I've been here a few times with the boyfriend's family whenever we're in town and they decide they wanted to do some bowling. The neighborhood doesn't look all that safe, but we usually go late at night and never experienced any issues. Initially, this was a great place to bowl. The lanes were great,the staff were nice, the beers were cheap, and the food was alright (tater tots were great). They had great lanes where it automatically raises and lowers the bumpers as you wish. Sucks there's a few to use the bumpers though. Overall, this place was cheap, which was their competitive advantage over the more new Crossroads. However, now that Star raised their prices and gone away with their late night promotions, they've lost it a bit. The staff are the same, but they seem a lot more strict and not as friendly as before. Before, this was the place to go without any consideration. Now, we'll consider our options a bit more. read more

Haven't been here in many years. We've been going to the bowling alley in the next town but it got way too ghetto so we decided to give this place a try again. Had a blast!!!! They have a guy that walks around and checks on everyone. Even finds ways to strike up friendly competitions between lanes. The food isn't the best but it is edible. We will definitely be back. Went on Valentine's day for a bestie date with my friend and our young daughters. There was a promotion online that said $2 bowling on Valentine's day. When we got there they said that they had new owners and we're trying to get all of those promotions offline. So, with our kids in tow we couldn't just leave, they make children under 3 pay a full cover!!! Insane. read more

the only gas odor in the alley would be your stinky breathe. Also the city tournament is no longer held at Star because the bowlers from star always win the damn thing. I guess it would be considered a handicap for the other poor bowlers. sad so sad . As far as safety goes more crime is committed in Pt. Arthur and surrounding areas such as Nederland than Beaumont and I guess if your a wimpy person and scared of walking outside then yes stay away from star and as far as that goes just don't go outside , lock yourself indoors and never come out. star is great it is very affordable and go to bowl because I have bowled at every alley from a hundred mile radius and they all have staff that are rude. I can't believe how what I just witnessed.. my family and I just left this place. When I walked in the lady was rude while we were getting a lane. No I've only been there 3 times the first time I ask the ladies name and she told me dj she had a bright smile on her face as I ordered my daughter's food great service No complaints. The second time my husband and I decided to go and the service was so horrible very rude. The 3rd was today and I refuse to come back as I notice Miss DJ I spoke and I seen that smile the food was great once again after finishing up I seen two ladies standing in front which I noticed one was one of the ladies from the little snack bar .. I heard the two ladies say there shouldn't be black people working here at all the other lady that worked stated oh don't worry I told them to let her go so she is gone that black b**** isgone .
