The manager, Joe Shifflett, couldn't have been kinder or more understanding. After his mechanic diagnosed the problem, he told us the engine had seized up, couldn't be fixed, and at 128,000 miles, it just wasn't worth it to install a new engine. The car needed to be junked. We appreciated his honesty. But now we were stuck. So Joe and his colleague sprang into action and recommended a tow company, which hauled our car away to the junkyard. And they helped find us a car rental company, calling around until they found us an agency. Joe even drove us to the rental agency! He didn't have to do that, yet he went out of his way to help us. Everyone at this place was so kind and sympathetic. Couldn't have been nicer. Regarding the service itself; JW called me up to let me know some of the issues with my car (to be expected; she's as old as time) and gave me fair price points on the repairs. When I asked his opinion on which route to go he was honest in what he would do and in my case, suggested a patch instead of an extensive and expensive repair. Being on a budget, I really appreciated his input. In the end I felt that I received fair service and helpful advice on my car. I would definitely recommend these guys. I had my vehicle towed to this site, its been a while ago, but I need to review this for others. I…read morecalled them and they told me to tow it in. Once it was there they said they do not rebuilt the transmissions on these, and that I would need to buy one from them. I decided to source a used transmission on my own which I did. Ok, so after I got the vehicle back, and drove it for some time, I started to feel a thumping vibration, always after I've drove it for a bit. Then it starts to get worse and worse. I take it to another shop because AAMCO said the work was not under warranty and they were doing me a favor since I sourced my own transmission. The new shop told me I was missing heat shielding between my driveshaft and exhaust pipes. Sure enough there are several missing and the heat completely destroyed both drive shaft flex plates, drive shaft center bearing, transmission mount. I'm lucky the heat didn't melt the transmission electrical connections. I'm also missing all the hardware that would hold the heat shields on. But wait, it gets worse!! They left several bolts holding the engine to the transmission completely lose and hanging out, maybe a few threads holding them in. Very poor workmanship, attention to detail. I'm sure they found the heat shields laying around and nobody contacted me. Do NOT go to this business if you value your vehicle. WOW!!
