This auto shop is seriously so honest and truthful. They live up to their motto and name. I called…read morethem to get a quote about break pad replacements because another auto shop was quoting me $900. The first auto shop was telling me that my breaks were at 2/32 of an inch remaining and that I needed to promptly replace my front break pads, drums, and rear. The first auto shop told me that the gears were now metal on metal. For context, I left my car idle for 2 weeks and every time I would break there was a low murmur. My car only has 70K miles on it. The Straight Up mechanic said I probably do not need my rear break pads replaced. The Straight Up mechanic assured me over the phone that this can be explained by rust build-up and what I was hearing was perfectly normal, but he would need to inspect it to see what I would actually need to get done. When I brought in my car, the mechanic inspected my bread pads front and rear. He promptly told me I did not need any replacements and that the first auto shop was lying about what work my car needed done. Straight Up did not charge me anything at all, even for checking my break pads. I highly recommend this place to anyone because they are honest and will not take advantage of you. If I ever need my car serviced, I will for sure bring my car back here.

The owner Joe inspected my daughter's car with heat not working. After an inspection it was determined the water pump was going out and thankfully did not drop all the fluid on the road. I talked to Joe to wrap up everything and I found him to be ethical and trusted. A rarity these days for mechanics. He let the car stay an extra day at his shop with a winter storm. I appreciated that they were transparent with their timeframe and communicated that to me. I also liked how nice the woman in their waiting room was. She gave me a tour of the facilities and then said that I could use the shuttle should I need to go anywhere. I was also pleasantly surprised to find they offer a free shuttle service to whatever location (within reason) you need to go. This is fantastic for future use since I now know I can drop my car off before work and still have a ride to work. I had Robert drop me off at the downtown mall while I waited. I was able to work while I waited in the comfort of a coffee shop. Regarding the service itself; JW called me up to let me know some of the issues with my car (to be expected; she's as old as time) and gave me fair price points on the repairs. When I asked his opinion on which route to go he was honest in what he would do and in my case, suggested a patch instead of an extensive and expensive repair. Being on a budget, I really appreciated his input. In the end I felt that I received fair service and helpful advice on my car. I would definitely recommend these guys. If possible, make an appointment ahead of time and be flexible with wait time. Also, if you're a first time customer they offer a free inspection. Just make sure to print out the coupon beforehand.
