Friendly staff, Big Walt took good care of me. There was a slight miscommunication when he wasn't there but, he got it resolved immediately!

I had to have a tire repaired. The staff was very courteous and the patch took about 20 minutes. Very satisfied.

Valvoline Instant Oil Change

Valvoline Instant Oil Change

I was honestly so pleasantly surprised by my visit to this Valvoline. I purchased a Groupon for an…read moreoil change and headed in. Of course, no appointments are necessary or available, so when I pulled up, I was required to join the very long line. It extended out into the road. That said, with four cars in front of me, it only took 45 or so minutes to finally get in. Once my car entered the bay, a very sweet young person began to help me. They didn't try to oversell me on things I didn't need and were honest about how long I could go without changing things like my air filter, wipers, etc. That is not the experience I've had at places like Jiffy Lube. Anyway, I was in and out in like 17 minutes. Everyone was super kind. Note: Many employees were not wearing masks so if that is important to you, I recommend wearing your mask in your car while your vehicle is being serviced since they talk to you through the window.

I'm extremely disappointed with the negligence I experienced at Valvoline. After having my vehicle…read moreserviced, the clips that secure my skid plate were not properly put back on. As a result, the skid plate came loose while I was driving and left me stranded on the highway. This was not a minor inconvenience. A basic part of completing the service correctly is making sure anything removed during the service is properly reinstalled and secured before the customer leaves. I should never have been put in a situation where I was stuck on the highway because something underneath my vehicle was left unsecured. I contacted Valvoline Customer Service, the store was contacted, and the manager called me. I am documenting everything, including the condition of the skid plate and the costs associated with correcting this issue. I expect Valvoline to take full responsibility for replacing the damaged skid plate and addressing any other expenses or damage caused by this incident. Mistakes can happen, but negligence that creates a safety issue on the highway is unacceptable. Customers trust a service center to return their vehicle in safe driving condition. That did not happen in my case.

Three Strikes -- I'm Done With This Location…read more I've gone to the Valvoline in Bound Brook, NJ regularly because it's close to home. Even though my dealership in Wayne, NJ offers free oil changes, it's too far to be practical for regular service, so I've relied on this Valvoline for the convenience. The team is friendly, and the service is quick, which I appreciate. But as far as I can tell from tracking my visits, after the same issues happening three times in a row, I can't trust that I'm getting the full service I'm paying for -- and I won't be going back. The first thing I noticed was that my oil changes felt too frequent. When I checked my credit card statements, I saw I was getting oil changes way more often than I should. My car takes full synthetic oil, which should last about 7,500 miles, but each time, they set the return sticker at just 2,500 miles -- that's 5,000 miles early. When I asked about it, the attendant said it's their way of helping customers "avoid going over." But without telling me they were doing that, it just caused me to get unnecessary oil changes and spend more money. Then there's the tire pressure check, which is supposed to be included. On each of my last three visits, I went in with the tire pressure light on, and was told it would turn off after driving. It didn't. When I checked the tires myself, some were as much as 20 psi under. Clearly, they weren't checked or filled -- even though I was told they were. I don't mind putting air in my own tires, but I do mind being told something was done when it wasn't. And I really don't appreciate being guided into oil changes thousands of miles earlier than my vehicle requires. This location has been convenient, and the staff is polite and fast -- but trust matters more. After three bad experiences in a row, I've decided I'm done with this location

Pep Boys - Pep Boys "Auto" false advertising - only sells tires now. Don't waste your time plenty of other places for tires in Bridgewater

Dang these reviews are piss poor. Allow me to bring a little holiday cheer to this location by…read morespotlighting my wonderful experience with Carlos. My engine light came on again after I had it looked at by my mechanic. This is NOT shade against my mechanic - he warned me it would probably come back on but we need to follow the investigatory steps first. So at my brother's insistence (impatience?) I stopped to get the code read so I'd have a better idea why the light was on. I was hesitant bc women and car bros don't generally mix :sexism cough cough: but the prospect of being stopped on the highway with my son (a dog) gave me feminist courage to go in. Carlos came out, read my code, it was the evap code btw and reassured me that it's not the type of code that'll make my car cut off, it was safe to drive for a while, but would fail emissions which thankfully isn't for another 8 months. He told me to get it looked at sooner than later bc if something else goes wrong I wouldn't know since the light is already on. Good call. Carlos reiterated what my mechanic said about taking steps one by one and that the smoke test would probably be next to see where the leak is. He stressed there was no need to panic. We ended with a culturally relevant fist bump. I felt seen and respected. The next day i went back to my mechanic who kept the car, did the next steps, and then ordered my OEM parts for repair. This was a fantastic interaction. I know other reviewers haven't had positive experiences at this location and that's unfortunate. I think it's clutch (see what I did there) to know who to go to for what. Dealer will do warranty work. Mechanic will do my tires and other repairs. And Pep Boys will read my codes. Can't go wrong that way. So Kudos to Carlos. Or the guy wearing the Carlos uniform. My husband wore a shirt that said Steve for 3 years and that ain't even his name lmao

There is a reason for the piss-poor reviews. Not only is the place now no longer a pep boys "auto"…read morestore, it's just TIRES ONLY, no products other than that. Came in for oil /low oil light. - The place is just horrible customer service. horrible !! Walked in and asked for oil - "We don't sell anything but tires, but go down three lights to auto zone" is what the man behind the counter in his cellphone was trying to say after having asked him to repeat if very slowly. Okay, so I do. I get my oil at Auto Zone as torrential rain and thunder start. I head back to pep boys to try and get temporary shelter pulling up to an open bay to ask if I could just pull in under shelter to put on in engine and turned away by some worker sitting on his butt, on his cellphone. Liability perhaps? Laws of decency prevail I think. Anyway- no concern for me, and I suspect anyone else who would have needed help in a storm. Don't go to Pep Boys at Promenade in Bridgewater. Pretty disgusted at what this franchise has become. Low quality hires getting paid for personal time on Twitter and who knows what else? Big Picture: Pep Boys is pretty much a microcosm of what New Jersey is quickly becoming: unconcerned, indifferent, hollow shelled people and businesses - and filling up fast with more of them.
