I don't very often write reviews, but I had to write one today because the team at Max & Erma's in Erie was absolutely AMAZING yesterday and completely saved my day!! I cannot thank them enough!! I had placed an online order through DoorDash for 28 people to be picked up on a Monday morning. I paid for my order and was given a pick-up window of 11:35-11:45 AM. On my way to pick up the order on Monday morning...at 11 AM...DoorDash sent me a text cancelling my order...stating the restaurant was unable to fulfill the order. I immediately called the restaurant and showed up around 11:20 (which was to be for the 11:35 pick-up). The restaurant had never even received the order to make the decision whether or not the restaurant was able to fulfill it!! SHANE and NINA at the Erie location WERE AMAZING!!! They led their team and fulfilled my complete order in 30 minutes--AND helped me carry it to my car!! They truly saved my day...and lunch for 28 people who were waiting!!! If I could give them 10 stars on a 5-star scale, I would!! Thank you all!! read more

Visited on 9/23/26 around 6:30 pm. Wanted to do 'local' and it was really close to hotel. We sat at the bar as service there we find is always better anywhere we go. There was 1 Other patron there. Waited about 4 minutes until 'Nina' came out and took drink order--glass of wine and iced tea. Both arrived in time, but had to return my wine glass as it was not clean. We ordered 2 different salads--1 the salmon, the other southern fried chicken salad. The salmon was overcooked but edible apparently. Both were good sized salads. Wanting another glass of wine, waited for Nina to appear--she was mostly in the back the whole time we were there doing....? The place seems to a brisk take-away business and maybe that's what Nina was working on.... read more

First, if you're delivering to a hotel perhaps consider the hospitality of including napkins or plastic ware. Second, while the order was very quick to be delivered, the food was quite disappointing. The pulled pork sandwich was definitely sitting out all day and packed so tight it was almost patty-like. The Cubano sandwich was small and there were like 10 French fries. The tater tots were ok. No effort to include ketchup or any option while ordering to indicate that I should ask for condiments. Overall disappointed but also probably never coming here again so it's not like they lost a good customer, just a traveler who would have liked to enjoy a nice meal on the road. read more

To be fair it's Black Friday today and it was busy.... The wait times were honestly not bad at all, it moved quickly and staff were friendly. As far as food, we ordered nachos as an appetizer and it was clear they had sat out for a long time and had been forgotten about, and were then popped back into the oven with the lettuce and guac still on. The chips were stale and the guac was hot, and overall it was not good. For my meal I had the buffalo chicken sandwich that was fine, but I've had much better from here in the past, and this was unimpressive. My fries, similar to the chicken, were obviously left out and refried which made them very oily, soggy, and gray. The cookies were fresh from the oven and were delicious which nice. To top is all off we were given the wrong bill. However, the waitress was very attentive, very nice, and she noticed how bad the fries looked after our meal and apologized for the kitchen. My daughter and I were in the Erie area over the weekend and had dinner here on a Saturday night. The locations near our home area have all closed over the past handful of years so I was surprised to see one up there. I typically don't hit too many chain restaurants but it made sense for us with my daughter. Always enjoyed the food, for sure. We both had great meals, service was perfect, and everything was clean. Staff were also very friendly. I believe our servers name was Mark. He was super friendly and efficient. No complaints at all! read more

We were excited to try somewhere new. But highly disappointed. Not sure if they were short staffed or what was going on. Took 5 minutes for anyone to approach us. 10 for anyone to ask us what we would like to drink which wasn't even our waitress. Our drinks came out wrong. They have a huge selection, so even picky people can find something they like. Their French onion soup is absolutely delicious!! I've always had good service, waitresses check in on you and make sure your beverage are full. They have a very comfortable environment, especially if you get seated by the fireplace. We visited this place on a whim while on vacation purely based on Yelp reviews. The burgers are amazing, and the $12.99 deal cannot be beat! Our kiddos were begging to come back before we left Erie, but then we introduced them to Golden Corral (which we do not have in Buffalo, NY), and it was all over. Our waitress was so sweet and talkative, even though we came in fairly late. It was an excellent experience, and we'll be sure to visit again! read more

I came into this restaurant with an open mind, but I remembered coming years ago and not having a good experience. And let me tell you, it was everything I remembered but worse. The first thing I did when we got there was going into the bathroom. It was extremely unclean, out of order urinal, and a clogged toilet. I quickly got out of there before I died of the fumes. My father tried ordering a beer but any option he asked her for she said she didn't have it due to the "holes in the lines" which I suspected was due to rats. He finally asked what do they have and for some reason she kept avoiding the question. Next we got mozzarella bites and nachos. First the mozzarella bites had hair in them, I asked my mother what it was and she said it was just lint, which is no better. The plate of unseasoned, soggy nachos had to have weighed 10 pounds. The reason I say soggy is because it had one small pump of queso as what appeared to be an attempt at flavor even though the plate kind of looked like the clogged toilet I mentioned earlier. Now back to the waitress. She did not refill the waters until we basically were leaving. And when she did refill the waters she kept flicking the water on her hand onto my leg which I did not enjoy. And she also kept touching my father's wrist for no apparent reason. And I was gonna let this place off the hook until the waitress commented on my attire. I was wearing shorts in cold weather and she made a comment along the lines of "Aren't you cold!!!" Which I find highly offensive. We've been coming here for years when we visit relatives from Erie. First time I've walked away disappointed. Six of us came out. I got the 3 course for $12.99 special. Tortilla soup, burger and a cookie. The soup was great as always. Top notch. On the surface, the burger looked good. Great sear and char. But as they say, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. The lettuce was fresh, the tomato was not ripe, a pale red color that screams hot house and picked too soon. The burger patty itself wasn't cooked right. I ordered medium and it was rare. The same issue with my wife's and daughters burger. I don't like sending food back for obvious reasons. An angry cook can pretty much do what they want. Id rather not chance it. As a bonus, the meat was flavorless. I mean it was a blank tapestry. The only flavor came from the red onion and ketchup. With prices skyrocketing everywhere, customers deserve better. This KFC looked more like a meth house one sees on the news. Absolutely FILTHY!!! The bathroom was disgusting, flour and filth all over the floor. People would come in, sit without ordering then a few minutes go to the register to get "something" then leave. The chicken had no batter and was burned. They were out of cups to get a drink with. Wow! The food here was so so so good! We where seated by a very kind gentleman after a short wait. Started with a fun mock tail the honeysuckle. If you've ever had the apple charged lemonade at Panera kinda a similar taste. Got the Garlic Mot Stick Skewers for an App. Honestly they where pretty meh but the presentation was super cool so I can forgive a meh flavor. They where 100# still pretty tasty Just nothing wow. Got the Pizza burger as my main and WOW what a burger! It was so juicy and the flavors blended super well! The pickles on the side where sooooo good! Lastly I tried a cookie that came with someone else's meal. It was a chocolate chunk cookie and was also pretty delicious. The menu did not provide the same variety I remember from a few years back. The burger was okay, the fries were not. Most of the fries seemed soggy and old. My wife and I drove here from Buffalo and all I was looking for was a burger and fries but what we found was one of our favorite places of all time. The first night we did takeout, I got the Irish Boss burger, my wife got the Pittsburgh salad, we retreated to our hotel room and enjoyed some of the best food we've ever had. We walked in today and waited at least 10 min for a hostess to seat us. There were 4 employees in the dining room who very clearly saw us and didn't bother to acknowledge us, let alone seat us. Max & Erma's reminds me a bit of Applebee's? We came here for a late dinner last week. The guac in our guac & chips tasted like it was store-bought. Not a fan. My burger with a sunny side up egg was just a little more cooked than I wanted it to be. But I liked that you get unlimited fries with your burger. Stopped here for lunch while visiting Splash Lagoon. We where seated promptly when we entered. Ordered the tortilla soup to start which was amazing. It had a little spice to it but nothing to much and was on the creamy side. Wife ordered the chicken fajita quesadilla which was pretty big and tasty. It was served with guacamole, salsa, and sour cream on the side. I ordered the stacked to the max club which I really enjoyed. It was served with endless fries. Kids meals are under $6 a piece and our server was super friendly. I will definitely return when I'm in town. read more

We were the kind of tired you get from being at the beach all day and had just been on a Pirate ship ride that left the kids decidedly underwhelmed. So, when thinking about a dinner option on a Sunday evening in Erie, we wanted a sure thing. Between all the chains near our hotel, we chose Max & Erma's basically on the flip of a coin. It did NOT disappoint. I ordered the cola burger (something I never thought I'd order, but curiosity got the better of me), the kids had grilled cheese and daddio enjoyed a club sandwich. Our server Hunter was super fast and very kind, and the food was delicious! The morale of the story is, don't overlook Max & Erma's just because it isn't a fancy joint. My family and I went to dinner there and were told it would be a 15 min wait. We had 6 adults and a toddler. It was 4:45 on a Tuesday and it wasn't busy, but they said they only had 1 server. We sat in the waiting area and didn't mind waiting until we about 5 groups of 2 people come in and all get seated without waiting. After 15 minutes, we asked what was going on, and they gave the same explanation of only having 1 server. (So I can only assume if we were ever actually seated the wait for our food would have been really long since, you know, they only had 1 server, and there were now 5 couples that came after us and seated before us that would get to order first.) Amazing food & great service! So glad we decided to try out Max & Erma's for dinner. It was hands down the best food we've had out in a long time! We were so impressed with the quality of the food. The Cajun pasta with chicken was cooked & seasoned to perfection - As well as the Swiss & mushroom burger, tortilla soup & smothered chicken. We were recently disappointed in the meal we had on 2/24/24. we had soup and sandwiches. The sandwiches were good but the French Onion Soup was the awful. It tasted like dishwater. The server asked to replace it but I declined. She said she was going to remove it from the bill but did not. I was disappointed as I have had this soup before it has been excellent. This used to be one of my favorite quick done spots when I lived in Erie. Had a chance to stop in today after being gone for 6 years and they didn't miss a beat. I ordered off off the seasonal menu - shrimp pineapple with coke slaw. I did add sour cream. No ice coffee but they brought me a glass of ice which was perfect. Our waitress was quick attentive and a real professional - super friendly great service. Carrie from Durham NC was her name - and she was a excellent. Wife had make your own burger and it looked awesome. Wish we had one of these in our home state. We will definitely stop in again.
