Not all Mavis locations are created equal. I've been to other locations that turned into a hellish nightmare yet despite that I walked into another location. This location was a good experience. I've been here three times this month to fix a problem that Mavis caused. Brought my car in to have a new tire and rim put on and after noticed the car veering strongly one way so I brought it in for a wheel alignment thinking this would fix the issue. I drive it off the lot to find I the issue still was not fixed. I brought it in again and they told me I had the wrong tire size put on and said I needed to purchase a new one, but failed to tell me this when I had them install the tire in the first place. I drove it off the lot AGAIN to find that the issue was STILL persisting so I brought it back one more time for them to finally fix it. I ended up paying 4x the amount just to have a simple tire put on. If you are a woman who doesn't know a lot about cars, I wouldn't recommend going here as they will completely scam you. read more

Avoid this business at all costs. Had a 12:00 appointment with 4 tires to be mounted and balanced at their advertised price. I received a call the evening before that the tires were unavailable but they had others in the same size available. Naturally, they were at a higher price. What a surprise! I bit the bullet and said fine and I would be in at noon the following day. They stress on their website to please be on time for your appointment. No problem. I arrived at 11:45 and checked in where I was then informed they had no idea what I was having done. This is after the schedule and the phone conversation the night before. The guy behind the desk finally figured it out and he wrote up the invoice. He then said we will call you when it's done. I informed him I would wait which is why I made an "appointment" the day before in the first place. After an hour and a half of waiting and seeing no progress at all I told them to return my key and cancel the order. I was then asked who I was and which car was mine. I replied I'm the only guy here with a 12:00 appointment and been sitting here for 1 1/2 hours waiting to even get in the shop. He showed no concern whatsoever and handed me my key. One more point, while waiting there all that time, no less then 8 people came in with similar problems or arguing over charges on their vehicles. Avoid this place under all circumstances. There are other reputable tire dealers in the area and no need to give this place any business. Several years ago I tried the other Mavis Tire place on union avenue and was treated the same way. I don't usually review things but this experience has been so bad that I feel I have to. I have a c300 and initially experienced a ruptured tire last year after hitting a bad pothole. I could not make it to Mercedes dealership because of distance and brought it to Mavis. The tire I had put on did not look new. I pointed it out to the guys who changed it and they said sometimes they get dirty in the garage. I gave the benefit of the doubt and left. The tire gave me problems from the start. I had to fill it with air every 2-3 weeks for months. I complained to Mavis and was told everything looked fine. I then complained to headquarters and they didn't call back and finally on my fifth call they said there is nothing they can do because I didn't have a warranty. Finally, in less than a year the tire would not keep any air and was at 0 so I had to change it. When I brought the tire back to Mavis and told them the story the person who helped me said they would not bring a nice car here! This time I was in a bad situation again because the tire had no pressure and I don't have a nearby Mercedes dealership. I had them replace my 2 front tires with an alignment to make sure nothing could be causing the tire to go bad. I repeatedly asked them if they were both runflat Pirelli tires and they said yes. It was dark so I just saw they were Pirelli and went home. The next morning when it was light out I saw they were not runflat tires. In fact they were cheaper Pirelli tires (priced $100 cheaper than what I paid). I called Mavis complaints because I felt this was too much and I was told a regional manager would call me back which they never did. I took my car back to the same Mavis and waited an hour for someone to look at the tires and finally they confirmed they were not what I paid for and were not runflat tires. I had to bring them in another day and when I did they were extremely rude as if I was being a bother for actually making sure I got what I paid for. I personally feel they may sell reused tires and their workers at this site do not care about quality. In addition, they have no interest in improving--I have tried to call to file a complaints and they say someone will call me back but they do not. I would never take a car here again. It may be cheaper but in my experience you will end up paying more in time and money! read more

DO NOT GO HERE. I got 2 brand new snow tires on Monday. I drove for the first time 4 days later and both tires in the front went flat as I was driving. Thankfully I pulled over because I knew something wasn't right. The tow truck driver said the tires were not sealed correctly and it was most likely due to them rushing. This happened after 3 appointments with them because they did not order the tires when I called them a week before. Never again. Update: They resealed the tires again because they did not do it correctly the first time. They offered a discount on breaks which I declined. I still will not be returning. I have been to Mavis tires in Vailsgate New York at least a dozen times over the past few years. I am thoroughly satisfied each and every time I visit there. I have gone for tires, brakes, suspension work, as well as oil changes. I have dealt mostly with Brian at the front desk, but I am sure that all the workers there are just as polite as him. I highly recommend Mavis tires in Vailsgate New York to have done whatever work or whatever tires you may need. I specify Vailsgate New York because that is the only one I've been to. read more

I took my wife's car here the other day to get the state inspection done. After waiting three hours they told me the tires were bad and that my car had failed the inspection. The manager told me " i'm supposed to peel off your old inspection sticker since you failed, but I'm just gonna leave it on. Don't worry about it." (my inspection is still good for a few weeks) seems pretty sketchy to me, letting a car that can't pass inspection drive around legally... I took the car somewhere else to get new tires put on. The mechanic at the shop was unable to get one the lug-nuts off due to it being cross threaded. Mavis denied that they cross threaded the lug-nut when they Put my bad tire back on, saying "there is no way we could do it with the special tools we have. It must of been the other shop when they were taking it off." You tell me how you cross thread a lug-nut when removing it? Exactly you don't! Mavis still refused to admit to their mistake. I am immediately headed over to Mavis with my car to get this issue fixed. Mavis didn't even argue with me I'm fixing it, they said they would get the lug-nut off and put a new tire on free of charge. (If you didn't make the mistake why would you be so quick to fix it?) It took a while for them to fix the problem, they eventually had to melt the lug-nut off. Finally everything was done and I was on my way. Now that I had all four tires on, I took the car to get an alignment done on it. The mechanic from that shop comes out and tells me that one of my tires is bad. How could this be? I just bought four brand new tires... well I will tell you. Mavis did not take the old tire off the rim like they said they did. Mavis did not put the new tire on the rim like they said they did. Mavis left the brand new tire in the trunk! Of course I should've double checked and made sure the new tires on before I left, but I assumed they already messed up once they weren't gonna mess up again and as long as it took him to do the job I figured they changed the tire. This shop is garbage and the mechanics that work here are a joke! Do not go here to get anything done... I will be calling corporate first thing Monday. read more

Dishonest people working at this establishment, was told to come at a certain time to have tires installed, arrived at that specific time and was told it couldn't be done that day. Drove 1.5 hrs to my home thinking I can have tires installed locally, when I could have had them installed at a shop near my workplace. Thought i was doing the right thing by calling ahead before i just walked in,was trying not to be "that guy". I'm a blue collar worker as well and totally understand high customer volume,but honesty is key. I virtually never write negative reviews, but I'll make an exception for them. First off, I've had great experiences with a different Mavis store, so it's not the chain, it's this particular branch. I dropped off my car at 10:30am for an 11am appointment. Check in was easy. I was going to wait there, but the lady said that it would be a few hours, so I went to wait at a friend's house. At 3:30pm, after hearing nothing from them, I call to check on the status. A different lady answers and puts me on hold to go check. About 5 minutes later, she comes back. "Are you still there?" "Yes." "What was your name again?" She leaves to go check again. Another 5 minutes, and she comes back. "Are you still there?" "Yes." More confusion and leaves to check again. 10 minutes later, a man picks up the phone, to fill in for the other woman. We start over from scratch. He leaves to check. At the 22 minute mark of this phone call, we get cut off. I call back, and get the same guy. He finally tells me that they haven't started on my car yet, but says they'll get to it soon. I ask when he thinks it'll be ready. "By 6 o'clock." "When do you close?" "6 o'clock." At about 5:40pm, my friend drops me off. I go inside and wait in line for a few minutes. I ask the guy (the same guy from the phone) if my car's ready. He goes in to the bay to check, and comes back out saying, "It'll be a few more minutes." I point outside to where I had parked my car more than 7 hours earlier. "Isn't that my car right there?" He looks sheepish, and finally admits, "Yeah, we haven't gotten to it yet." At that point, I gave up and took my key back. Never again. I'll drive an hour each way to the GOOD Mavis rather than come back here, and still save time overall. read more

And now the shocks are messed up, when we had no issues with them before. Tires were cheap, but that's the only good thing about this place. I would give this Mavis a zero star rate if I could. I made a appointment for 9:30am for a simple New York State inspection. It should have taken 10 minutes. At 10:20am, after two other vehicles came in after me and got in before me, I told the lady that I had to go to work by 10:30. Instead of explaining that they were backed up or any other excuse, she simply said, "Oh, well your vehicle won't be done any time soon". I'm not positive why I even had an appointment. I went across the road to Valvoline and they had me in and out inside 30 minutes! I would not recommend Mavis and will never attempt to go there again. read more

What an incredibly disappointing and frustrating experience. I had an appointment for 1 o'clock to get 4 new tires. By the time my car was brought in and the tires were on, it had been nearly 4 hours of waiting. During that 4 hour time span, 2 customers had walked out because they had been promised work that was not being completed either. Also during that time I heard the manager apologizing on phone calls to customers who had scheduled appointments but had not had their vehicles worked on. This seemed to be the common problem of the business. Making appointments and then not completing the work. The company tried to have additional work completed on my car which they deemed "imminently necessary" and after having to strongly refuse several times to two separate managers, my tires were put on and I was able to leave. Mismanagement and lack of professionalism are the two biggest issues with this establishment. Be prepared to wait to have work done if at all, if you choose their services. read more

I came here two weeks ago for 2 new tires, tire balance and an alinement. I was there first thing in the AM. I ended up waiting 3 hours for them to get the job done. There is a window at this location allowing you to see the bays and guys working. What I noticed was the guys spend a lot of time standing around talking or joking or going out for cig breaks! My car sat on the lift for over 30 mins with no one working on it . Once done I was on my way. Shortly after driving on the hwy, I noticed my car was pulling to the left and had a shake! When I called Mavis they said they would take car if it. I brought it back today and told them that I had to leave by 9:15 . My car was brought in but again sat on a lift for 40 mins until I said something about what was the deal? 10 mins later new weights were placed on my tires and then I was told the alinement could not be done till later due to the alinement guy calling out sick! Now I have to come back AGAIN later today! It took them all day to switch out my two tires! read more

This shop needs to be investigated. Over the years I've gone and been asked to get some expensive repair job that other mechanics would confirm I didn't need. I went for a simple inspection the other day, didn't take their brake deal, and surprise, a few days later my caliper seized from a pushed in pin, which caused my car to smoke and make me lose out on work. To make matters worse, the guy fixing my car worked for Mavis, and confirmed they sabotage vehicles to make money. I hope other people see this and avoid that shop at all costs. read more

To start: I needed tires and an alignment done. I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee so I rack up a 1K bill easily and have expectations for it to be done correctly. I dropped it off on a Saturday around 845am with an appointment and told them I needed it done by 130pm. I was told absolutely. I called before I went over and it wasn't done. I picked it up after 6 pm and they had it done, with the windows down, outside in 30 degree weather. Leaves all over the interior of my car and now freezing with my leather seats. The next day after driving less than 20 miles my dashboard lights up and FREAKS out. The tire pressure is off in all my tires and one tire isn't even reading. I call, they tell me they can't fix it that day and to bring it back the following day, Monday. Once again, I bring it back and make it clear I expect them to program the pressure between my car and the actual tire pressure, it needs calibration or whatever it's "technically called". For 1K... I expect that to be done the first time, especially since they had my car all day. They say they completed it and nope, it was all off, I checked it myself with the car vs. the tire pressure gauge, plus they didn't put the caps back on my tires. For the third trip the manager, Brittany, took care of it and that is the only reason they are getting two stars is because she did understand and did take care of it, but I will not be going back regardless. read more

PAID $742.95 at Mavis. PAID $639.32 for the damages they caused. No compensation. Unsafe. DO NOT COME HERE I came to this location on 1/31/2019 for 4 new tires and an alignment. I came in at 5:30PM, my car was only put on the lift at 7PM. I was told this was a lengthy as it takes time to change 4 tires, balance, and align them. They didn't start to work on my car until the last full business hour. I left for an hour and came back. When I paid $742.95 and I finally got my car back, the tire indicator light was on. When I told Brian, the manager, I was told that my car was relearning it had tires, and that it would go off in 20 miles. It did not. It started to flash. When I called Mavis, Brian asked me if the tires I had bought and had installed 14 hours earlier where inflated. My tires had 18 PSI in them. They were never filled. I got in contact with Patrick, the regional manager, he told me I could only come into Mavis' Newburgh NY location on Monday, 2/5/2019 because that was the only day the manager Michael was scheduled so I could be helped. I had my car checked out by my dealership 2 days after going to Mavis. (1/31/2019 then 2/2/2019) Mavis did not install my tires correctly. They actually put them on backwards(directional tread) and caused damage. They broke 2 of my TPMS systems. An alignment wasn't done. My car was not safe to drive. I ended up spending $639.32 on repairs to my car, for damages directly caused by Mavis. I called corporate and talked to Janelle, they never apologized for putting my life at risk, the poor service, and they would not compensate me for repairs. This Mavis location caused $639.32 worth of damages to my car on top of charging me $742.95. Do not come here. They do not care if they put your life in danger. They will tell you to wait to be seen by a specific person when it's not their day off. They do not have a trained service team and they will damage your car. The Manager Brian didn't seem interested in fixing things because he hung up the phone on me when I called. Do not come here. They charged me $742.95, and then Two days later, I needed to pay $639.32 for repairs to make my car safe. They do not care about safety. They don't have a trained team. Corporate doesn't care and won't compensate for the cost of repairs, nor would they apologize for the damages caused. They are expensive, careless, and will put your life in danger. read more

He treats everyone with the utmost respect and he knows pretty much everything there is to know about vehicles. Because of Andre and his team at Mavis, I refuse to go anywhere else. My car is very special to me and it's treated that way at Mavis. While sitting at Mavis, waiting for my vehicle to be finished, I notice Andre speaking to many other customers and his smile and demeanor is so heart warming and inviting. No matter what kind of car you have, Andre and Mavis will treat it as if it's a one of a kind priceless automobile. Who could want anything more? I wish I could duplicate Andre and put him at every business I could think off. I'm not getting paid by Mavis and I have never worked there. On 1/29/2021 I scheduled an appointment for new tires on 1/31/2021at 10am. I dropped off my car and was told it was still going to take 3 or 4 hours. So 5 and a half hours later I called and they told me that there were still 2 other cars they had to work on first. So I scheduled an appointment 2 days in advance and then wasted the entire day waiting for it and they never even got around to it. What's the point of scheduling an appointment if they're just going to take all these walk ins first. So I'll be getting tires elsewhere. Every time I go for a simple tire rotation which is supposed to be free I end up spending hundreds of dollars on a repair they insist is necessary for safety. They frequently forget to do something I ask for like an oil change in addition to tire rotation. Different people tell you different things there. Last year I ordered snow tires and I had 5 different salesmen telling 5 different dates to expect delivery. Cody one of the salesmen is smug and rude. I will never go back. The owners are very helpful and honest. I have done inspections, brake and tire work and they are very willing to make a deal to get your business. I have always left my car there, so I can't speak about waiting times, but if its a Saturday and you bring in your car expect to wait...not sure that's their fault. Total incompetent! We ordered tires to have delivered to this store. When my husband called on the date they were to arrive, he was told the tires had not been delivered. I called Good Year the next day and was told they were delivered (gave me exact time of drop off by Fedex) but the tires could not be located in the store. Received a call later in the day from Good Year stating the tires had been found. My husband went to have the tires installed on Saturday and dealt with "Janet, the manager" who first said the tires were never delivered, then said they can't be found. Told my husband "higher up's in the company had been there the day before and the store was purged" (this was done with "air quotes"!!!! She offered no solution for tires that had not only been delivered but were paid for. When my husband said the store was incompetent, her reply was "BYE"!!! Will never, ever, ever go there again and will be sure to share this very disturbing experience with anyone who will listen. read more

I drove to 2 other auto mechanics with no success (on a non busy day of the week). They said because it was drizzling outside they couldn't help. Mavis New Windsor - This place is atrocious. Was convinced to purchase tires through them directly, only to be told they were going to charge me $25/tire for mounting and balance alone. Told them absolutely not and got them to knock it down to $10/tire. Day comes to bring it in for service: they have my car for about two hours before calling me and telling me there are a slew of other issues with my car that they want to fix for me (I firmly declined, as I know my car well and it was all bullshit). They then proceed to tell me that I need an alignment (no shit - you're putting new tires on my car. Of course I do.) So they tell me that's going to be an additional $79.99 and was not included in the original price I was given. At this point, my bill is up to $550 from the $419 they originally quoted me. So I'm expecting to have this all done right the first time and to simply leave with my pockets hurting. NOPE. If they even balanced and aligned my tires, they did the most shit job I've ever seen in my life. My alignment was WORSE than it was before it went in the shop, and my car was still shaking violently from being unbalanced. So I took it back a second time. That time, the balance issue got fixed (barely - it still shook minimally but I wasn't about to make a racket about it), but my wheels were STILL not aligned. Opened a ticket with Mavis Corporate to try to get this resolved instead of going back to location a THIRD time- never got a fckn call or email response and 10 days later I got an email saying my ticket was CLOSED. Went there for the LAST time on February 23, 2019. I had gone there on 2/18/19 to get some work done including having the right rear tire checked for a slow leak and my tires rotated. I had to leave my car for the better part of the day. When I picked my car up, the receipt showed the work done INCLUDING checking the tire and rotation. When I asked about the tire with the leak, he said he sealed the tire. The next day on my way to work the tire pressure light came on again. I took it to be checked and was told it was the right rear tire, the same one I asked them to check, which means the tire was NEVER checked and the tires were NEVER rotated. When I went back I explained this to them and they said they would take a look. After being there for 3 hours I asked why it was taking so long and was told "we're very busy" to which I replied "I came to have a job finished that you neglected to finish on my last visit although you clearly stated on the receipt that you did it ". I ended up taking it to a local mechanic who fixed the leak and rotated my tires. There was no cost at Mavis because I bought the tires there, but I had to incur an extra cost because I had to pay the other mechanic for those services they did NOT do, although they claimed they did on the receipt. I went in for an oil change and they tried to charge me $81. I told them" I always pay $30 something for oil changes(which I get at the dealership for my car). The guy responded in a laughing matter "then they are not putting the right oil in your car". Why would the dealership where I got my car put the incorrect oil for my car? Not only do I not appreciate them trying to rip me off but he was very unprofessional to basically laugh in my face. Will not visit this location again. read more

This place used to be great, management changes vet the last couple of years has made it slowly decline. I was a big fan of Mavis and now I am done. When you have an appointment two weeks in advance and you wait 2 1/2 hours before your vehicle even rolls in is very frustrating. First question they ask,.... "Are you waiting?", well apparently whether I sit in the waiting area with an appointment or not, I am waiting.
