Let me start off by saying we have been bringing all our cars here for years and always have had a great experience . Tyler and Co over at Mavis have always been extremely friendly knowledgeable and have serviced all our needs for our cars and have never tried to lie or overcharge us . I had to bring my car in this morning because I heard a rubbing metal noise between my rotor and right tire dropped it off an hour later I got a call saying there's no issue everything checks out great they even test drove it there was some gravel found that was possibly causing the sound that was rubbing against the rotor and the brake pad and I do drive over gravel roads every week . They have always been upfront honest and have not charged if there was no issue. Definitely would recommend them read more

I went to get an ailment, I new I would have to get tires. This is not the problem. They wouldn't do the alignment because they told me I needed a tie rod and should change the bad one and replace the good one. I didn't get it done and went to another place they told me there was nothing wrong with the tie rods . They lied to my face. I have been a customer for awhile and overheard them doing this kind of thing to other's, bottom line they lost a customer. Be wary. read more

In 2020 I had an Extremely Bad Experience with Mavis in Newburgh, NY on Route 300, swearing to myself I would never use Mavis again. I'm glad I rethought that when choosing to go to this Mavis at 115 Strand Street, Matamoras, PA. 5 Stars all the way! The day before an expected snow storm, I immediately started calling around, Mavis was my 5th Place (1st next time), that I called. 2 of 4 places could get me in, but they couldn't guarantee I be finished by 4:30pm, the time I would have to leave for work. So, I decided to check the Mavis Out in Matamoras area and Happy I did. I first went online, very easy to use. The earliest appointment was for 3pm. I checked it off. Then it led me to a tire section. Entered my license plate and Year Make & Model and MANY TIRE CHOICES Showed up. The cheapest were $133.99 each. I didn't like the look. The second cheapest were $158.99 each, I ordered 2 immediately and completed making the appointment. 245/60HR18 50,000 mile warranty. I showed up at 2:45pm and the Nice Lady at the Front Desk named (Deana/Dina) found my 3pm appointment. She first told me that they might not be able to get me in right at 3pm, a concern for me, but I told her as long as I'm out by 4:30pm I'll be good for work. I then seen my car get pulled in at 2:55pm (I heard employees talking that it was a skeleton crew working this day) , it seemed to be very busy, no employees just standing around, all very busy hard at work. The man in charge of my car, his name was Rosario (Rosie? Maybe). Deana asked if I wanted the Tire Balancing ($40.) I declined. I watched Rosario use state of the art technology to make sure the tires being put on were what they were suppose to be to avoid any unwanted surprises. After spending about 20 minutes on my 2 tires, I seen him start to put them on. I was done by 4pm and my total bill for the 2 tires with Installation and Taxes came to $410.04 (plus I gave a tip for the great service). I could've had a cheaper experience or more expensive by having a large choice of tires to choose from, I'm happy with the ones I chose. While there, there was coffee for customers they had from the Dunkin Donuts next door, I chose to go get my own coffee or I know I would drink up quite a bit. I talked to another lady there that was happy with their service as well. They also have a small waiting room with tv on and room for a few people to sit and wait. I noticed a small kid's area too if needed. Overall it was a Great Experience and even though I will never ever use the Mavis in Newburgh, I will go to this Mavis on the outskirts of Matamoras & Milford PA. 100% Great Job! I didn't want to put too much into this car as Mid January I will be looking for a newer car, but this snow storm caught me off guard and I needed to make sure I didn't miss work, this Mavis allowed me to do this. I would 100% recommend this place. Also, after years of recommending Monro on Dolson in Middletown, the service is different, I no longer recommend Monro. I'll drive the extra 30 to 45 minutes to come to this Mavis over the other 2 places I had experiences with. Also, anyone looking for a job. This Mavis seemed very busy with the proper equipment to do a job properly. This place was awesome - I had to drive from PA to VT during the post-Christmas week, and couldn't find anywhere that could get me an oil change quickly - but I didn't want to drive 300 miles after my due change given my car (Highlander Hybrid) is 16 years old. I called Mavis and Steve said he could get me in if I was patient - not only were they able to see my car within 15 minutes, they went the extra mile when they discovered a cap to the oil tank was missing and got one locally and put it on all within a short wait. Today I made an appointment for 10am for an oil change. When I arrived it was only me and another gentleman in the waiting room. After being checked in I sat down and the one woman with brown hair and an arm tattoo started going in the garage and yelling and cursing at the service techs, this went on for about 30 minutes. She was on the phone with "Tom" cursing and complaining about an employee. After that was over I sat for 2 1/2 hours. I understand it was Fathers Day but there was only me and the other gentleman sitting in the waiting room. After 2 1/2 hours my car was finally done. I get into my car to drive away and the service light was still on because it was not reset and there was no sticker for when I need to come back for my next oil change. After being frustrated instead of going back in I drove home. Once I got home I read the service receipt and it said that my drain plugs were replaced because they were destroyed and that I need a new oil pan. No one told me that at the shop. I am a loyal customer here. The gentleman that's bald and tall and the younger gentlemen with dark hair has been phenomenal with me in the past. That is the only reasoning I will be giving them one more chance. Both gentlemen were not present during my service today. read more

Never again.....had a 10am appointment for 4 tires. Dropped my car off @ 9:30am. Called @ 2:20pm to see if it was finished only to be told that it hasn't even gone in yet! Told them leave it I'll be there in a few minutes to get my car and take it somewhere else! Manager was rude, and unprofessional! Only got worse when I asked the gentleman that gave me my keys for the phone number for the district manager. She seriously rolled her eyes.... Stay far away from this place. Employees sitting around like they have nothing to do while cars are in the bays. Employees (1 specific) sitting inside the bay on a stack of tires smoking a cigarette........ I wanted to say thank you to Steve and everyone at Mavis. I was getting new tires & it turned out i had much more work that needed to be done. Steve took the time to explain everything to me and was able to fix everything i needed at a fraction of what other places would have cost without their expertise. They had my car at 9:00 am and it was done by 3:00. I have trusted this specific place because in 2017 on my way back from Virginia Beach. I had car issues, they fixed my car without overcharging, gave excellent customer service, and made sure my car was safe to drive. In both experiences, they treated me as they would their own family. I trust their knowledge and experience. I am so appreciative that there are mechanics who truly care about their customers and have real knowledge and expertise. Complete waste of time. Avoid at all costs unless you like driving on your donut! I had road damage to one of my tires and had to replace it with the spare tire. Made an appointment online Thurs @ 12:30pm for Friday 1pm. Got a call Friday saying your tire isn't here, but we will call you back later....No call. I called again late afternoon - check with us in the morning. Called again first thing Sat morning. Tire will be here @ 10am or 1pm. I called @ 11am. No tire - we will call you back. No call. I called again @ 2pm. No tire. I asked if they had alternatives in that size in stock. Yes (why they didn't offer that in any of the other calls?). Come in tomorrow morning (Sunday) and the woman at the front desk will take care of you. I arrive before they open as I have a 300 mile journey to make Sunday. Her idea of "taking care of me" (with attitude) is that (because I don't have a reservation - because YOU didn't have my tire), is that I can wait from 9am until 4pm to get the tire replaced. Yeah - I'll just hang around for 7 hours. I always used Mavis (other locations) for tires. This was an absolute disaster and probably the worst customer service experience I've had anywhere in the last 10 years. I'll never go to a Mavis again. read more

We had lots of shaking on our Hyundai after getting it back from the dealer for engine repair. Of course, it was a Sunday and needing to drive 2 hours that night back home. Danielle was wonderful with setting an emergency appointment, and making sure that we could have the car looked at. Turned out there was dry rot on two tires from the car being stationary at the dealer lot for a month, and a slipped radial belt that was wearing through a rear tire. Tires ordered for a week expected 4 but only 2 arrived no call to tell us. Had to buy a more expensive tire. No consideration. Sloppy and dangerous job. All 4 Highly over inflated 71 lbs. on highway next day should have been 34-38 psi. This could have killed us...Max pressure on sidewall = 51 PSI Tech pissed or vicious not sure which. Sealant all over rims. DO NOT USE. Severe Over pressure beyond what is labeled on the tires' sidewall can cause explosive failure and bodily injury. read more

We went in for a wheel alignment and it turned out that our car needed tire rods. Due to the expertise of Tyler and Tom they suggested we get that done, so that the alignment could be done correctly. Although we were not expecting the extra expense. Tyler advised us that it would be best and explained in detail how beneficial it was to have it done especially since winter is coming. Tyler worked on our car the very next day and did a phenomenal job and, Tom took care of us. He made sure the price was fair. The level of service and honesty we received exceeded our expectations!! Went to Jack Williams in Honesdale, got my tires with the full 70% refund, the tires were cheaper, they offer more complimentary services, and customer service was top notch. As a mavis customer for many years for tires, went for state inspection, manager told me I needed a new battery, I knew I didn't. He told me I had a bad cell. PURE BS, low and behold over 2 years later same battery is starting every time, even in sub freezing weather. DON'T BE HAD BY SCAMMING MANAGER. read more

I brought my 2013 BMW 335ix here to switch out my run flats to winter tires. I called ahead and came at the appointed time. They said it would take about 2 and a half hours. It ended up taking almost 4 hours. The bottom line is that this place will take a long time switching out your tires. My car took almost an hour and a half before they took it up off the parking lot. So be prepared to wait or just drop your car off and come back later when they give you a call. The service is fine and the staff should help you out with any problems you might have. Overall the price is average. Switching out 4 tires costed about $120 with tax included. Maybe you could find some cheaper places if you look. They'll get the job done. Absolutely the worst customer service ever!! I am a firm believer in giving people and businesses a second chance because anyone can have a bad day. However, I am done with this business and suggest no one else go there as well until they hire new people. First time, took all day to put tires on my truck. Dropped the truck off in the morning and told them I needed it done by 3p. Was told no problem plenty of time. It did not get done until 6p. Thought maybe they needed parts or something went wrong. Nope, was told it takes that long. Then the person at the desk said my shocks were leaking and need to be replaced. That surprised me because I did not think there was an issue with the shocks. So I asked the person who was working on the truck if the shocks were leaking and he said "no they look fine who said they were leaking because I never said that". Okay, so a business trying to make more money, not unusual. However, a complete lie from the person at the desk. Since it took so long for the tires I asked if everything was reset with the tire pressures. The service person had no clue what I was talking about until I showed him. So that was day one. Also, my appointment for that day was put in wrong and the person at the desk gave me an attitude but told me "luckily we can take early mornings walk-ins". Now leading to the second visit with the second and last chance. Since I have used Mavis before for my Jeep I have a free tire rotation. So I pull in this morning as a walk-in, since I was told they take walk-ins this early and received nothing but attitude. An elderly woman was ahead of me there for an appointment which was not scheduled correctly by the employee so the same person behind the desk gave her an attitude about not having an appointment. She said she would take her as a walk-in but she missed her appointment. I told the elderly woman the same thing happened to me so don't be upset it's not your fault. Obviously this really upset the person behind the desk because she refused to see me as a walk-in and yelled at me in the parking lot. If Mavis wants to keep this particular business open they need to speak to the person at the desk about her attitude. I get that there is a hiring shortage and people are under a ton of stress right now but that is no reason to be that nasty and rude to people. I will definitely take the extra drive to another tire center before I revisit this Mavis. read more

I'm giving Mavis 1 star because I can't give them 0. I got 2 new tires elsewhere because the last time I bought tires there they put the wrong size on. Mavis did an alignment on the vehicle & 5 weeks later the inner portion of both of the back tires were down to the steel belts. This car usually sits in the driveway & a one day trip an hour away & back did this. We took it to Mavis & was explaining the situation to one of the managers. He immediately became defensive & shrugged his shoulders. My husband asked him to take a look at the tires. He refused to help us in any way, got rude with both me & my husband. We all got loud, the assistant manager told us to leave the property & threatened us with calling the police, which I was about to do myself because he began to get in my husband's face & point his fingers in his face. I asked the assistant manager for a phone number for his boss or the corporate office. He said he would not give me any numbers & to get out. The officer arrived & began to take our statement. The assistant manager came out yelling & the officer asked him to be quiet & go inside. The officer then went in & the employees made him wait to give his statement. Then, the officer came out & took pictures of the tires & asked me to email him the picture I took of the manager with his finger in my husband's face. My husband called corporate after the officer got the number. They refused to help us saying that they had just spoken to the assistant manager & he told them that my husband had threatened him. The officer was standing there & he said that the assistant manager did NOT put that my husband had threatened him in his statement. When the officer went back inside to question the employees, they said that nobody had threatened anyone. So, the officer put that the assistant manager lied to the corporate office in the police report. The car is unable to be driven home due to the wear on the tires. On the advice of the officer he said not to leave it in the adjacent parking lot for fear of vandalism by Mavis employees. He directed us to park it in another business' parking lot where it would be safe. He also said to take this to small claims court, which we will. As myself, my husband & the officer were pulling out, one of the employees yelled to us, "See you later, asshole!" The officer turned around & went back in. All starts go to the amazing customer service guy in the front. Tire rotation job was completely blotched: whomever did it, did not rotate tires, just switched them from one place to another. So, if they don't know how to rotate tires (or rather, don't care), I am not sure how can I trust them with other issues (e.g. how do I know that the same clueless technician really put full synthetic oil in my car and not something cheaper, just because he felt like it). I will never return. If you are in NJ, I highly recommend Tire King in Sussex and Mavis in Franklin instead. read more

I called and made an appointment to mount and balance four new tires two days ahead. They assured me the tires would be there and set the appointment for 1:00 pm on Friday. I arrived at 1:00 pm and was told they had no information on me or my car, just the appointment. I then proceeded to wait two hours before my car even made it inside the shop. They then opened the hood (for a tire change?) and I waited another thirty minutes before being called into the shop to be informed that they had "a minus four" inventory on the tires I had hoped to buy. I was offered other inferior brands as a substitute. Best thing I could do was just get my keys and leave. These clowns wasted my afternoon. The dolt I perceived to be the manager was totally uninvolved. PS: I went to Wal*Mart auto service center right down the road. Walked in cold off the street and had four tires mounted and balanced in about an hour, for less money. Mavis; never again. Customer service IS important. read more
