I don't typically right non food reviews, but this experience warrants one. I came to Mavis instead of going to my dealership because they were able to fit me in same day to replace two tires. I ended up spending close to $500 and on first appearances everything seemed fine however once I hit the highway, I found that my car vibrated quite severely. I came back to have it checked out again and now the problem is even worse. I was told that they did everything they could, and wasn't really given additional help beyond that. I am now out $500 and will have to go to the dealership to have this issue fixed. UPDATE: The tire that was supposed to be replaced was just moved to my back wheel (so they took one of my good tires and did what with it??) pictures show the tire before I brought it in and after I picked it up. read more

I wanted them to plug my tire but they refused to do so claiming the nail was in sideways and I would have to buy a new one. I asked them to put a tube in and they said they don't do that (the tire only had 7,000 miles on it). I asked them to put my spare tire on and they said they do not do that. They obviously only wanted to sell a new tire which I refused. I took it to another garage and they put a plug in it, no problem. They are not a very honest business. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE at this Mavis location - I would give them negative stars if possible. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL, RUDE, AND IRRESPONSIBLE STAFF. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION - their mechanics are terrible. I received an oil change from a different mavis facility that was unable to turn off the service light in my car. I called this location and they offered to take a look for me and assured me they had the right technology to fix the issue. Their mechanics tried for over 2 hours to turn off the light, I repeatedly asked them what was taking so long and they kept reassuring me that they were figuring it out and it wouldn't take much longer. I left there with more lights on in my car than when I brought it to them. The mechanic told me he accidentally reset the motherboard to factory setting and there was nothing more he could do. After taking it to the dealership, I called Mavis and asked if they would be willing to cover the cost of the mistake THEIR mechanics caused. At first, the store manager, Kevin, was very understanding and agreed that they will cover the fee. I called back a few days later, and was told after consulting his regional manager that there was "no way to prove his mechanic caused the issue". After trying to explain to him how frustrating it was that he was essentially lying about not knowing (since he was there for the entire 2 hours his mechanic worked on it), he HUNG UP ON ME. I will never go back to another Mavis again because of my experience - do better and train your employees on how to speak to customers, especially women. read more

We had the weirdest experience today. After waking up to slashes tires, I called Mavis and spoke to gary. he was helpful and stated that the total for my make and model for 4 tires would be $683 and scheduled my appointment. Gary assured me that the appointment would take roughly 1.5 hours. moments later, I received a call from the front desk. Gabrielle was confirming my appointment and asking all the questions I'd already been asked by Gary. Expecting the total of $683, we towed our car to Mavis. however when we arrived, gabrielle told us we were misquoted for the tires and we were, in fact, needing to spend $830. that felt like a tremendous bait and switch, however, our car was undriveable, and I didn't feel we had a choice. Gabrielle assured us that the car would take 1.5 Hours, and asked if we intended to wait. we declined. around 4pm (5 hours later), I inquired about my car and was told we would be next in line to have our tires done, and it would be ready at 5. we arrived at 5 and were told 530. 530 rolled around and gabrielle was no where to be seen, yet there were still cars in and out of the bay. ours was not being worked on. 6 rolls around. now 630. and we are STILL sitting here. other cars have come and gone, while ours continues to sit in the bay for tires. This wasted HOURS of our very busy weekend. Price quotes and time estimates are not respected at all. I would not return and would not recommend this place unfortunately, unless you have all day and night to sit around waiting for your car. read more

I brought it back, they kept my car 3 days to fix it. they offered no refund or coverage for my rental car AMD I later noticed they damaged my side molding when they lifted the car. Terrible service. If you want to keep your car battery don't go here. All I needed was an oil change and some how my battery is now dead and had to get a new one after never having a problem before. They are doing this scam to steal your hard earned cash. A lady that was sitting next to me said she also had gotten an oil change and the next day needed a new battery. They had also told me my battery was fine before leaving. They will drain your battery and have you lay 250 dollars for a new one. Sunday morning and about to leave for vacation and discovered a slow leak in my tire. Drive over to Mavis and was greeting at the door by a girl who immediately began to help me. Then another guy come over told them the situation and within a few min they had my car up on the lift! They needed to replace my tire and was able to do so on the stop knowing i was trying to leave for vacation. I will never to to another Mavis location again. Mavis on Camplain Road in Hillsborough/Manville is great. Called them to check my tires because i was taking a trip. Chris said come down and he personally checked the tires and retightened my lug nuts to the right spec. The Honda dealer where we had recall warranty work done rotated the tires since we were there for the recall tighten the lugs nuts too tight and could not loosen if i got a flat on the road, Mavis set everything and did not charge me. I had called a few places and they would have to order my tire and someone suggested calling Mavis Tire in Hillsborough. The person who answered the phone (Don?) was great and even though it was late, he had the tire and told me to come right down. So I did come right down and my car was done while I got some work done on my computer using their free WiFi!! I'll be taking my car there now for oil changes and any other issues that come up. Pros: Very customer oriented. Reasonable prices. Great auto service provided. They even checked and found that my steering fluid requires replacement, got a good deal on that. Cons (solved): after the service I found oil prints which where almost everywhere: on my wheel, door handle, floor matt, engine. I left my feedback and hopefully that was just one time accident. Yesterday, when I called on my cell phone, to make an appointment, the first desk staff did not tell me, the reason for why, their business has changed, to no longer allowing customers being able to just to drop by (without having to call in advance) and get an oil change done within one hour, which was how this specific Mavis had ran their business for over the 14 years that I had gone there, prior to this last year. (with a new change of management, which was not for the better). The previous management, prior to this last year, for many years that I was coming there, was more honest and more willing to "Put the Customer First." Yesterday, when I even asked the staff, for why, I could not just drop by to get an oil change, this staff said, well, people have to book ahead, drop off cars, and if were waiting, oil changes will take 3 hours. I asked, "before you and your present management, it was not like this at all." He said, well, we have many customers and are just busy." I reminded him, at least, 2-3 times, that I was sure, as many customers probably came for car work before the present management, like myself, who never had this response before. He said, well, talk to another of my staff, instead. I hung up and called right back. A different staff answered the phone and immediately gave a more honest answer, that their business was short of mechanics. I then contacted another local Mavis actually even nearer to my home, in person, who made an oil change appointment with me next week. He was an older man whom I can tell has been in the business longer than the present management in the Manville location. This Manager immediately told me that oil changes and all other work has taken longer due to shortage of car mechanics, instead of just saying that "we're busy," like the Manville location desk staff said in the earlier phone call. This Manager, who I eventually booked an appointment with, was able to book an oil change appointment that he said, will take about an hour & 1/2 versus the Manville location desk staff saying, "3 hours as the least time." read more
