Took a few minutes to find someone to help us but once they came, quickly got us settled in with a lane and shoes. Bowling seemed a bit pricey but I think it's because weekends don't have any discounts. There were several discounts advertised (Tues/thurs $2.22 for bowling, shoes, etc; wed ladies bowl free; kids get 2 free games per day in the summer) which sound like a good deal! We paid $30 for 1 hour and $4.25 each for shoes. Has bumpers and "slides" for the kids to bowl. Arcade has a decent amount of games, didn't try the bar or laser tag but seemed like it could be fun. When you have nothing to do in the area there is at least something for most to do here. For the most part yes it's a bowling alley but like most alleys there is some kind of food area to eat at as well as a bar. You can't have a bowling alley without a small game room for your kids to run around in or to bring your friends for a few games of air hockey. The only non bowling alley non conventional compliment to this business would be that there is a laser tag arena attached to it. Tuesdays and Thursdays are usually a little busier during the week since I suspect there is some kind of discount during those two nights. On weekends which I have gotten to view one time they turn down the regular lights and switch on the black lights so everything white or florescent can light up in a stellar fashion. The parking lot is a little dark on the main side. I do not know why they never fix it or turn the lights on but if you are lucky you can park on the side entrance where the lighting is better there. The interior for most part is pretty clean except when it comes to the restroom especially at the bar. The arcade is pretty small but just enough to have a few games for most of the ages. The only thing that you will not find here is a pinball machine which would be nice. The carpeting and up keep is pretty clean and the carpet looking fresh. ] The wifi here is free but do not expect blazing speeds. The bar, not the happiest or most helpful bartenders I have encountered it's like you have to be in the lower 20's to get any kind of interactive service but it's ok, we're here to drink aren't we? There is a projected screen off to the side where you can view many music videos while sitting at your cafe style table/booth combo. Towards the back side there are a couple of pool tables as well. The easiest way I can explain to find this place is to drive down 9th street from Twin City Highway and you should be able to catch glimpse of the building especially at night. read more

As far as bowling goes, it's fine. The guys at the shoe counter are nice and patient enough. There were lanes readily available on a Friday night. The machine that computes the scores messed up a couple times but it was easy enough to fix with some manual tinkering. I do NOT, however, recommend eating here. My expectations for the food were already low, considering it's a bowling alley, we obviously weren't going to get five star dining... however, it was the SERVICE that was awful. It took nearly 40 minutes for our NACHOS to be delivered to the table. Yep, Nachos. ‍ I was confused too. We checked on the order twice in that time, and my husband finally picked it up himself at the server station. No telling how long it sat there. If you want to go bowl, or play laser tag, or play arcade games in an ok bowling alley, this is your place. Definitely eat before you go, though. read more

Total rip-off! They won't refund you even an hour before they close the lanes because they don't give refunds at the counter but you can get a refund anywhere else in the bowling alley! I only want what's fair and the fact that I knew my kids wouldn't be able to finish a second game and I asked nicely to just give me a refund for the second game the girl and the "manager" both said they don't do that and since they're privately owned they can say all sales are final but if I had a issue with food then yea I can get a refund or a broken game but not when it comes to bowling?! Isn't that what y'all do is bowling?! I'd rather drive to Beaumont or just take my money out and set it on fire than to return to this place! The bowling area has been busy every time I've been here but it is a little outdated. The arcade area could use a few more games and they took away the best part of playing in an arcade, winning tickets! Here you pay for a card the has your tokens loaded on it and it also stores your tickets. The few times I have been there is never an attendant in the arcade area and only one person working at the bowling counter, granted it was the middle of the week. The best part about this place is the have bingo games seven days a week and its only 5.00 to play! read more

Pretty fun place...it is dirty, though, but what do you expect from a bowling alley...the bar area is a blast...okay it's not that great, but if you're tipsy it seems like it...it offers pool, shuffle board, and that table soccer game which always seems easier than it actually is...anyway the drinks are priced fairly and they have great specials...service is quick too!...although I didn't care for the arcade, I thought there were plenty of games to choose from...didn't get a chance to bowl, but did get prices...I'm not sure the going rate for a game of bowling, but they seemed high...thanks, Obama...good thing there were other things to amuse me...I'll be returning here. read more

I WISH I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE A ZERO. We couldn't even bowl one game because it kept having problems and they only had ONE PERSON WORKING IN THE BACK. WHY WOULD YOU HAVE $2 TUESDAYS AND HAVE ONE PERSON WORK IN THE BACK. SECOND, THEY LOST ONE OF OUR BALLS. This place has poor maintenance and service. The security was cool, very family-friendly! we loved the disco lights that come on at 10p.m til 2 a.m. closing time. the music was adult and kid friendly. my 4yr old danced the entire night. they have a smoking deck with sitting and the drink i had from bar which was an hurricane was awesome! we are making this our family go-to place! read more

Mark McDonald, one of the managers of this business, is very unprofessional! If I could give this place no stars I would. I visited Max Bowl today with a group of 12 people. We arrived and ordered several different options off of the menu while we waited for lanes. It took about an hour for the food to come out, which wasn't the problem. My wife's food never came out, the young girl at the counter was not apologetic about forgetting to put in half of her order & demanded she pay for it so she put the money on the counter. Before the food came out a manager approached our table telling us we needed to leave the establishment for throwing money at his employee. Our group consisted of all same sex couples and our kids, I feel we were discriminated against for our life choices. Mr. McDonald never asked for our side of the story prior to asking us to leave. I proceeded to ask him for the General Managers business card, which he refused to give me. I left my name and number, but doubt I will receive a call. I have been in the customer service hospitality industry for over 10 years, this is not how you run a business- this is how you run a business into the ground. On Sunday Nights, Max Bowl advertises that it will be open until 10pm. So my 3 friends and I pull up to the bowling alley at 8:55pm on Sunday (6/17/18), a full hour and some change before closing, only for the employee at the front desk to say "Sorry, we're closing early tonight, we don't have enough people to stay open, WHILE THERE ARE AT LEASE 7 LANES WITH CUSTOMERS PLAYING IN THEM. Because this bowling alley decided that they were going to close at 9pm instead of their advertised 10pm, this caused me and my group of 3 other friends to have to return home after driving 30 minutes to get to that alley. For someone who has been a loyal patron for years this is a slap in the face to my worth as a customer. I am severely upset and disappointed at the employees of Max Bowl. Many people were turned away from the desk, not just my group. If they are complaining about not having enough business, maybe they shouldn't close an hour before the advertised time, or turn away paying customers, just a suggestion. They say open and we drove from Orange yesterday to bowl with our family and they turned us around when we walked to the counter because the bowling leagues take up every lane (even though we saw 2 open lanes) Talk about a very sad 4 and 2 year old when we told them we couldn't bowl today like we planned. My daughter'sbirthday party was booked at Max Bowl in Port Arthur today and it turned out to be a total disaster :( It was pouring rain outside = equipment screwed up = kiddos couldn't bowl There's a manager @Max Bowl in Port Arthur named Shelly who made a bad situation worse. She needs to be fired. Seriously. I had super frustrated family & friends and a dozen VERY disappointed kiddos who couldn't bowl...and a manager who apparently didn't care enough to come speak to us or even try to help. Britini (our party hostess) is AWESOME. She did more than normal party stuff, she constantly went back & forth to Manager 'Shelly' to help us salvage a birthday party going quickly down the drain. She even came back with tears in her eyes because she had to be the bearer of bad news & tell us the manager is too busy to help us and thinks that charging me for the party & sending a few cards to play in the arcade makes everything better. I keep thinking to myself - I'm not paying 200.00 for a party we can't have! Briana got upset when her friends were not able to bowl and she saw them totally BORED. She cried and said "This is the worst birthday party ever" now I'm crushed. Thankfully, Manager Nate walks in for his shift (which was a complete nightmare the way SHELLY left it - our party wasn't the only one screwed up) He spoke with me, apologized many times and assured me that he would make it right quickly. He most certainly did. The kids were able to go play laser tag, and get some time in the arcade with lots of cards to play. I didn't pay for the party, only pizza & drinks. Deposit was refunded :) We were given lots of free bowling coupons for future visits. And then he made my daughter smile when he gave her a big stuffed animal & said "happy birthday" THAT'S how a manager handles things. THAT'S the kind of quick response you need to show customers they matter! Maybe Shelly should find a job in a warehouse somewhere that doesn't involve interaction with customers or too many co-workers. While they have spent some money in cosmetic appearance for the bar area, the bowling equipment continues to be problematic for league and open bowlers alike. It is not unusual for a league to last much longer than expected because of the frequent breakdowns of the 60 year old pin setters. read more

This place is pretty good but the only thing that suck about it was that on 7/25/17 I went at 9:30 we call and they said they had no lane available but when we went there there was 5 line available then we we try to but 3 games they only said we can have 2 because they said it will close but we finish at 10:30 and they close at 11 and we only have 3 people read more

For league bowlers, 1 star. Open play, where you don't care about scorekeeping functionality or accuracy, 3-4 stars. As a league bowler, it is tiresome to not have the intercom or scorekeeping keyboards working, and to have to walk to the desk for assistance. This has gone on over a year now, and after this year our 20+ team league will most likely leave unless improvements are made. The status quo is unacceptable, but the management takes league bowlers for granted. read more
