I ordered the 80's milkshake, expecting it to be served in a dine-in coffee cup or such, however I received the milkshake in a take-away cup, not properly filled and no proper explanation as to why the milkshake was not served as a dine-in drink, after asking the staff about the poor drink appeal. I expect better next time, please. If you do not have enough dine-in cups for specific drinks, stock up on extras. It ruins the atmosphere and enjoyment of the place. read more

Located near to Parramatta train station and bus interchanges is another location for Max Brenner. Had been wanting to try the 80's milkshake since my last visit and here I came for it. Wasn't too crowded and got myself a seat quickly after ordering my dessert. While ordering, I was told that I could only swipe my credit card with a minimum of $10. Hence I added another chocolate soufflé to try. Waited for 20 minutes before my items arrived even though they were at the counter for a good 5-7 minutes. The servers were either giving others their orders first or cleaning up tables. My milkshake which came with a scoop of ice cream was overflowing as the ice cream was melting. I like the milkshake but might have to try out the original chocolate shake the next round. The soufflé was actually like a lava cake. Was soft in terms of texture but wasn't too sweet for my liking. Normally I tend to get white chocolate related items but this is definitely a good dessert to try. Overall, even though I was given my food late (minus a star), I still like what I ordered. The floor was a little sticky too. Maybe in terms of tranquility inside the store, I would probably choose the castle hill one. read more

As for the dessert itself I wasn't a fan of the crunchy waffle balls and unfortunately had trouble picking them off. The other one we tried was the chocolate cookie ice-cream sandwich. The cookie was really hard which made it difficult to eat as a sandwich. Nothing like the soft cookie sandwiches at Diddy Reise in LA where you can mix and match your cookie flavours and ice-cream flavours for only $1.50!! But back to Max Brenner's version. Having spent a lot of time in Parramatta, it's inevitable that I ended up in Max Brenner's more than once. One word; delicious. *Everything* is delicious. The waitstaff are fun (and, inexplicably good looking!) and helpful, even if the service is a little slow. Anything you order will come dripping in chocolate. How to eat this chocolate, you ask? You may, like me, try to lick it straight off the plate like an animal in your desperation to get to it... Don't do that. It's unbecoming. Ask for a 'lickety stick'! I know, I know, it sounds dirty. The waitstaff know it sounds dirty, and will not let you get out of saying it. You're just going to have to bite the bullet, and ask for one, if you want to eat like a civilised person. I stopped by the Parramatta location with my wife on a rainy Saturday evening for some hot chocolate to bring into the movies with us. The location was bustling, the line was long, but we were willing to wait and miss the previews so that I could get my hot chocolate fix. I don't know if the recipe for their Mexican Spicy hot chocolate varies from location to location, but this location's sucked ass. For a chocolate place, you would think this one thing would be hard to mess up. The drink was very 'meh' and tasted very watered down. Went there a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon, the service was slow. While we were waiting in line, the manager decided to tell us to move the line in a different direction, which meant the line ended up being jammed between a table of customers and a bench of customers. As I stood in the narrow line, the customers at the bench moved her seat and proceeded to stamp in on my foot. Great layout of the store Max Brenner for making the ordering process difficult. Went to order my usual Dark Italian, and was told sorry they rang out of the cream to make thick hot chocolates. Seriously you are a hot chocolate speciality and you manage to run out of think hot chocolates halfway through the day??? Decided to order a classic instead, somehow your barrister still managed to make it as weak as possible. Consistency isn't a virtue at Max Brenner's. We visited on Sunday morning around 10:30 and it was relatively quiet but we still had to wait 15 minutes for our coffees to be made and delivered. The time they took to make our drinks did not help get the order right the drinks were right however they mixed the sizes up. The cappuccino tasted like warm milk not even a hint of coffee. A Saturday night visit after dinner for a little bit of dessert. We shared a white chocolate cheesecake here- delicious! Wife got a hot chocolate and I got a cappuccino - not bad, would give the food a 4/5. However the service staff wasn't really friendly or helpful, and location also felt a bit tired and needing renovations which is why the lower rating. read more

On a scale of 1 to 10, how popular is this place? Hands down a 10. Is it any good? Personally, it's just OK. Gloria Jeans is way better. Yes, it is known for its extensive list of chocolates ranging from hot choco to chocolate pancakes. Is it worth it? Possibly. If you're a chocolate fanatic slash chocoholic. Price? Decent enough which is good. My two cents? Hot chocolate = not that great. I'd rather go home and make myself a hot milo chocolate than waste my money on theirs. It doesn't taste that good and it doesn't look appealing either. Why so popular? There are only a few Max Brenner places here in Sydney. I even invited my cousins from America to try it out and they agree with me that the food/drinks there weren't that great and that my mom's hot choco is better. The place itself is nice but over crowded. As I said, it is really popular. Especially at night time! It's located at Westpoint shopping centre, at the rooftop. So parking wise, it's easy (3hrs parking is free). There are other coffee shops that you can try out if the place gets too full. Service? Not so great to be honest. They forgot my hot choco and my friends brownies. I'm guessing due to it being a busy place and all so I can forgive them for that. But if you are a chocolate lover then by all means go :) You'll probably enjoy it more than me and appreciate their menu as well. read more

Have been here a couple of times for a hot chocolate with the hope that it would improve. It never did. Their hot chocolate cups are tiny and the drink is weak. The "Mexican hot chocolate" should be removed from the menu. Avoid this place. Go elsewhere for a hot chocolate. read more
