This auto shop is seriously so honest and truthful. They live up to their motto and name. I called…read morethem to get a quote about break pad replacements because another auto shop was quoting me $900. The first auto shop was telling me that my breaks were at 2/32 of an inch remaining and that I needed to promptly replace my front break pads, drums, and rear. The first auto shop told me that the gears were now metal on metal. For context, I left my car idle for 2 weeks and every time I would break there was a low murmur. My car only has 70K miles on it. The Straight Up mechanic said I probably do not need my rear break pads replaced. The Straight Up mechanic assured me over the phone that this can be explained by rust build-up and what I was hearing was perfectly normal, but he would need to inspect it to see what I would actually need to get done. When I brought in my car, the mechanic inspected my bread pads front and rear. He promptly told me I did not need any replacements and that the first auto shop was lying about what work my car needed done. Straight Up did not charge me anything at all, even for checking my break pads. I highly recommend this place to anyone because they are honest and will not take advantage of you. If I ever need my car serviced, I will for sure bring my car back here.

When one takes a car to a shop and says I think there is something wrong with the transmission,…read more one would most likely expect to hear that yes there is something wrong.!!! Guess what !! Steve said there wasn't a thing wrong with the transmission. I just wasn't use to 8 shifts or whatever vs old car having 4 or 6. WHAT A BLESSING AND TRULY AND AN HONEST PERSON!!! I am an old woman too and could very easily had been taken advantage of the situation!!! Thank you, thank you!!!

Avoid this place at all cost. They are greedy and scammers…read more I brought my car in because I heard a low murmur every time I would break. For context, my car was idle for 2 weeks. Google was telling me I needed to get my break pads checked, so I drove to the closest auto shop. I mentioned the noise I heard and wanted to get my break pads checked. They sent me an estimate of $900 and mentioned how worn down my breaks were and how I needed to get almost everything (front and back break pads, drums, and rotator) replaced. They mentioned that the noise I was hearing was metal on metal. I called another auto shop for a quote estimate and they gave me a lower price. So, when I went to pick up my keys AAMCO mentioned they would price match me. Out of principle, I would rather have my car checked at the second auto shop. The second auto shop said my front and back breaks were fine and that AAMCO was clearly lying about all the work my car needs done. What I heard was probably rust build up. The real kicker is when I first walked into AAMCO the mechanic asked if my roommate and I were law students... Looking back, Steve assumed he could pull a fast one by a) either up charging b) in this case fear mongering me into paying $900 for work that my car does not need. Save yourself some money and go to a more honest auto shop (Straight Up Automotive Shop - HIGHLY RECOMMEND) They at least have integrity unlike this AAMCO location that almost scammed me.

Our car broke down on a nearby highway, and was towed to this location, which we used because it…read morewas an option given by our insurance co. We were around 125 miles from home, didn't know this place, and figured we were going to get ripped off. Boy, were we wrong. The manager, Joe Shifflett, couldn't have been kinder or more understanding. After his mechanic diagnosed the problem, he told us the engine had seized up, couldn't be fixed, and at 128,000 miles, it just wasn't worth it to install a new engine. The car needed to be junked. We appreciated his honesty. But now we were stuck. So Joe and his colleague sprang into action and recommended a tow company, which hauled our car away to the junkyard. And they helped find us a car rental company, calling around until they found us an agency. Joe even drove us to the rental agency! He didn't have to do that, yet he went out of his way to help us. Everyone at this place was so kind and sympathetic. Couldn't have been nicer. We probably won't use them again, since they're 125 miles away, but we can recommend Joe and his colleagues to anyone who needs honest service. I truly believe this place can be trusted.
